Togo Atatsuma (a.k.a Dandy Pompadour) is one of the male students who attended Akademi in 1980s Mode.

Before he was reintroduced in 1980s Mode, he was a delinquent and one of the students who attended Akademi in 202X Mode.

Appearance[]

Togos Chain

Togo wearing his chain with the male delinquents.

Togo has black hair done into a pompadour hairstyle with spiky strands at the end. He has brown eyes.

He wears the default 1980s uniform, except that his blazer is unbuttoned, revealing a black shirt, and carries a weapon bag, containing a pipe. He also wears a gaudy gold chainlink around his neck with the main embellishment of the chain being a yen symbol.

In "Osana Progress and Yakuza Thoughts", a young Toga is seen in two illustrations. One illustration has him with a similar hairdo as his teenage self, in a grey shirt and covered in a few small bandaids. In another one, he wears a small fluffy hat with a longsleeve jacket and ankle length puffy pants. He wears black sandals and is covered in one bandaid on his cheek, and a couple of scratches, primarly around his feet and ankles. He holds two large radishes with one hand, and another with his brother.

Personality[]

Idolizes his older brother, a successful career criminal. Became a delinquent as part of an attempt to emulate his brother's lifestyle. Provoked a local gang, giving them reason to antagonize him daily.

— Description in Ryoba's notebook.

Among the Personas that are currently implemented in the game, Togo is Violent. If Ryoba Aishi gets too close to him, he will push her away. If she initiates a fight with him, he will fight until either one of them is injured. If he loses, he will drop his weapon.

If he sees Ryoba carrying a corpse or murdering someone, he will run up to her and begin a combat mini-game and if Ryoba wins, he will run out of the school and call the police.

If he sees Ryoba bloody or insane, he will only mock her and not lower her reputation.

Routine[]

Current[]

At 7:20 AM, Togo enters the school grounds. He walks to his locker at 7:30 AM and changes from his outdoor shoes to his indoor shoes. At 7:40 AM, he walks to the Incinerator and talks with Shichiro Kurosapu, Taichi Hiranaka, Saburo Meshino and Seishiro Sadanaga.

At 8:30 AM, Togo walks into Classroom 2-2 and sits at his desk. He starts his morning classes at 8:40 AM, and leaves to go to the incinerator at 1:00 PM.

Togo walks back to class again at 1:40 PM and goes to the incinerator between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM.

Previous[]

Togo spawned by the left side of the disposal area at 7:15 AM. He disappeared at 8:30 AM and returned at 1:15 PM. He disappeared again at 1:30 PM, this time for the rest of the day.

Task[]

Main article: Tasks
TogoTask

Togo's task description.

"Togo Atatsuma is being antagonized by a local gang. Talk to him outside of the school gates after 3:30 PM to defeat his enemies in a brawl."

Togo's task is to defeat a local gang that he provoked, as an attempt to live the same way as his brother. To complete this task, meet Togo at 3:30 PM in the front of the school and talk to him. This will load up a mini-game to beat up the gang. Upon defeat, Togo will thank you, and he repays you by unlocking The Yakuza in Town. *You won't be able to get this task if you used the debug page and pressed the S key. It glitches out and won't allow you to get the task. If you want to be able to do his task, you have to beat him up first.

Relationships[]

The Yakuza[]

Main article: The Yakuza

Togo's brother is involved in the Yakuza, as hinted at in his Student Profile. He idolizes him and wants to be like him, however, the Yakuza strongly discourages him to also be involved.

Togo and his brother struggled as children due to a deceased parent and a disabled parent. His older brother assumed responsibility and took care of Togo and his parent. When conventional jobs didn't pay the Yakuza enough, he resorted to a life of crime to gain extra money to care for his family. This would eventually lead the older brother to join the Yakuza.[2] Togo's idolization for his brother is so visible that he even wears a gold necklace around his neck in hopes to be like his brother, who is a rich, bountiful criminal.

The Yakuza deeply cares for his younger brother, as the last thing that he wants is for Togo to struggle in life and become a criminal like he did.[2]

When Togo asks his brother what he does, the Yakuza simply tells his brother that he steals from the rich, greedy, corrupt CEOS, anything that is vague but ethical.[2]

If Togo goes missing or is murdered, the Yakuza will no longer be in the alleyway of Buruza Town.

In Mission Mode, Ryoba is able to kill Togo without any consequences. This is because Togo and his older brother have fallen out with one another and now don't consider each other family anymore.[3]

Trivia[]

  • He was implemented in the March 2nd, 2016 Build, removed in the April 26th, 2018 Build, and was re-implemented in the October 10th, 2021 Build (a.k.a 1980s Mode).
  • He kept his identity hidden so that it was harder to link him to his crimes.[4]
  • The part of his name can be written as "eastern" (東), "winter" (冬), or "wisteria" (藤).
    • If his name is written as Tōgo, the go part is written as "I, my, one's own" (吾).
    • If his name is written as Tōgō, the part is written as "home town, village" (郷).
  • His surname, Atatsuma, may be a typo of Agatsuma, a real-life Japanese surname. Agatsuma is written as "above, wife" (上妻) or "my wife" (吾妻)
    • The surname Agatsuma, written as "吾妻", is supposedly derived from several real-life locations in Japan that shares the same name and writings.
  • YandereDev does not currently plan for the player to have the ability to reform Togo.[5]
  • He is the only 1980's Mode student who has a specific task other than rivals.
  • After the events of 1980s Mode, Togo went on to become a martial arts instructor instead of a career criminal.[6]
    • He might be a strict instructor, but that wouldn't mean that he'd be mean or have a rude personality.[7]
  • Canonically, Ryoba Aishi took his task on the first week of 1980s Mode.[8]
  • He wears a gaudy gold chain around his neck with the yen symbol attached because he wants to follow in his brother's footsteps of being a rich career criminal.[9]

Quotes[]

...what are you talkin' to me for? Tch...trust me, I'm not the kinda guy you want to get involved with. If you spend too much time around me...you're gonna get hurt.
...I'm not just saying that, you know. I'm serious. I pissed off some pretty nasty guys...and every day, they wait outside the school gate for me to show up so they can beat me senseless.
If they see me and you together...they'll think you're my girl. And if they get the impression that you're important to me, they'll probably try to rough you up...or worse. So just stay away from me. Got it?

— Togo's task.

...heh, what? Are you insane? You think you could take them on?! We're talking about a gang, here! You wouldn't stand a chance! Tch...your funeral. I'll be waiting at the school gate at 3:30 PM.

— Accepting his task.

...heh. You're smarter than you look.

— Refusing to do his task.

Yep...there they are. Right on schedule. You better leave, before -
...hey! You're not actually gonna try to fight them, are ya?! They'll kick your ass!
...(sigh)...no turning back now. ...Here they come!

— Togo before Ryoba begins to fight the local gang.

...I've...I've never seen anything like that before! You're...not human...
...heh...after today, I definitely won't have to worry about those guys anymore...
If you hadn't stepped in, though...they probably would have killed me! I...heh...I owe ya my life!
There's no way I could ever pay you back for what you just did. But...there's someone else who might be able to.
...my brother. He's got...connections.
You know the street with all the stores? At night, you can find my brother there, in an alleyway.
I'll tell him to hook you up with whatever you want. After that, we'll be square. All right? And, hey...thanks again.
