Megami Saikou

Megami Saikou is the tenth upcoming rival in Yandere Simulator^[5], one of the female students who will attend Akademi, and the President of the Student Council.

She is the most popular girl in Akademi.^[6] She will be absent for nine weeks because of undisclosed "family business".

From Weeks 1–9, she can be seen on a laptop in the Student Council Room and the Meeting Room.

Appearance

Megami has fair skin, rosy cheeks, silver eyes, and long silver hair down to her thighs with fringed bangs and a protruding ahoge.

She wears the Student Council uniform with black stockings, gloves, and a choker necklace with red stitching and bows. She wears the "Red Armband of Leadership" on her left arm reading 生徒会, meaning Student Council written in kanji.

Early designs show her with black hair and white accessories, but this was later changed.

Personality

“	Megami is the heiress to Saikou Corp, the most powerful business conglomerate in Japan. She is impossibly wealthy, a certified genius, has extensive self-defense training, has excelled at everything she has ever attempted to do in her entire life, and has been trained to possess all of the qualities of a perfect leader, to prepare her for the day when she will inherit her father's company. She is also the most beautiful girl in school, the most popular girl in school, AND the student council president, too. Megami has been absent from school for nine weeks under mysterious circumstances that she has not disclosed to anyone. She has still managed to keep up with her schoolwork by attending class through a laptop, and has also been able to manage the school's student council by attending meetings via video call. She is noticeably upset about this; she strongly believes that she should be attending school like a normal student, and is resentful of her current situation, although she is not at liberty to explain the reasons for her absence. Megami, unlike all other characters, is fully aware of the fact that there is a dangerous person on school grounds. Once she arrives at school, she will do absolutely everything in her power to protect the school's population - that includes installing security cameras, hiring security guards, and instating a zero-tolerance policy for suspicious behavior. Megami clearly has some very important information that would cause her to go to such extreme lengths...but what does she know? Does Saikou Corp have anything to do with it? And, more importantly, does Senpai have anything to do with it?	”

Megami is going to be a strict disciplinarian.^[7] Her IQ is 140.^[8] Everyone agrees that she is mature, responsible, and intelligent. However, some say that Megami acts as if everything she says and does has been written in a script and rehearsed.

While her father tolerates Ayano's presence at the school, Megami herself does not and openly confronts her. It is unknown why she is acting this bold in front of her. She would use her bare hands when apprehending Ayano, as opposed to using pepper spray like the rest of the Student Council.^[9]

Megami has a charismatic aura of confidence and maturity which sometimes results in adults feeling inferior to her, especially since she talks as if they were her equal, rather than her senior.^[10] Given her upbringing, Megami views crying as an activity that is only performed by failures, which is something not befitting of the Saikou family.^[11]

It is rumored that Megami hates or is scared of men or is simply a misandrist, due to her only accepting women into the Student Council, and that she has something to do with Aoi Ryugoku's missing eye.^[12]

Routine

If Ayano is alone and gets close enough to the laptop in the Student Council Room or Meeting Room, Megami will begin speaking. It will shut off after she finishes her monologue, and will not turn on ever again, unless the game is restarted.

YandereDev has said that Megami's routine will put her in close proximity to Senpai or other students.^[13] During Week 10, Akademi's Student Council will be holding a presidential election, and Megami will be running for re-election.

Background

Megami is the heiress to the large business conglomerate Saikou Corp. Most of her life was spent inside of Saikou Corp headquarters, which is also where her family lives.

Growing up, Megami's childhood years were cold, sterile, and clinical. Her "CEO training" began around the same time as her formal education. Training and education were the two focuses of every single day. She didn't get to spend much time around other children and was influenced to believe that desiring playtime or feeling loneliness were weaknesses, so she voluntarily suppressed her own desire to play or have friends.^[14]

When Megami was a little girl, her father gave her a hamster to keep as a pet. Megami absolutely loved the hamster; it brought her more joy than anything else in her life, and caring for the hamster was always the highlight of her day.

On her 7th birthday, her father commanded her to kill the hamster. Naturally, Megami wanted to know why. He explained that, as a member of the Saikou family, absolutely no form of weakness whatsoever would be tolerated – emotional, psychological, or otherwise. He explained that she must be ready to do anything for the sake of the Saikou family – must be prepared to have a heart of ice. To prove her loyalty to the family, to prove that she was willing to put the family above all else, she would have to destroy the one thing she loved the most in the world for no reason other than to demonstrate her commitment to her family.

It was Saisho Saikou who had devised this plan. He had forced Megami's father to do the same thing at 7 years old, and now Megami’s father was continuing the tradition. Megami’s brother Kencho would be put through the same trial once he reached the age of 7, too. It was Saisho’s way of guiding children to develop the way that he wanted them to – guiding them to develop the traits that he wanted the Saikou family to embody.

Megami’s brilliant young mind thought of a million ways to argue in favor of sparing the hamster – “He’s a member of the family, I can’t kill him.” – but, in the end, she decided not to protest at all. She understood that this was a “ritual,” a “rite of passage,” and that the only acceptable outcome was obeying the command that she had been given; doing anything else would be seen as failure.

Megami took the knife that was handed to her, determined the most optimal way to grant the creature a swift, painless, merciful death, and struck.

It is worth mentioning that Megami hesitated longer than any other Saikou family member who had been put through this test.

It is also worth mentioning that, although Megami’s father and brother eventually forgot about their hamsters, she never forgot about hers.

Once, someone attempted to bully her, but Megami won the conflict. ^[15]

Each of the rivals have a dark secret, but Megami's is currently unknown.^[16]

Kencho Saikou

YandereDev states that her younger brother, Kencho, is the only person who knows how to get under Megami's skin, push her buttons and make her lose her temper. He repeatedly tries to compete with Megami, though she clearly surpasses him.^[17]

If she learns of Kencho's death, Megami would see it as a "tremendous waste of time and money."^[18]

Ichiko Saikou

YandereDev states that she is aware of her aunt's existence but her family never spoke of her.^[19]

Senpai

It is unknown if Megami has a crush on Senpai or not. Despite this, Megami will try as hard as she can to keep Senpai safe from any harm, regardless. According to her dialogue from the Rivals Introduction video, Megami is aware that someone has been stalking him.

Student Council Members

Main Article: Student Council

Megami strongly cares about the Student Council members and would go so far as to "violate her orders" if one of them was harmed. If the player kills one of the Student Council members, cameras and metal detectors will be set up around the school.

Megami strives for perfection, and would never tolerate a dysfunctional Student Council.^[20] If Ayano framed one of them, Megami would strongly doubt that they were the real killer.^[21]

If someone were to openly explain their perverted fantasies involving the Student Council, she would show no reaction whatsoever.^[22]

Ayano Aishi

Since she knows Ayano's true nature and they are in the same year in the same school, Megami kept a close eye on Ayano.^[23]

During her computer monologue, Megami is very hostile to Ayano and has a strong dislike towards her. Megami refers her as a "vulgar creature" and that she would "exterminate" Ayano and her family if she could. This shows that she has a very deep hatred for Ayano. YandereDev has stated that in the full game, Megami will not be hostile if the player doesn't make a bad call.^[24] It is not yet known what a "bad call" refers to.

Due to what information was let out in the public eye by The Journalist, Megami is shown to harbor a deep prejudice towards Ayano, along with her family, due to their history that threatened the humanity. Megami expects her to do the same as what her mother did.

Megami is extremely aware that Ayano is the dangerous person in school, which gave her a valid reason to be distrustful towards her. Exactly like the Headmaster, she also has zero tolerance of Ayano's presence in Akademi and desires to remove her from school, fearing Ayano would only harm any students around as long she stays. She would do everything she can to make Ayano's life a living hell by exposing her true nature, along with her family.

If the player chooses to kill her rivals violently, Megami's suspicion on Ayano may become stronger. However, if Ayano didn't kill her rivals, it may lower Megami's guard on her but she might still continue to doubt her.

Aishi Family

Due to the incident of murder at Akademi in 1989 caused by Ryoba was let out in public eye by the Journalist, Megami is fully aware of and generally hates the Aishi Family, especially Ayano. Because she possesses that knowledge, she harbors a deep prejudice towards the family by forbidding their presence in life. She personally even admits wanting the entire family to be extinct by excluding them all from life because of her strong hatred and disgust with their history. Her hostility attitude towards the Aishis is evident by her computer monologue where Megami threatens Ayano to commit genocide on her family if the decision was up to her.

Mainly Ayano, she does not trust them and will never let them deceive her. That said, she is rather completely hostile, cruel and merciless towards the family and does not see them as humans but monsters. She views them as an existential threat to humanity.

Kaga Kusha

Megami thinks Kaga is unpredictable, but a potential cause of slight concern.^[25]Kaga is a likely candidate for Megami's suitor for her Matchmaking elimination, and since she is the final rival, they will be the hardest to matchmake.

Kizana Sunobu

Megami considers Kizana annoying as she constantly asks the Student Council for a higher budget than she needs.^[26] She thinks she is extremely obnoxious.^[27]

Daughter of a Billionaire

During Megami's childhood, Saikou Corp hosted a massive fundraiser, with some of the most richest and influential people in the world attending it. Although Megami greeted everyone politely, she did not feel any connection except for one girl. The latter complained openly about her family and how she would rather be poor since she would feel more free and not bound by her parent's strict and procedural standards. Megami surprisingly agreed with everything she said, and the two have since then remained close friends, meeting whenever possible within their busy schedules. ^[28]

Megami was inspired by Shiori Fujisaki from Tokimeki Memorial, Juliana Everhart from Valkyria Chronicles II, and Satsuki Kiryūin from Kill la Kill.^[29]
YandereDev has stated that Megami will be similar to Kagura Nayuta from Yumina the Ethereal VN.^[30]
She is YandereDev's favorite rival.^[31]
Her name Megami means "Goddess" and Saikou means "The Highest/Maximum". Also can mean "the best"
When the rivals were introduced, Megami's name was initially misspelled as 'Megami Saiko'. This was confirmed to have been an error. ^[32]
She is the richest student at Akademi.^[33]
How Megami judges herself is similar to how Ayano judges herself.^[34]
YandereDev's current reasoning for her absence in the first nine weeks of school is that she was being monitored by a family member, so that she will be prepared to inherit and operate the Saikou business empire. There will be more to it, however, YandereDev would not like to spoil it.^[35]
Yandere Dev would like to make a video about her life during the game before week ten, based on a Reddit post he made.^[36]
She will attend classroom 2-2 via webcam until week 10.^[37]

Megami arrives to school in a helicopter.^[38] Due to this, the mentioned helicopter might be the only aerial vehicle that can be seen in the game.
She will probably be immune to almost everything.
Megami's elimination methods will be the most plot-related.^[39]
She smells like "Shumukh", an expensive perfume from Dubai.^[40]
In the event of her death, Kencho Saikou would inherit Saikou Corp.^[41]
YandereDev has said that she "will be the end of everything."^[42] This hints towards the Story Mode's ending.
If Megami were given prior knowledge and preparation time for a fight with Osoro Shidesu, Megami would win.^[43] Otherwise, Osoro will win.
If a knife throwing ability were to be added to the game, she would be able to catch it in mid-air.^[44]
If Yandere Vision is activated while Megami is monologuing, the speech will be slowed down.
It is known that Ryoba Aishi, Ayano's mother, spoke with Saisho Saikou, CEO of Saikou Corp and Megami's grandfather. This probably explains why Megami is fully aware of the existence of a dangerous student at school.
She has a tracking chip implanted in her so that her position would be known at all times.
If a student council member is killed, she demands that metal detectors and security cameras are installed on the school premises.
Megami's level of suspicion during Week 10 will be proportional to the number of suspicious things that have happened over the past 9 weeks. If you "play quietly" for 9 weeks, Megami's guard will be lower on Week 10.
When Megami is alone with Aoi, she behaves differently and is less formal.^[45]
YandereDev thinks that Megami hasn't been hugged in years, even by family members. The last time she was hugged was probably when she was a child, most likely by her mother.^[46]

Yandere Dev thinks that if Megami had to fight with Budo Masuta, the rules would determine who would win: If there are no rules (e.g. hair pulling, strikes below the belt, etc.), Megami would win because Budo wouldn't expect that and would refuse to fight dirty. If there are rules, Megami would lose to Budo.
Megami is the only rival who doesn't blush in her official artwork, instead she strikes a gentle pose.
She, along with Hanako, are the only rivals not to have a crush on Senpai.
Megami has never wanted a pet in her life and she is indifferent to animals. Ironically, animals appear to like her. ^[28] However, YandereDev says that every rival has a pet. Her pet is a "White Siberian Tiger."^[48]
Megami is extremely skilled and efficient to the point where she can become skilled at anything she attempts to do; she can become proficient within days. ^[31]
A handful of students habours resentment towards Megami, the main reason of this resentment is envy.^[49] One notable example is Kuroko Kamenaga's darkest secret when using the Death Demon ritual.
Megami is treated at Akademi like her paternal aunt was in 1986-1988.^[49]
