Shigeaki Torayoshi is the father of Shiromi Torayoshi.
As he is never seen or mentioned in Yandere Simulator, it is unknown as to what his role would play.
Appearance[]
According to YandereDev, he believes that Shigeaki looks like an "adult male Shiromi".[1] He says it stems from the trope where the character's parents look identical to their children. He says it's "corny and cheesy and unrealistic", but that he can't help but imagine it.[1]
Personality[]
Shigeaki does not have any extreme personality traits, as he is closer to being average, normal people than "most of the game's characters."[2]
YandereDev describes him and his wife as "down-to-earth."[2]
Backstory[]
When he was young, Shigeaki was considered weird by the other kids because of his quietness. Nobody really wanted to play with him, which resulted in him having no friends.
One day, a mysterious old man passed through Shigeaki's town. The old man noticed Shigeaki's loneliness, and offered to play simple games with the young boy. One of the games was drawing symbols that Shigeaki had never seen before. When questioned the meaning of the symbols, the old man told the young boy that these symbols were secretive and only recognized "by ninja", for their allies to communicate messages with them. Shigeaki laughed at the old man when he heard this, assuming that the old man was just joking.
The old man would continue to play and teach Shigaki tricks and "games". These would feel more like learning specific skilled exercises than a simple game. The old man taught Shigeaki many tricks, such as walking without his footsteps making a sound or noise, distracting a person by utilizing a pebble, and carrying multiple metal objects without them clanging and creating noise, as well as many more unique tricks.
Shigeaki would eventually ask the old man for his identity, to which the old man gave an answer. The old man explained that he was in the intelligence agency and was responsible for espionage during the Second World War. His family helped the government for many generations in that field, going back as far as the 1400s, which was his claimed reason as to why the government "called on him". The old man claimed to be from a family of ninjas who had been "passing down the art of ninjutsu for centuries."
Shigeaki laughed in the old man's face after hearing this information. He asked the old man if the latter though that he was gullible enough to believe that. While the old man never responded to this answer with anger, he simply continued teaching Shigeaki more and more skills of ninjutsu. This would eventually convince Shigeaki that this man's family had knowledge of ancient skills used for assassination and spying in the past centuries.
The old man suddenly disappeared after teaching Shigeaki everything he knew. Shigeaki would sometimes wonder if he invented the old man from imagination, and if he never actually existed.[3]
Relationships[]
His Daughter[]
- Main article: Shiromi Torayoshi
Shiromi's eccentricities and her last name[4] comes from her father, but he isn't similar to her.[5]
They are not in poverty, but they aren't rich like the other student council members and their parents. Shigeaki's job often requires him to travel to many countries.[2]
He and his wife do humor Shiromi's "shenanigans", such as illegally keeping an endangered Bengal tiger.[6]
Shiromi's skills are likely from her father, who attempted to bond with her by teaching her tricks that the old man did when she was 6. However, Shiromi believed at that age where it didn't feel "cool" to play with her parents, and told Shigeaki "that's cringe!" at the thought of "playing ninja" with her father. This broke his heart, and he didn't try to pass on his knowledge. However, after Shiromi's near-death accident, she become more appreciative of both her parents, and expressed her gratitude and appreciation to them any and every chance she gets.[3]
Although this incident was in her early childhood, Shiromi kept that memory of hers. The look on her father's face when she said it was cringe to play ninja really affected her. To the point where she asked her father if he was still willing to play "those ninja games" with him. This overjoyed Shigeaki.[3]
Shiromi completed her training by her dad. Certain people, if they would know about her skills, would describe her as "Japan's last true 'Ninja'".[3]
His daughter enjoys telling jokes around him, but she would also provide a sincere answer if the situation calls for it.[7]
Trivia[]
- Shigeaki (written: 茂章, 茂昭, 成章, 成亮, 成彬, 成彰 or 重昭) is a given name.[8] 繁 (shige) meaning "flourishing, luxuriant" or 成 (shige) meaning "become" combined with 彰 (aki) meaning "clear, obvious" or 明 (aki) or 昭 (aki) both meaning "bright"[9]
- His last name meaning can be seen on his daughter's page.
- Shigeaki is one of the few people in today's Japan to have the complete skillset that anyone would describe as "ninja skills".[3]
- The backstory of the old man who taught Shigeaki wouldn't be important, according to YandereDev. It's likely someone who had ninjas for ancestors, and the last person of his clan.[10]
- He was given a name by YandereDev because he didn't want to say "Shiromi's father" multiple times.[3]
