Selene2005 is a character Ayano Aishi can speak to on Yancord, an in-game parody of Discord. Ayano can access it every night.

Gameplay[]

After clicking on "Join a Random Server" via Yancord, Ayano is allowed to talk with Selene2005 once a day, Monday through Friday. Talking with her boosts Ayano's Enlightenment stats. It grants Ayano multiple options to choose from and a new piece of dialogue within each choice. There may be numerous conversations in the future, one for each week.

Personality[]

Selene2005 has a strong sense of justice and distaste for evil people and criminals who make the world worse. On the final day of the first week, she concludes that it is not criminals who create harm to the world but relatively pure evil.

From her Yancord conversations with Ayano Aishi, she seems quickly excited to have a new person on her server, immediately bombarding Ayano with many questions. This ties into her solid holding opinions. It is rather complicated for her to move on from talking about evil, such as criminals and other topics (that are pretty irrelevant for the server) like she's indulged in it. Selene is soon aware of this, promising that she will start talking about ordinary things that she doesn't uphold.

Not much else is known about Selene. She lives in a very high crime-rated area and loves various anime, notably Moonlight Warrior Selene and Life Note. She is most likely minor, considering that her mother has control over her absences, and the last part of her name includes "2005," which could hint that she is 19 - 20 in 202X Mode.

Trivia[]

  • Selene2005 has a strong sense of justice, similar to Taro Yamada and Life Note's protagonist, Yamiko.
  • The player is the only other person on the Moonlit Warrior Selene fan server.
  • For the first two nights, Selene2005's mother is the reason for them having to go offline.
  • Although Selene's age isn't confirmed, Selene might have been born in 2005 due to having this year in their profile name, and placing birth years in profile usernames are very common on the internet. Her username might mean that Selene is 19 or 20 in 2025 when the game occurs.
  • Ayano can choose to go against Selene or agree with Selene. It is unknown if this will affect anything in later weeks. Still, at the moment, nothing changes but a single line of dialogue after you choose an option.
  • YandereDev confirmed on his 11th-anniversary stream that Selene2005 is female.

Quotes[]

OMG hi!! You're the first person to join my server!!

SELENE'S FIRST DIALOUGE ON THE FIRST NIGHT

...oh. So, uh, you don't actually know anything about MWS, then?

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

That's fine! I love introducing people to MWS!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

It's not lame!! It's the best game ever!!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

I'm actually really surprised that the game doesn't have a bigger following. It was so revolutionary for it's time!/It has a badass female protagonist, a rich story with deep philosophical themes, and riveting cinematic cutscenes./Super ambitious for a game released in 1989, right?!

SELENE'S SECOND DIALOUGE ON THE FIRST NIGHT

Awwwww, come onnnnn, how can you not think it's the coolest thing ever?! I think I should tell you what makes it so great...

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

Unless you have a Marufuku Entertainment System, you'll have to emulate it. It's super-easy to find the ROM, though!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

Of course my facts are correct! I'm the world's foremost authority on MWS! Well, at least, I like to call myself that, haha.

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

The gameplay was super addictive, but what really got me hooked was the story./The protagonist is super "gray" - it's hard to decide if she's a good guy or a villain./She's a serial killer, but she's only killing criminals - so, does that make her a good guy? Or, is she no different from the people she kills?/It gets you to think about questions like, "When is it justified to take a human life?" and, "When is it acceptable to take law into your own hands?"/The game did an excellent job of exploring such complex subjects, in-between the gameplay sections. Cool, right?!

SELENE'S THIRD DIALOGUE ON THE FIRST NIGHT

How can you not?! It was so revolutionary!!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

Awesome!!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

No, it's not pretentious at all! There are scenes where the protagonist doubts herself, but it doesn't rub philosophical questions in your face all the time.

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

Actually, some people have speculated that the developer's intention was to spread his personal belief that vigilantism is the only way to solve society's problems./He may have been tempting to convince players that they should imitate the game's protagonist and become serial-killing vigilantes in the real world./I don't know if those theories are true, but I have to admit, the game did have some solid arguments in advocacy of vigilantism./What do you think? Are there situations where it justified to take the law into your own hands?

SELENE'S FOURTH DIALOGUE ON THE FIRST NIGHT

It's a fun topic to discuss! It can lead to some interesting debates!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

I think so, too!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

I wish we could trust them to keep us safe, but...

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

Sometimes, the police are corrupt. I've seen it firsthand. Too often, the legal system lets us down, and fails to deliver justice./I'm honestly surprised that I rarely hear people discussing this subject. Shouldn't this be at the forefront of everyone's minds? It's a matter of life and dead./There are people in this world who have no problem with harming other people. I feel like they should be our top concern./If you take a single step outside of your home, you're putting yourself at risk of being victimized by a criminal. Actually, you can even be victimized INSIDE your home!

SELENE'S FIFTH DIALOGUE ON THE FIRST NIGHT

Well, the *majority* of people aren't criminals...but there are still *enough* criminals to make this world a dangerous place.

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

Didn't you hear I just said about the police and the legal system? I'll spell it out for you: I don't have any faith in them.

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

If that's what you think, you must have the fortune of living in a much better city than I do.

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

I don't like to share my personal details with random strangers I've only known for a few minutes, but I'll tell you a few things that might help you understand my point of view.../In the country I live in, 33% of adults have a criminal record. The city I live in has the highest murder rate in the country. The police arround here are notoriously corrupt, too./If I could afford it, I'd move to another city in a heartbeat. But, it's just not possible for me right now./I'm not asking for pity, I'm just trying to explain why I'm/Oh, wait a sec.../Damn it...my mom is calling for me./I have to go. I'll be back tomorrow! Bye!

SELENE'S SIXTH DIALOGUE ON THE FIRST NIGHT

Yay, I was hoping you'd come back! Hi again!/Nobody else has found this server yet...I tried promoting it on a few message boards, but my posts were flagged as spam :(/Hey, this is kinda off-topic, but have you ever heard of Life Note?

SELENE'S FIRST DIALOUGE ON THE SECOND NIGHT

OMG WHY?? You absolutely need to see every episode!!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

LOL, you sound like such a hipster.

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

Oh. My. God. I don't know how you could possibly say that. It's a masterpiece!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

I'm in love with the premise./A supernatural notebook that can control a human's behavior, but only for 60 minutes.../What would you do, if you had a notebook like that?

SELENE'S SECOND DIALOUGE ON THE SECOND NIGHT

Duh, I know that! I'm asking hypothetically!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

Awwwww, that's sweeeeet <3

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

Seriously? How could you resist that kind of godlike power?

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

If I could control people, I'd want to forbid everyone on Earth from comitting crimes or harming others, and make the world into a utopia.../...but, the Life Note can only control a person for 60 minutes...so, you can't use it to stop a person from comitting crimes for the rest of their life.../The Life Note can still create a utopia, though...by forcing criminals to end hteir own lives./That's what I'd do if I had a Life Note!

SELENE'S THIRD DIALOUGE ON THE SECOND NIGHT

Huh? But, I'm not a criminal! Or, are you implying that I'd be a murderer if I used Life Note to end lives? It's not "murder" if you're simply making the world a safer place!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

Well...I guess we'd still have disease and stuff, but we'd no longer have to fear other humans, and that's a pretty big deal.

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

It's not like I would indiscriminately slaughtering innocent people! I would only target people who deserve to die!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

Uh...now I'm kinda worried about what you think of me...I don't want you to think I'm some sort of psychopath.../Okay, I know it must seem like I'm obsessed with this topic, but...just hear me out./First, let's establish something. Would you rather live in a world *with* criminals, or *without* crimianls?

SELENE'S FOURTH DIALOUGE ON THE SECOND NIGHT

No, no! This isn't an argument! I'm just explaining my stance, that's all!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

Okay! We're on the same page so far!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

That's not it! I just need you to explain something to me!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

Obviously, nobody wants to live in a world where they might be mugged or murdered./Everyone agrees that a world without criminals would be preferable to a world *with* criminals./But if that's the case.../Why do people always react negatively when I say that all criminals in the world should die?

SELENE'S FIFTH DIALOUGE ON THE SECOND NIGHT

What a shame. People shouldn't be so quick to dismiss execution as a valid solution to many of society's problems.

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

But *criminals* lack compassion and empathy, and that's why we need them gone!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

I wish it was possible, but I don't think that's the case.

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

The most common counter-argument I've heard is, "Just send criminals to prison so they can be reformed." But, I don't think it's that simple./I've looked up the statistics for the country I live in. Two-thirds of criminals go straight back to comitting crimes after they get out of prison. Prison doesn't solve anything./The only way to fix this world is to eliminate dangerous people as soon as they've demonstrated their true nature./That's why I/Oh crap, my mom needs to use the computer.../Ugh...I don't want you to think that this is the only subject I talk about.../I'll make you a promise. Our next conversation won't have anything to do with criminals or capital punishment. Okay?/I gotta go. Bye!

SELENE'S SIXTH DIALOUGE ON THE SECOND NIGHT

Hey, you're back! I'm glad I didn't scare you off, lol./Don't worry, I'm going to keep my promise...I won't discuss the usual stuff./For an MWS server, we haven't discussed MWS very much, have we? lol/But, if you haven't played it, then there's not much to discuss.../Ooh, I know what to talk about!/Have you ever heard of the "Ship of Theseus"?

SELENE'S FIRST DIALOUGE ON THE THIRD NIGHT

No, it's not an actual boat! It's a hypothetical boat!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

Just to make sure we're thinking of the same thing, I'll summarize it.

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

Cool, I get to be the one to tell you about it!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

The "Ship of Theseus" is a thought experiment./Imagine a ship that sailing across the ocean. During the journey, parts of the ship fall off, and are replaced with spare parts. Eventually, 100% of the ship's parts are replaced./When the ship finally reaches its destination...can it still be considered the *same ship* that started the journey, or should it now be considered a *different ship*?

SELENE'S SECOND DIALOGUE IN THE THIRD NIGHT

OMG, come on!! The "ship" represents something more important, don't you get it?

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

Interesting! That's the same conclusion that I reached, but only after considering it for a really long time.

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

Ohhhhh? Are you sure? I wonder if I can change your answer...

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

If someone argues that it's a different ship, the question becomes...*when* did it become a different ship?/Was it when the first part was replaced? Or, when more than 50% of parts were replaced? Was it when the final part was replaced? Or, when a specific part of the ship was replaced?/The Ship of Theseus sparks all kinds of interesting questions!

SELENE'S THIRD DIALOGUE ON THE THIRD NIGHT

Oh, yeah? Let's see if THIS changes your mind...

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

You got it!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

Yes, there is! The ship can be a metaphor for a wide variety of things!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

Let's replace "ship traveling across ocean" with "human traveling through life"./Your body contains over 50 million cells. Each of those cells has a lifespan - some of them die after 8 hours, but others live for up to 7 years./This means that, after 7 years have passed, every single cell in your body has died and been replace with a new cell./If every cell in your body has been replaced, can you still consider yourself the "same person"?

SELENE'S FOURTH DIALOGUE IN THE THIRD NIGHT

Seriously?! It's a valid question! It concerns your very existence!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

That's a kind of scary thought...it means that, within 7 years, "you" won't be alive anymore.

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

So, you define yourself as the consciousness inside of your brain, or a "soul", or something like that, right?

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

Let me re-frame the question. As the years pass, your experiences gradually shape you into a different person./What kind of person were you, 7 years ago? What type of person will you be in 7 years? Will you have the same values? The same beliefs? The same personality?/If you change so drastically that you have *nothing* in common with your old self, should you considered the "same person" or a "new person"?

SELENE'S FIFTH DIALOGUE ON THE THIRD NIGHT

Heh, well, about that...

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

That's the conclusion that I reached, too!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

I wonder why? What intrinsic trait makes you "you", even when everything about you has changed?

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

I really want to explain why the Ship of Theseus is such a big deal to me, but.../...well, it has to do with those subjects I promised I wouldn't talk about today./So, let's pause the conversation here, and pick it up back tomorrow, okay?/Hope to see you tomorrow!!

SELENE'S SIXTH DIALOGUE ON THE THIRD NIGHT

Yay, I'm so glad you're back!!/Okay, so, continuing from where we left off.../The reason I brought up the Ship of Theseus is because it leads into something else I want to talk about:/Let's imagine that a man commits murder. However, nobody can find any incriminating evidence, so he doesnt get convicted of his crime...

SELENE'S FIRST DIALOGUE ON THE FOURTH NIGHT

Huh? I...the murderer's identity isn't really important.

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

Um, well...it doesn't really matter.

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

I, uh...I mean, sure, I guess it's technically impressive, but it's still a crime, you know?

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

Anyway! 7 years pass, and you discover evidence of the man's crime. You could get him arrested! But at that point in time, the man has developed into a completely different person./The man now has different values, different beliefs, a different personality, etc. You wouldn't even be able to recognize him as the same guy who committed murder 7 years ago./He's also attempted to atone for his crime by doing good deeds for the past 7 years. Donating to charity, feeding the homeless, etc./Considering how much the man has changed since he committed murder, would you report his crime, or would you let him remain free?

SELENE'S SECOND DIALOGUE ON THE FOURTH NIGHT

So...you don't care if people are murdered, unless it affects you? You don't care about justice being delivered, unless you're personally involved?

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

Ooh, ice cold. No mercy for the guy who did everything possible to atone for his sins?

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

So, you'd appoint yourself as his "judge", and decide his verdict yourself, completely bypassing the police and legal system? That's similar to what vigilantes do...just sayin'...

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

Okay, let's imagine a different scenario:/A man commits murder...then, immediately afterwards, he develops amnesia. He has absolutely no knowledge of his crime. He builds a new life and develops a completely new identity./Seven years later, you find evidence of the man's crime. He still doesn't remember a single thing about his former identity. From his perspective, someone *else* committed that murder./Considering the fact that he has amnesia and doesn't remember anything from his previous life, would you report his crime, or would you let him remain free?

SELENE'S THIRD DIALOGUE ON THE FOURTH NIGHT

Come onnnnn, that completely ruins the entire point of having a fun thought experiment!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

Really?! Even though he's developed into a completely different person?! Geez...harsh.

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

Ooh...reminds me of our conversation about the Ship of Theseus.

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

Okay, next question. No murders this time./Let's say that there are two thieves. One of them steals because of greed. The other one steals because he's trying to feed his starving family./Both thieves are caught, and you have to judge them. Would you punish the two thieves equally, would you give them both different punishments?

SELENE'S FOURTH DIALOGUE ON THE FOURTH NIGHT

It's a hypothetical question, silly!!!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

Really? Even though the two of them have completely different circumstances?

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

Oh, yeah? The police and legal system might not see it that way...

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

I guess the reason why I'm considering this stuff is because I keep thinking, "What if I had the same powers as Selene?" and "What if I had a Life Note"?/My gut reaction is to say, "I would make the world a utopia by killing all criminals!" But, it's not really that simple, you know?/There is always the possibility - however slim - that even a violent criminal would eventually redeem himself.../...and not every person who has broken a law deserves to die, because some crimes are harmless.../...and besides that, many of the people who make this world a horrible place aren't actually criminals. There are many ways to harm others; most of them aren't even crimes./I wish there was a way to sort the entire human race into two categories: people who make the world a better place, and people who make the world worse for others./That would make it so much easier to decide who should live and who should die...

SELENE'S FIFTH DIALOGUE ON THE FOURTH NIGHT

Well, I...

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

You don't *need* super powers or a Life Note in order to make an impact...

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

What's more productive than making the world a better, safer place?!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

I just...want to make a positive difference in the world./No, that's not it... it's more than that./I want to *change* this world./I.../Ugh...I can't really figure out how to explain this.../Let's continue this conversation tomorrow, after I've had some time to think it over.

SELENE'S SIXTH DIALOGUE ON THE FOURTH NIGHT

Hey. I was really hoping you were going to get online. There's something I want to talk with you about./I feel like these conversations we've been having have really helped me. I think I've reached the conclusion that I've been searching for.

SELENE'S FIRST DIALOGUE ON THE FIFTH NIGHT

It's not anything you said. It's the fact that I walked through all of my thoughts one-by-one with another person. That's how you helped.

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

Okay, so, I'll explain...

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

Hey! Just hear me out!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

I've realized that society's problems don't come from "crime" or "criminals". It's something else./It's "Evil"./This world is a horrible place because of "Evil".

SELENE'S SECOND DIALOGUE ON THE FIFTH NIGHT

I was worried that you wouldn't take it seriously...

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

I'll try to explain.

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

I'm talking about a very specific definition of "Evil".

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

A person is "Evil" if they have no regard for well-being of others, and regularly harm others for their own benefit. This type of person is, objectively, making the world worse./I believe that all of the problems in society can be traced to evil people./This world is full of cruelty, but if all evil people were exterminated, we would be living in a utopia.

SELENE'S THIRD DIALOGUE ON THE FIFTH NIGHT

I'm sorry. I can't stop thinking about this subject. It's more concering to me than anything else. I hate living in fear, and I want a solution. Can you blame me for that?

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

It wouldn't be an easy goal to accomplish... but that doesn't mean I shouldn't try.

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

I wouldn't have to do that if we lived in a safe world, but the world we live in is confronting us with a problem that we have to solve.

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

I just want to make the world to be a better place. I just want a world without cruel people in it. I just want to be able to live without fear./No matter how much I think about it, no matter what angle I look at it from, no matter how hard I try to deny it, I always arrive at the same conclusion:/The only way to save this world is with a genocide./"Genocide" should be a dirty word if you're targeting people for thei race or religion. There's nothing wrong with wiping out evil./A genocide of evil people would make the world into a utopia, wouldn't it?

SELENE'S FOURTH DIALOGUE ON THE FIFTH NIGHT

Because nobody else is stepping up to fix problems of this broken world.

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

I'm glad you see it my way!!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

That couldn't be further from the truth! I just want to live in a world without people who harm others! I'd do it without bloodshed, if only I thought it was possible!

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

At this point, we've had numerous conversations with each other. I think you've gotten to know me well enough to judge me. Go ahead, don't hold back, tell me the truth.../What do you think of me?

SELENE'S FIFTH DIALOGUE ON THE FIFTH NIGHT

I...

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES Q

Really? You think so? That's...that's all I ever wanted. I just want to fix this world. I just want a pure, clean world...

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES R

...owch. I know I asked you to be honest, but...damn.

SELENE'S REPLY IF AYANO CHOOSES F

I'm going to log off for a while. I need to figure some stuff out. I'll keep your words in mind. I don't know when will be the next time I log on./I'll see you around. Or maybe not. I honestly don't know.
