Sumiko Tachibana is the fourth rival and one of the female students who attended Akademi in 1980s Mode. Following the game's storyline, she was Ryoba's fifth rival.
Appearance[]
Sumiko has chest-length magenta hair tied into a large high ponytail with messy, parted bangs. Her eyes are green.
She wears the default 1980s uniform with black, knee-length socks. Unlike the other rivals, she is shown wearing the 1980s gym uniform in her official artwork.
Personality[]
Sumiko is a sporty girl who is training hard to be a career athlete.
She's extremely serious about eating healthy and getting lots of exercise.
Known to go to great lengths to attempt to convince others to adopt her own lifestyle choices.
A sporty girl who is training hard to be a career athlete. Very serious about eating healthy and getting lots of exercise.
Among the Personas that are currently implemented in the game, Sumiko is Lovestruck. If she witnesses Ryoba Aishi commit murder, she will run to Jokichi Yudasei and inform him that Ryoba is a murderer, causing an automatic Game Over. If she encounters a corpse, she will run to Jokichi and tell him there is a murder in Akademi; the two will then run out of school and call the police.
Sumiko will use the Heroic persona on subsequent weeks if she is eliminated peacefully.
As seen during her matchmaking, Sumiko doesn't appreciate more "usual" compliments like "you look nice". However, this attitude has limits, as Sumiko holds a grudge against the Evil Photographer. Because she's really serious about eating healthy, she won't accept any snacks offered by Ryoba.
According to YandereDev, Sumiko is pretty competitive.[2]
Her black knee socks represent her superiority complex and forcing her habits on her peers.[3]
Introduction[]
In the introduction cutscene after the elimination of Honami Hodoshima, Sumiko is shown as Ryoba mentions that someone new is in love with her Senpai.
My Senpai is perfect in every way... He's smart...talented...handsome...so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that another girl has fallen for him. This one is an aspiring athlete. Fit. Tan. Toned abs. Boys go crazy for that type of girl, don't they? She worries me. I'll need to take her out quickly. She seems to be encouraging my Senpai to adopt her lifestyle choices... Eat healthy. Exercise often. No smoking or drinking. Of course, all of these are respectable decisions...but she's actually putting her health in grave danger...by getting between me and the man I love. I heard that she prepares a special meal in the Home Ec room every day. A healthy, nutritious meal packed full of vitamins and minerals. I hope she chokes on it.

Quotes[]
Well, actually, there is something that I'd love to ask for help with! But, ah...I could only ask someone athletic for help with this one. You'd need to...raise your "Physical Stat," so to speak.
Alright, so, here's the story: There's this absolutely adorable stray cat living on school grounds, and I really wish I could pet him...but, the problem is, he runs away whenever I approach him.
I've tried to catch him, but he outruns me every time...and I'm supposed to be an athlete! Do you realize how much that hurts my pride?! At this point, petting that cat has becoming my life's goal!
If you could catch that stray cat and bring him to me...oh, man, I would be your best friend forever!
You'll try to catch him for me?! Awesome! The last time I saw him, he was behind the statue of the headmaster. His fur is black, so he should be easy to spot. Good luck catching him...you'll need it!
...oh, man. Ha! I did NOT realize how weird that was going to sound until I said it out loud. "Go catch a cat for me!" Geez, what was I thinking? Please, just forget this conversation ever happened.
Oh! Wow! You actually did it! You caught him! Oh, man, he's even more cute up close! C'mere, little guy! Who's a kitty? Who's a cute little kitty cat? You are! You are!
No offense, but I don't eat junk food. Sorry!
Ugh...I really, really wanted this to stay a secret...but...I've got to admit it, I can't solve this problem on my own...
There's an abandoned insane asylum just outside of town. Spending a night there is a popular "test of courage."
I don't believe in ghosts or anything like that, so I decided to spend a night in the asylum to prove that it's no big deal...
In the asylum, I was confronted by a man with a knife. I ran from him, but I got cornered in a room with only one exit.
He blocked the doorway and told me...to strip my clothing off. I was terrified of losing my life, so...I did as I was told.
He didn't lay a hand on me...but he took out a camera and...took a bunch of pictures of me...
Actually, he had a big duffle bag with him. At one point, I saw what was inside...a bunch of photographs of other girls.
Ugh, I bet that creep is the one who started the rumor about the asylum being a good place for a "test of courage..."
I wonder how many other girls have already been victimized in the same way that I was...
Eventually, I saw an opportunity to escape, so I grabbed my clothes and ran away. I still have nightmares about it...
No! I don't want ANY one to see those photos, not even the police!
I want to go back there and kick that guy's ass! But...I worry that it would just turn out the same as it did last time...
Also, a bunch of homeless people and drug addicts are squatting in the asylum right now. It's become a real dangerous place...
...whoa. Hey, wait a minute. Think about what you're saying...the asylum is a really, really dangerous place right now...
...huh...well...if you could actually burn all of those photos...it would mean the world to me...
I...really hope you can pull it off. I'll be rooting for you!
Senpai! Good to see you!
I'm still determined to convince you that healthy food can taste great!
Look, I prepared this meal for you. I promise it's delicious!
Hey, don't be that way! Take it! I swear, you're going to love it!
Great! At 5:15 PM, let's meet up back here, so you can tell me how it tasted!
Great! I'm looking forward to it!
Yo, Senpai! How was that bento?
Ha! Told ya that healthy food can still taste great!
Good! That's the way things should always be!
Mark my words! I'll get you to completely abandon junk food!
Just think of me as your personal nutritionist! Haha!
Man, I feel like going for a run! Jog home with me?
That's what I like to hear! Let's go!
...hmm? What's the matter?
Huh? No, not in the slightest. Why?
Whoa, WHAT?! No way...you're not serious, are you?!
No way...must be...an allergy or something? Damn...
Hey, Senpai! Good to see you!
Oh, great! It's been impossible for me to find this one!
I'm really looking forward to reading this one!
I'll keep it safe in my bookbag for now, and I'll read it at lunchtime.
When should I return it to you?
That's fine by me!
It seemed pretty good, but I was too restless to really enjoy it.
I mean, it's a good book, but I just gotta stand up and move, you know?
Phew, I'm glad you understand. Didn't want you to think I was a weirdo...
Speaking of getting up and moving around, Senpai...
Jog with me! Right now! Let's go!
That's the spirit! Let's goooo!
Hey, uh...Senpai...
Look...I'm sorry...I'm really, really sorry...
I...lost the book you lent me. I'm really sorry about this...
Yeah...it's gone. But...hey! I'll buy you a new one! Okay?
Uh - oh, shoot. Ohhhhh, shoot. I...really screwed up this time...
Hey there! Senpai! Got a sec?
I brought something to school for you, but I'm a bit busy right now...
I'll be free around lunchtime. Can I show you then?
Cool! Let's meet up on the school rooftop for lunch, then.
Heh heh...I guarantee you won't be able to guess what it is!
Well, I gotta go do my daily routine - see you at lunchtime, Senpai!
Hey! Senpai! Check this out! Open it, open it!
C'mon, Senpai! You're getting tubby! You need to slim down!
I just want you to be the best you that you can be!
That's the right attitude, Senpai! Never stop striving to be better!
...huh? What do you mean? You had to see this coming!
...hey, come on, I'm only trying to help you!
...yeeeeesh. You could afford to chill out a bit.
...alright, alright, I can take a hint...
Hey, Senpai!
You haven't forgotten our plans, right?
And when are we going to meet up back here?
Nice! I'm glad that you're a dependable guy, Senpai. Some guys are just...(yawn)
Whoa, sorry, that yawn was rude of me. I guess I'm tired after jogging to school...
Hey, smart idea, Senpai! Good thinking!
Depending on the ingredients I put into my food, I can get really sleepy...
...so I'll just be extra careful what I eat today!
Senpai! We gotta hurry if we're gonna catch that movie!
Of course! That was always the plan! Now let's get going!
Sup, Senpai! ...oh, wait. You seem kinda...sad. Is something wrong?
Oh! Hey, I can help you with that! I'll share my notes with you!
I'll only need a second to copy down the notes I took...
I'll put my notes on your desk in just a few minutes, okay?
Haha! It's no problem! I'm happy to help!
Just promise to meet me on the rooftop at lunchtime and tell me if my notes helped you!
Hey! Senpai! I gotta know! Did my notes help you out?
Oh, really?! Whoohoo, that's great news!
Whoa, haha, it made that much of a difference? Well, I'm really glad I helped you out!
...huh, what? Oh, shoot...what happened?
Whoa! I mean, I might be better at sports than book stuff, but still!
I'd like to think that I can at least takes notes and pass them along...
Shoot, Senpai...I don't know what to tell you. I don't know what went wrong...
I don't know what to say...but...let me try to make it up to you somehow, okay?
