Teiko Nabatasai is the seventh rival and one of the female students who attended Akademi in 1980s Mode. Following the game's storyline, she was Ryoba's eighth rival.

Appearance[]

Teiko has waist-length brown hair with two strands framing her face and orange eyes. Her skins appears slightly tanned.

She wears the default 1980s uniform with a pair of white stockings and a peach bow on the back of her head.

Her white stockings represent her not being completely perfect.[2]

Before the November 12th, 2021 Build, her hair was chest-length.

Personality[]

Teiko is Akademi's top student; the smartest girl in school.
She is known for achieving perfect scores on every test and obtaining flawless grades in every school subject.
Her prodigal intelligence is widely recognized, and she is sometimes invited to universities in foreign countries to give speeches about various academic subjects.

— Description on Official Website.

Akademi's top student; the smartest girl in school. Perfect scores on every test, flawless grades in every subject.

— Description in Ryoba's notebook.

Among the Personas that are currently implemented in the game, Teiko is Lovestruck. If she witnesses Ryoba Aishi commit murder, she will run to Jokichi Yudasei and inform him that Ryoba is a murderer, causing an automatic Game Over. If she encounters a corpse, she will run to Jokichi and tell him there is a murder in Akademi; the two will then run out of school and call the police.

Teiko will become a Teacher's Pet on subsequent weeks If she is eliminated peacefully.

According to YandereDev, Teiko is very formal, almost "businesslike" in her interactions with others. There is almost never a point in time when she acts silly or demonstrates any sorts of personality flaws. Canonically, even after she got expelled from Akademi, she didn't become vindictive about it, she just went off and became a college professor at a university.[3][4]

Teiko is shown to be secretly incapable of accepting anything less than perfection, so a 99/100 score really, really hurt her as evidenced by her diary, which can be found in her book bag. She wanted to continue telling people that she has scored a 100/100 on every test she's ever taken, and couldn't do that if there was evidence of a 99/100 test in the world.[3]

In her Befriend dialogue, Teiko says she went to Karlheinz Asylum because she was tired of being perfect all the time.

Introduction[]

In the cutscene after eliminating the sixth rival, Teiko's silhouette is seen as Ryoba talks about her Senpai.

"Many girls have competed for my Senpai's heart. Most of them were mere pests rather than actual threats... But the latest one is different. Akademi's top student. The brightest girl in school. Perfect scores on every test. Flawless grades in every subject. The perfect combination of beauty and brains. Any guy at school would be honored to have her attention. If she continues to spend time around my Senpai... There is no doubt that she'll steal him from me. It feels like I've been seeing the police patrolling near Akademi more often lately. The unsolved murder from earlier this year is still a stain on their reputation. Any bloodshed at this point in time could attract unwanted attention... Perhaps I should keep my hands clean from now on. Hmm... Akademi's top student... It sure would be a shame if she was expelled from school, wouldn't it?"

— Ryoba's monologue about Teiko.

Events[]

Monday

At 7:00 AM, Teiko gives Jokichi a bento, claiming she accidently made an extra and doesn't want it to be wasted. Then, she will ask Jokichi to meet her at 5:15 PM and tell her how it tasted, which he will accept. At 5:15 PM, Jokichi and Teiko meet outside the gate and Teiko asks how the bento was. If the bento wasn't poisoned with an emetic poison, Jokichi says he enjoyed it and Teiko is a good cook; they then walk home together. If the bento was poisoned, Jokichi says that the bento made him sick and they walk home separately.

Tuesday

At 7:00 AM, Jokichi gives Teiko a book she had asked about and she puts it in her bookbag. They then decide to meet at 5:15 PM so she can return the book. At 5:15 PM, Jokichi and Teiko meet outside the gate and Jokichi asks her what she thought of it. If the book wasn't stolen, Teiko says she loved it and gives it back as she read the whole thing; they discuss the ending as they walk home together. If the book was stolen, Teiko apologizes for losing it and they walk home separately.

Wednesday

At 7:00 AM, Teiko tells Jokichi she has a gift for him which she'll give to him at lunchtime. She leaves the gift on her desk when she goes to drop off her bag. At 1:00PM, Kaguya and Teiko meet on the Rooftop where she gives him the gift box. If the contents weren't replaced with contraband, the box will contain a book written by a mysterious unknown author, with Teiko indirectly stating she's the author; they then eat lunch together. If the contents were replaced, Jokichi will refuse the gift, leaving Teiko to eat lunch alone.

Thursday

At 7:00 AM, Teiko and Jokichi talk about a movie they're planning to see after school. During this conversation, Teiko yawns and Jokichi suggests she take a nap after cleaning time so she doesn't sleep through the movie. At 4:00 PM, she takes a nap in the Infirmary. If her bento wasn't poisoned with a Sedative, Teiko meets Jokichi at the gate at 5:15 PM and they leave school to see the movie. If her bento was poisoned, Jokichi will get impatient and go home at 5:55 PM.

Friday

At 7:00 AM, Teiko talks to Jokichi. During this conversation, Jokichi will tell her that he is worried about a test that they will have before lunch. Unfortunately, he lost all of the notes he took and was unable to study before the test. Teiko copies her notes for him and leaves them on his desk. At 1:00 PM, Teiko and Jokichi will meet on the roof and she will ask him if the notes helped. If the notes weren't sabotaged, Jokichi says he aced the test and they eat lunch together. If the notes were sabotaged, Jokichi says the notes didn't help him at all and Teiko figures that she copied the wrong notes and they eat lunch separately.

At 5:00 PM, Teiko will go to Jokichi's locker and leave a note asking him to meet her under the cherry tree behind the school. If Ryoba Aishi matchmakes her, she will go to Yahiko Onoda's locker instead. Teiko will then run to the Confession Tree and wait for either Jokichi or Yahiko. She will then confess her love to him. If she confesses to Jokichi, he will either accept her feelings or reject them. If she confesses to Yahiko, he will accept her feelings.

Yahiko Onoda[]

Main article: Yahiko Onoda

Teiko's suitor is Yahiko, and Ryoba can matchmake her with him.

Ryoba Aishi[]

Main article: Ryoba Aishi

According to YandereDev, Teiko suspected it was Ryoba after observing the latter frequently going in and out of the Counselor's Office. She did not gather any evidence for this, however.[5]

Canon Elimination[]

This section contains spoilers. You have been warned!

Teiko's canon elimination is Expel.

The player can do this in any order, but can only do one a day, before the end of lunch. It takes all week and it's best if Ryoba has a Fake ID from the Yakuza. Using narcotics will lead to her being arrested, not expelled.

  1. Put Alcohol in her bag and report to the Guidance Counselor.
  2. Put Condoms in her bag and report to the Guidance Counselor.
  3. Put Cigarettes in her bag and report to the Guidance Counselor.
  4. Put stolen property in her bag, and then report.
    1. Stolen property can be any of these: Stolen Ring, Katana Case Key, Safe Key, Gardening Shed Key, or the Faculty Key Card.
  5. Steal the answer sheet from the Faculty Office. You can do some ways:
  • Use stink bomb to make the teachers go way.
  • Use giggles to distract all the teachers.
  • Get it at 8:15 AM, distract the gym teacher with a radio.

After that, put it in her bag and report it to the Guidance Counselor.

Warning : If the player reports her to the Guidance Counselor at cleaning time on Friday, she will still confess to Senpai and result in a game over.

Trivia[]

  • Her canon elimination involves her being expelled from school.
    • If Ryoba places narcotics in her bag and tells Mae Kunahito, Mae will call the police and she will be arrested. However, this will prevent the player from achieving the canonical S+ ending, which requires her being expelled without getting arrested.
    • She is the second rival to canonically be left alive by Ryoba, the others being Kaguya Wakaizumi, Komako Funakoshi, Chigusa Busujima, and Sonoko Sakanoue.
  • Her actual status is alive, since she was canonically expelled. YandereDev has stated that she later became a college professor.[6]
    • In the aftermath of her week, Teiko, being super intelligent, was able to correctly deduce what happened to her in 1989: She figured that someone at school really, really hated her and wanted her gone at any cost. She understood that attempting to remain at Akademi would probably make her life even worse. She also didn't want to attend school at a place where someone hated her enough to frame her for all sorts of misbehavior. So, she decided to accept her expulsion gracefully and simply continue her life elsewhere. While she didn't develop any resentment towards the staff, she did think less of Akademi and its staff.[3]
    • She also eventually married and had two children.[3][7]
  • Teiko's birthday is on August 8th.[8]
  • Her name, Teiko (艇庫), means "boat house" or "resistance" (抵抗) or even like this (低粉) meaning of "low flour". If her name is derived, like Her name is tei (艇) means "Boat", or "emperor/mikado" (帝). the next name is Ko (子) Means (Child)
    • Her surname, Nabatasai, is not a real Japanese surname. It may have derived from the surname Nabata, which means "name, reputation" (na, 名) and "farm, field" (hata/bata, 畑).
      • In reality, Nabata-sai (名畑祭) can be used to refer to "the festival that happens in Nabata".
  • As revealed in Akademi Daily, Teiko was absent the first six weeks of the game because she was asked by several institutions to give lessons overseas.
  • According to her diary, Teiko once bribed a teacher to give her a perfect score on a test, in which she got a 99/100 on.
  • If someone gives Teiko a flower, she would politely and respectfully decline the flower, as she doesn't want to deal with the inconvenience of carrying it around; she's too busy for that.[9]
  • YandereDev's nickname for Teiko is "Prodigy".[10]
  • Out of all of the 1980s rivals and their intelligence, Teiko is ranked in 1st place.[11]
  • Teiko thought of Komako as a respectable woman.[5]
  • Otome Nagasako felt disappointed when Teiko got expelled, the entire Faculty did as well.[5]

Quotes[]

There IS something I need help with, but I could only trust an academic prodigy with the task. In a manner of speaking, you'd need to "fully max out a school subject" before I could ask for your help.

— Trying to do her task if Ryoba doesn't have at least one Stat at Max Rank.

I am assisting the teachers in composing their lesson plans. I've identified which books from Akademi's library would be most useful for helping the teachers with their upcoming lessons.
To make a long story short, I'll summarize the situation thusly: There are six books that need to be carried from the school library to the school's six classrooms and placed on the teachers' podiums.
I can provide you with the names of those books. If you would be willing to travel to the library, collect the books, and bring them to the teachers' podiums, I would be very grateful to you!

— Teiko's task.

Oh, it's ever so gracious of you to offer to help me! Here is the list of books that need to be transported. Thanks in advance for your help!

— Accepting her task.

I see. I shouldn't have bothered you with my request. In retrospect, I suppose it was quite silly of me to assume that I'd find an idle pair of hands in one of the most elite schools on the planet!

— Declining her task.

You've delivered the books to the podiums? Well done! I appreciate your assistance very much!

— Completing her task.

Dear...it doesn't take a genius to tell that you were snooping around in my bag...but...nonetheless...I require assistance...
There's an abandoned insane asylum just outside of town. Spending a night there is a popular "test of courage."
I...got tired of being "perfect" and behaving properly all the time, so I decided to be reckless...and I went to the asylum.
In the asylum, I was confronted by a man with a knife. I ran from him, but I got cornered in a room with only one exit.
He blocked the doorway and told me...to strip my clothing off. I was terrified of losing my life, so...I did as I was told.
He didn't lay a hand on me...but he took out a camera and...took a bunch of pictures of me...
Actually, he had a big duffle bag with him. At one point, I saw what was inside...a bunch of photographs of other girls.
Ugh, I bet that creep is the one who started the rumor about the asylum being a good place for a "test of courage..."
I wonder how many other girls have already been victimized in the same way that I was...
Eventually, I saw an opportunity to escape, so I grabbed my clothes and ran away. I still have nightmares about it...
When attorneys show evidence in court, the evidence can be seen by everyone present. I don't want anyone to see those photos!
I've been racking my brain to come up with a solution, but nothing comes to mind. I want the photos to be destroyed, but...
A bunch of homeless people and drug addicts are squatting in the asylum right now. It's become a real dangerous place...
Um - I appreciate you saying so, but - I must caution you against such a course of action. It would be incredibly dangerous...
You...do you truly believe yourself to be capable of completing such a task? I...I suppose...if you really...think you can...
Please, I'm begging you, be as careful as possible. If anything were to go wrong, I'd feel guilty for the rest of my life...

— Teiko and Ryoba's conversation.

Senpai...may I please have a moment of your time?
It's embarrassing... but I accidentally made an extra bento this morning.
It pains me to see food go to waste...so, I'd like to offer it to you.
Would you? That would make me so happy! Please take it, Senpai!
Wonderful! At 5:15 PM, would you meet me here, so you can tell me how it tasted?
I'm so happy that everything worked out okay!

— Teiko and Senpai's Monday morning conversation.

Hello Senpai! I'm anxious to hear how the bento tasted!

— Teiko asking how her bento was.

Really? It was? Oh, I'm so happy to hear that!
Oh...honestly, you're too kind! You'll make me blush!
It's a relief to know that I didn't mess it up somehow...
...maybe I'll make you another bento one day! Hehe!
...well...shall we...um...walk home together...?
Oh, delightful! Let's go.

— Teiko reacting to Senpai liking her meal.

...oh, dear. I anticipate a problem...
What? No! I swear, I'd never prank you!
...no. You're not serious. You don't mean that, do you?
Wait...that bento should have been fine...why...why did...

— Teiko reacting to Senpai disliking her meal.

Hello, Senpai. How are you today?
That's wonderful! I was hoping that you'd bring it!
I'm really looking forward to reading this!
I only want to read one chapter so I can decide if I want to buy it.
I'll read it at lunchtime. When should I return it to you?
That fits into my schedule nicely!

— Teiko and Senpai's Tuesday morning conversation.

Oh, I loved it! It was wonderful from beginning to end!
Yes! I read the entire thing!
Yes! It was engrossing, I couldn't put it down.
I've been told that I read a bit faster than most people...
I'd love to discuss the ending with you! Shall we walk together?
Excellent! Okay, so, in Chapter 5...

— Teiko and Senpai's Tuesday after school conversation if the book wasn't stolen.

Senpai...I'm sorry, I have some bad news.
I...lost the book that you lent me. I'm so sorry.
I searched for it everywhere, but...I just couldn't find it...
To make up for this, I'll buy you a replacement right away!
...uh...oh...I've...I've really...blundered this time, haven't I...

— Teiko and Senpai's Tuesday after school conversation if the book was stolen.

Hello, Senpai! I have a question for you?
I'd like to know if you'll be free around lunchtime!
You see, there's something I'd like to give you...
Oh... good! Please meet me on the school rooftop for lunch, then.
Heh... I'm not trying to tease you, if that's what you think...
Oh, I'm sorry, I have to go now - I'll see you at lunchtime!

— Teiko and Senpai's Wednesday morning conversation.

Senpai! I'm glad you're here. Please...take this box, and open it.

— Teiko giving Senpai her present.

Senpai...you're very important to me. I don't want to keep secrets from you.
So...I'm going to confess the truth to you.
Thank you, Senpai. I just couldn't bear the thought of hiding anything from you.

— Teiko and Senpai's Wednesday conversation at lunch if the present wasn't sabotaged.

...huh? What's so surprising?
...I...uh...oh...so, not a fan, then...?
...oh...wow...you really...dislike it, then, huh...
...I...I was just trying to...yeah...okay...

— Teiko and Senpai's Wednesday conversation at lunch if the present was sabotaged.

Hey, Senpai! We still on for that movie later tonight?
So, just to make sure, we're going to meet up here at 5:15 PM, right?
Phew, I'm glad I remembered the time correctly - (Yawn)
Oh, sorry about that...I guess I didn't get much sleep last night, haha...
Hmm...that might be a good idea. Yeah, I should do that!
Sometimes a big meal puts me right to sleep...
I guess I should be careful what I eat at lunchtime!

— Teiko and Senpai's Thursday morning conversation.

Senpai! It's good to see you. Ready to go see that movie?
That's good to hear! Let's go!

— Teiko and Senpai's Thursday afternoon conversation if she didn't fall asleep.

Oh, dear...Senpai, you seem rather sad today. What's the matter...?
You're in luck, Senpai! I don't mean to boast, but I happen to take very thorough notes!
I'll simply head over to my desk and create a copy of my notes...
...then, I'll go over to your classroom and put my notes on your desk, okay?
It would be my pleasure, Senpai! It's not any inconvenience at all!
I will want to know if my notes were helpful, so please meet me on the roof at lunchtime!

— Teiko and Senpai's Friday morning conversation.

Senpai! I wrote the best notes for you that I possibly could. Did they help?

— Teiko asking Senpai if her notes helped him.

I'm glad to hear that! I'm very confident in my ability to take good notes!
Oh, it was nothing! I'd be willing to help you out with academic pursuits anytime!

— Teiko and Senpai's Friday lunchtime conversation if the notes were not sabotaged.

...what? That's...not possible. My notes should have been perfect.
What?! Something is seriously wrong here. my notes were flawless...
I try to never boast, but...I DO have the best grades in school, so...
...oh...no, no...there's only one explanation...I think I understand...
...I copied the wrong notes by mistake...I'm sorry, Senpai...it's my fault...

— Teiko and Senpai's Friday lunchtime conversation if the notes were sabotaged.
