Wataru Murata is one of the male students who attended Akademi in 1980s Mode. He was the President of the Photography Club.
Appearance[]
Current[]
Wataru has short, semi-fluffy dark-blonde hair. His bangs part slightly to his right, and they fray and puff out around his face. He has two ahoges, one long and one short, that stick out on the top of his head. He has blue eyes and freckles all over the lower half of his face.
He wears the default 1980s uniform with a polaroid camera attached to a black strap hanging from his neck. Since he is the leader of the Photography Club, he wears the "Red Armband of Leadership" with a resemblance of a camera on his left arm.

Before the January 17th, 2022 Build, his hair and eyes were hazel-like, and the tips of his hair were greenish.
Personality[]
Originally a member of the Newspaper Club before realizing that he enjoyed taking photos more than writing. Switched clubs, then worked his way up to become the President of the Photography Club.
Among the Personas that are currently implemented in the game, Wataru is a Sleuth. When the school atmosphere is above 80%, he will act similarly to Fureddo Jonzu: if he discovers a corpse, he reacts like a Snitch. If he witnesses a murder, he will react with the Heroic persona.
When the school atmosphere is below 80%, he will take a photo of Ryoba committing murder or the corpse and run to show it to The Journalist, who are just outside the school. This will cause an instant Game Over if the photo is of Ryoba committing murder, as she will have been arrested.

At 7:05 AM, Wataru enters the school grounds with the other Photography Club members. He walks to the Locker Room at 7:10 AM and changes from his outdoor shoes to his indoor shoes. At 7:15 AM, he enters the Photography Club and studies the photos that are hanging on the walls.
At 8:00 AM, he walks to Classroom 3-2 and sits at his desk. He starts his morning classes at 8:30 AM. He leaves to eat his lunch in the Photography Club with his clubmates at 1:00 PM.
He walks back to class at 1:30 PM and participates in cleaning time between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM. At 4:00 PM, he will head back to the Photography Club and stay there until the end of the day.
If the Photography Club is disbanded, he will socialize with the other former members outside of the club room during periods in which he would normally attend it.
Week 10[]
During Week 10, Wataru helps with Sonoko Sakanoue's investigation. He will spend his free periods investigating several students, including Ryoba Aishi.

- His given name, Wataru, can be written in many ways, with a variety of Kanji. Using one symbol, it can be written as "cross over" (亙), "progress" (弥), "study" (渉), and "permanent" (恒). Using two, it can be written as "passed" and "aspire" (渡志), "cotton" and "lapis" (綿瑠), "extend" and "good" (亘尊), and "every time" and "flow" (度流). Using three, it can be written as "serenity/harmony," "thick," and "jewelry with lapis lazuli" (和太琉), and "multi," and "distillate" (環多留). Many other combinations are possible.[2]
- His surname, Murata, is written as "村田," with "村" meaning "village" and "田" meaning "rice paddy."
- Both Wataru and Waka Yamaga ended up together after the event of 1980s Mode.[3]
