Stealing is a game mechanic used in various elimination methods.

Stealing a Phone[]

Ayano can steal a phone from another girl to earn Info Points or to put something on her phone to eliminate her using Expulsion or Rejection methods.

In order to do that, Ayano first needs to splash her with some liquid. If it's not water, the victim will go to shower and leave her phone in the shower locker; Ayano can steal it when no one is looking. Then she can either manipulate it in some way herself or give it to Info-chan by sliding it under Info Club door, who will install a special software on it to blackmail the girl in the future.[1]

Ayano must return the phone to its owner before the end of the day. She cannot leave Akademi while still carrying it, and failing to return it on time will lead to a Game Over.

Stealing Keys[]

This type of stealing uses QTE (quick time event) mechanic. In order to steal keys from someone, the protagonist must stand behind the target. When the target stops moving, a small timer appears, showing how much time the player has left before the target will resume wandering.

The player has to press the key that appears on the screen before time runs out, which is either Q, E, F, or R. If the player presses the wrong key, fails to press it on time, or the other character spots the protagonist, she will be caught; it damage her reputation by 10 points by default, and depending on the exact cirumstances, it may lead to a Game Over or being sent to the guidance counselor.

As of now, the protagonist can steal the keys from the leaders of the Gardening Club and security guards near Dark Delights Bakery.

Other Types[]

Certain objects have the following mechanics tied to them:

  • Stealing Answer Sheet: uses a QTE mechanic similar to stealing the keys, however, produces loud noise attracting attention of the NPCs standing nearby. The protagonist must lure out the teachers first, either by using Stink Bombs or using a radio to distract the physical education teacher when she's alone in the faculty room.
  • Stealing Personal Belongings: stealing personal belongings like rings from Himeko Dereguchi process is the same as stealing a phone.
  • Others: most other items can simply be picked up. Items whose names are marked in red in Yandere Vision should not be picked up in the presence of others.
