Tutorial (202X) Quotes
The Story Mode tutorial is a step-by-step tutorial which teaches the player in understanding and utilizing the games basic mechanics.
Overview[]
As of the February 2nd 2023 build, YandereDev released a build that contained a Tutorial. The tutorial has 2 stages, the Pre-Tutorial and the Tutorial Cutscene. From now on, when a new game starts a new cutscene appears after the Introduction Cutscene and before the 'Info-Chan cutscene, the Tutorial. It has two stages, the Pre-Tutorial and the Tutorial cutscene.

At the beginning of the tutorial, in the Pre-Tutorial Cutscene, Kokona Haruka asks the player to rehearse for a play with the Drama Club (except Kizana) at the Gymnasium. After, the Tutorial begins with various things to do. This teaches the player about various ways to kill rivals and how to dispose of the evidence.
- In the Pre-Tutorial cutscene, Senpai is seen walking down the hall reading a book.
- Ayano watches her senpai outside of the Drama Club walking down the hall smiling.
- Kokona steps out of the Drama Club and asks Ayano if she wants to participate in a play about a serial killer that they are trying to rehearse.
If the player decides not to play the tutorial, Ayano will refuse to help Kokona. If the player decides to play the tutorial, Ayano will accept to help Kokona and the tutorial will begin. The cutscene will end and Ayano, Kokona and the rest of the Drama Club (Kizana is not included) will be displayed in the gymnasium, with Kokona talking to a pondering Ayano, with (from left to right) Shozo Kurosawa, Tokuko Kitagawa, Riku Soma, and Tsuruzo Yamazaki standing idle behind Kokona. Then the Tutorial Menu will pop up, listing all of the core mechanics of the game. The player can choose to do all of the tutorials chronologically. Currently, the menu contains 15 tutorials, as the last tutorial is a final test. In all of the tutorials, Kokona is narrating the sequence of events as a disguise of telling the player what to do to complete the tutorial correctly.

- Weapons, Attacking, and Sanity
- In the beginning, the set will be transitioned into Ayano Aishi in the Gymnasium along with the Drama Club, that are her victims in the first Tutorial. To complete the tutorial, the player must do what the instructions (or the narrator) is telling them to do. It starts with Ayano grabbing a knife present on a table, approach and kill the Drama Club. After she kills them, she becomes bloody and she loses all her sanity. She must restore her Sanity and at the end, she must put the corpses into the incinerator and activate it.
- Disposing of Corpses
- After successfully killing all of her victims, Ayano must destroy all the evidence of her crimes. With the first thing to do is to get rid of the corpses. She must pick up all of the corpses and carry it to the incinerator. Once she's done, Ayano must activate the incinerator in order to complete this tutorial.
- Mopping Up Blood
- Now with her victims disposed and burning in the incinerator, Ayano has to clean up the rest of the evidence of her crimes. With the next step is to mop up all the blood on the ground. To complete this, Ayano can grab a nearby bucket and fill it up with water and bleach. Afterwards, she must dip the mop into the bucket and then clean up the blood on the ground.
- Changing Clothing
- In this tutorial, Ayano now has to clean up the blood that is all over her. She will immediately start in front of the Shower Room and she must run inside to her locker to get undressed and change to a towel. Then, Ayano can head over to the shower and clean herself. When she's finish, Ayano can head back to her locker and put on her gym uniform. Therefore, completing this tutorial
- Cleaning Evidence
- After cleaning off the blood on herself, Ayano now has to clean off the blood from both the knife, and her school uniform. She will start out in a hallway and will have to head to the nearby water fountain. After cleaning the knife, Ayano is then instructed to clean her uniform by bringing it to the washing machine in the Home Ec Room. Though the narrator does give a small hint to the players that they can also dump the knife and uniform into the incinerator as well.
- Causing Distractions
- Now with all of the evidence disposed and washed away, Ayano will start a new plan. She is then transitioned back into the Gymnasium, and will have to steal a nearby key without anyone noticing. To complete this, Ayano will have to stand behind a nearby wall and giggle. When Kokona is investigating the laughter, Ayano can steal the key and complete the objective.
- Dismembering Corpses
- After killing another victim, Ayano has to dispose the cropse into the incinerator without any witnesses. At a nearby table, Ayano can put on a raincoat and place a tarp underneath the corpse to prevent anymore blood from spilling. Then she can grab a nearby circular saw to chop up the body to pieces. Finally, Ayano can take off the raincoat and place all the body parts into the incinerator and activate it.
- Reputation and Socializing
- Unfortunately, a student ended up witnessing Ayano covered head to toe in blood. To repair her damaged reputation, Ayano can apologize to the student and also make a casual conversation with her witness so that way she can get on better terms with them.
- Photography and Yandere Vision
- Ayano can learn more about her victims before she kills them. For this tutorial, Ayano can pull out her phone and take a picture of her victim. Afterwards, she can hide behind the wall and use Yandere Vision to find out what the victim is up to. On top of that, she can use Yandere Vision to detect nearby objects that she can use as weapons.
- Following and Kidnapping
- The next objective Ayano can complete, is by kidnapping her victims. She can grab a nearby syringe and tranquilizer from a table and ask her victim to follow her. Once she has gain her victim's trust, Ayano can head towards the gym closet right in front of her. After closing the door, she can stab her victim from behind and place their unconcious body into a large case. Later that night, she will gather the body and bring them back home.
- Poisoning and Drowning
- Now, Ayano will learn how to drown her next victim. She will stand next to a nearby table with some rat poison. Ayano will then grab the poison, and head towards the student who is eating their lunch. Ayano will be instructed to hide behind the wall where the student is sitting and giggle in order to gain their attention. Once the student is investigating the noise, Ayano can pour the rat poison into the bento and the victim will continue eating. After the victim gets up up to vomit into the toilet, that's when Ayano can drown them. After doing so, the narrator will also mention to the player about using Lethal Poison instead in the future.
- Puddles and Electrocution
- Next, Ayano will use electrocution to kill her next victim. She can walk over to a nearby sink and fill a bucket with water. Then, she can head over to her victim and pour the water onto their feet. Once done, Ayano can head over to a nearby table and grab a car battery and throw it at them, killing them.
- Heroes And Struggling
- Ayano will learn a lot about the different kinds of reactions from witnesses. Some of her victims were easy to take down, but others fought back when she attempted to murder them. She grabs a knife from the nearby table, and stabs Kokona Haruka, which prompts Riku Soma to run to Ayano and attempting to apprehend her. The player can easily click a couple of buttons to knee Riku in the stomach and plunge the knife in his head to win the struggle minigame.
- Traps and Immolation
- The next objective is to set her next victim on fire. She grabbed a knife, a spool of thread, and tape. Then she grabbed a jerry can, filled the bucket with gasoline, and poured it in the water cooler. Ayano created a trap, and grabbed the candle. She can then watch her victim get drenched in gasoline caused by the trap. Finally, she walked to her drenched victim, holding the candle, and watched her victim scream in pain being burned alive.
- Final Test
- The final objective is to kill her victim without being caught. Ayano will distract four students by giggling. Ayano will wear a raincoat before going behind a wall that her victim was standing near, and distracting her by giggling. When her victim is out of the eyesight of other witnesses, Ayano will grab a circular saw and kill her victim. She will then grab some tarp, placing it below the corpse, and dismembering her victim with the circular saw. She will tie the bags up herself. Ayano will take off her bloodied raincoat and place it in the washing machine, activating the machine. She will grab a bucket, fill it with water, then grab some bleach and pour it in the bucket. She will grab a mop and dip it in the bleached bucket, which is then used to clean up the blood stain on the floor. Once mopped, Ayano will grab the blue trash bags one by one, and throw them in the incinerator with witnesses nearby. Once all six bags have been thrown, she will activate the incinerator. She will finally wash her circular saw and finish her objective.
Trivia[]
- At the very beginning of tutorial cutscene if the player looks carefully, Info-Chan can be seen watching Ayano near the hallway corner.
- The four girls resembling Empty Husks in the Final Test are customized Sakyu Basu, Inkyu Basu, Kuu Dere and Horuda Puresu respectively.
- The outdated screen of Ayano with the Drama Club members was replaced on the June 15th, 2024 build, with now Kokona and Ayano together, and the Drama Club Members behind them standing.
- As of the October 12th, 2024 update, if Ayano completes all of the tutorials from Kokona, they will automatically befriend her.
- The play was originally written by Kokona, who was unaware of how edgy it was. She named it "Midnight's Blade."[1]
- Kizana Sunobu criticized this play, even opposing it from Day 1. She argues that the protagonist and the narrative are "too flawed" and that it is foolish.[2]
- The lead actress in this play was Horuda Puresu, who backed out at the last minute due to her fear of screwing up and the embarrassment that comes from being on a stage in front of people.[2]
- Ayano canonically completed the tutorial. However, Kokona's play never happened because Kizana told her it was stupid and to stop.[3][2]
