Yahiko Onoda is one of the male students who attended Akademi in 1980s Mode.
Appearance[]
Current[]
Yahiko has short, mousy brown hair. His bangs part slightly to his left, and they fray and puff out around his face. He has golden yellow eyes.
If the player tells him Teiko Nabatasai's hairstyle preference in order to matchmake him with her, he will tie a small tuft of hair into a small ponytail with a white hair tie on the back of his head or slick back his bangs.
He wears the default 1980s uniform with a Polaroid camera attached to a black strap hanging from his neck.
Previous[]
Before the October 21st, 2024 build, he had very dark brown hair that curled around his face, reaching past his chin. His bangs were swept to his left, reaching his eyebrows. He had two short ahoges that stuck out on the top of his head. His eyes were light brown.
Personality[]
A high academic achiever who enjoys studying the inner workings of cameras. He hopes to eventually learn enough about cameras to advance the field of photographic technology.

Among the Personas that are currently implemented in the game, Yahiko is a Sleuth. When the school atmosphere is above 80%, he will act upon the Snitch persona if he sees Ryoba Aishi commit murder or finds a corpse. If he witnesses Teiko Nabatasai's murder, he will run to Ryoba and try to apprehend her.
When the school atmosphere is below 80%, he will take a photo of Ryoba committing murder or of the corpse and run to show it to The Journalist, who is outside the school gate. This will cause an instant Game Over. If the photo is of Ryoba committing murder, the Police will arrest her, causing an instant Game Over.
According to YandereDev, Yahiko is kind of nerdy, as he loves technology and mechanical things.[2]
Routine[]
Week 1 and 8[]

At 7:05 AM, Yahiko enters the school grounds with the other members of the Photography Club. He walks to the Locker Room at 7:10 AM and changes from his outdoor shoes to his indoor shoes. At 7:15 AM, he paces between the south-east and south-west Fountains, admiring the scenery.
At 8:00 AM, he walks to Classroom 3-1 and sits at his desk. He starts his morning classes at 8:30 AM. He leaves to eat his lunch in the Newspaper Club with his clubmates at 1:00 PM.
He walks back to class at 1:30 PM and participates in cleaning time between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM. At 4:00 PM, he will resume pacing between the south-east and south-west Fountains.
If Ryoba Aishi joins the club and participates in the club activity, he will help write the next day's newspaper.
If the Photography Club is disbanded, he will socialize with the other former members outside of the club room during periods in which he would normally attend it.

Week 2[]
At 7:00 AM, Yahiko enters the school grounds. He walks to his locker at 7:05 AM and changes his shoes. He will then run upstairs to the Second Floor to sit and read outside Classroom 2-1.
At 8:15 AM, Yahiko will run to Classroom 3-1 and sit at his desk. He starts his morning classes at 8:30 AM. He leaves to eat his lunch outside the Martial Arts Club at 1:00 PM.
He runs back to class at 1:28 PM and participates in cleaning time between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM. At 4:00 PM, Yahiko will sit and read outside the Sociology Classroom until the end of the day.
On Thursday, he will not participate in cleaning time and will instead sit and read until the end of the day.
Week 3[]
At 7:00 AM, Yahiko enters the school grounds. He walks to his locker at 7:05 AM and changes his shoes. He will then run upstairs to the second floor to sit and read by the Cafeteria.
At 8:15 AM, Yahiko will run to Classroom 3-1 and sit at his desk. He starts his morning classes at 8:30 AM. He leaves to eat his lunch outside the Martial Arts Club at 1:00 PM.
He runs back to class at 1:28 PM and participates in cleaning time between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM. At 4:00 PM, he will sit and read by the Workshop until the end of the day.
On Thursday, he will not participate in cleaning time and will instead sit and read until the end of the day.
On Friday, he will read outside the Art Room and eat inside the Home Ec Room.

Week 4[]
At 7:00 AM, Yahiko will rush to his locker to change his shoes. He will then run outside to sit and read by the entrance to the Gymnasium.
At 8:15 AM, Yahiko will run to Classroom 3-1 and sit at his desk. He starts his morning classes at 8:30 AM. He leaves to eat his lunch outside Classroom 3-1 at 1:00 PM.
He runs back to class at 1:28 PM and participates in cleaning time between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM. At 4:00 PM, he will head back outside to sit and read by the Swimming Pool until the end of the day.
On Thursday, he will not participate in cleaning time and will instead sit and read until the end of the day.
On Friday, he will read outside the Art Room and eat inside the Home Ec Room.
Week 5[]
At 7:00 AM, Yahiko will rush to his locker to change his shoes. He will then run upstairs to sit and read by Classroom 3-2.
At 8:15 AM, Yahiko will run to Classroom 3-1 and sit at his desk. He starts his morning classes at 8:30 AM. He leaves to eat his lunch outside the Workshop at 1:00 PM.
He runs back to class at 1:28 PM and participates in cleaning time between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM. At 4:00 PM, Yahiko will sit and read outside Classroom 2-2 until the end of the day.

Week 6[]
At 7:00 AM, Yahiko will rush to his locker to change his shoes. He will then run up the east side stairs leading up to the Third Floor to sit and read.
At 8:15 AM, Yahiko will run to Classroom 3-1 and sit at his desk. He starts his morning classes at 8:30 AM. He leaves to eat his lunch in the Home Ec Room at 1:00 PM.
He runs back to class at 1:28 PM and participates in cleaning time between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM. At 4:00 PM, Yahiko will sit and read in the Cafeteria until the end of the day.

Week 7[]
During week 7, Yahiko will deviate from his regular routine to follow Teiko Nabatasai around the school from time to time. When he is not stalking her, he will spend time in the Plaza.
Week 9[]
During Week 9, Yahiko will take photographs of Chigusa Busujima at the pool for a photoshoot alongside the other Photography Club members, making it harder for Ryoba Aishi to kill her without a witness.
Week 10[]
During Week 10, Yahiko helps with Sonoko Sakanoue's investigation. He will spend his free periods investigating several students, including Ryoba.

Teiko Nabatasai[]
- Main article: Teiko Nabatasai
Yahiko has a crush on Teiko and is her suitor. If he is matched with Teiko, the two will begin a romantic relationship with each other, which will eliminate Teiko. If he witnesses Teiko's murder, he will run to Ryoba and try to apprehend her. If Ryoba had peacefully eliminated Teiko through a method that wasn't through gossip or matchmaking, they would've gotten together.[3]
He felt disappointed in Teiko when she got expelled from Akademi.[4]

- His name, Yahiko, consists of the writing "complete, full" (ya, 弥) and "-hiko" (彦), a common suffix in Japanese masculine names, which means "boy".
- His surname, Onoda, means "small" (o, 小), "field" (no, 野), and "rice paddy" (ta/da, 田).
- Yahiko was given Raizo Morioka's second hairstyle in the 1980s Revamp update.
- His original hairstyle can still be accessed via JSON, Pose Mode or Custom Mode.
- He became a photographer after the events of 1980s Mode.[4]
