This article is for Sakyu Basu. Were you looking for her younger sister or mother?

Sakyu Basu is a female student who attends Akademi in 202X.

Appearance[]

Sakyu has voluminous, wavy, back-length mellow lavender hair. While the left side of her hair is tucked behind her ear, the right side can be seen with her strands falling over her ear and side of the head. She has lavender eyebrows, yellow eyes with a hint of gold, rosewood eyeshadow and dull rose lipstick. She uses the "Elegant" animations and has a bust size of 1.5.

She wears the default uniform with a spiky golden ring with three pink jewels, the center jewel being coffin shaped with a little bat stamped on the center and dark grey stockings with a spider web pattern unless customized by the player. The stockings are really just her demonic physical appearance sliding down onto her legs, so that her legs are covered. She can then pass them off as stockings to other people.[3]

Her real eye color could be considered a spoiler.[4] When questioned about her eyes, she lies and says they're contact lenses.[5]

In her demonic form, she is half nude with curved black detailing covering her breasts, pelvis, and partial neck, chest and hips. The dull greyish purple detailing can be seen in huge blocks around her entire torso. Sakyu has black, thick, sharp sleeve cuffs which also show her demonic skin. She dons a lava red heart shaped jewel, which is attached to her choker. Her "stockings" are also attached to her body, and she has black curved horns which make a "c" shape around her temples. She uses a special idle animation which is a variation of the Elegant animation.

Before the October 31st, 2024 build, Sakyu had upper back-length purple hair with bangs parted to the right. She also had yellow eyes with catlike contact lenses, lavender and red eyeshadow, and hot pink lipstick. She had a mole on the left side of her chin. Sakyu's mole was intentionally removed in order to not replicate her asset model that was used as her base.[6]

Because she's a demon, she still has the same physical appearance even after 200 years. This is due to physical aging signs disappearing when a demon reaches an age of maturity.[7]

Personality[]

Sakyu Basu and her younger half-sister, Inkyu Basu, are a pair of young women who recently enrolled in Akademi. Their scores on the entrance exam were exceptionally high, as if they possessed knowledge far beyond their apparent ages. However, after classes began, their academic performance dropped to an average level, as if they were attempting to avoid drawing attention to themselves.

Sakyu's calm and mature nature contrasts greatly against the energetic and childlike behavior of her younger sister. Although both young women are friendly enough when approached by others, they usually keep to themselves, preferring each other's company above anything else. Despite their friendly demeanor, there are many students at Akademi who feel inexplicably intimidated by them.

When asked why they chose to attend Akademi, they always provide the same answer: "We're looking for something." This woefully short reply is far too vague to adequately satisfy the curiosity of anyone who wants to learn more about them. However, no matter how much they are begged to elaborate, they refuse to say anything more about their intentions at Akademi.

It may be worth noting that, on one occasion, when asked why she chose to attend Akademi, Inkyu misspoke. Instead of giving the usual answer - "We're looking for something" - she instead said something else:

"We're looking for someone."

— Description on official website.

There is no shortage of books in the world that seek to enthrall the reader with fantastical stories of supernatural beings. These books are widely regarded as fairy tales for the entertainment of small children. But, on rare occasion, one might discover a book which emphatically insists that the beings from these stories are not inventions of human imagination, but truly did exist.

This type of book - often at the cost of the author's credibility and reputation - makes the outlandish claim that mankind once shared the world with a wide variety of supernatural creatures who existed in significant numbers. However, these creatures could only subsist on human flesh, making co-existence impossible. Thus, the creatures were hunted down, nearly to complete extinction.

Because these supernatural creatures disintegrated upon death, no credible physical evidence of their existence remains, aside from a small number of contemporary paintings that allegedly depict these creatures, and written accounts of supposed encounters with these creatures - all of which have long been debunked and discredited by academic communities.

And yet, despite the dubious nature of these claims, there are those who choose to believe them. "Occult Researchers" - existing in small numbers, shunned by the rest of society - dedicate their lives to seeking empirical evidence of demons, ghosts, succubi, vampires, zombies, and any other type of supernatural being that is regarded as fictional by the rest of society.

According to the legends that these researchers believe, these supernatural beings posed such a threat to mankind that grand academies were built to teach young men and women the skills they would need to slay monsters - including, by some accounts, actual magic spells. As usual, there is no physical evidence to support the notion that these "monster slayer academies" truly existed.

Supposedly, Japan was once terrorized by paranormal beasts known as "Oni" until the 1800s, when a pair of elite monster slayers from the west arrived in Japan through supernatural means, and became almost single-handedly responsible for wiping out the entire monster population. This claim is not taken seriously by the Occult Research community, who have found countless holes in the story.

Regardless of what is true or untrue, there is a portion of the population - however small - who remains convinced that supernatural creatures not only exist, but sometimes walk among us, masquerading as humans. Succubi and vampires - the most humanoid of all supernatural beings - have the highest chance of escaping notice...if one chooses to believe in such things in the first place.

It is said that the only way to identify a non-human is to examine their pupils for unusual shapes...but, with the rising popularity of Saikou-brand cosmetic contact lenses, it is increasingly common for people to display unusually shaped pupils, thus making it unconventional to attempt to "identify a supernatural being" by simply pointing out the shape of a person's pupils.

— Old description on Official Website

A calm and mature young woman. Rarely gives a straight answer whenever she is asked personal questions. Although she is considered to be one of the most beautiful girls in school, boys rarely approach her, considering her to be intimidating and slightly unnerving.

— Description from Info-chan.

Wears contact lenses.
Enjoys spending time with her younger sister.
Rumoured to be a succubus disguised as a high school student... but only a fool would believe something like that.

— Old description from Info-chan.
SakyuCutePose

Sakyu striking a cute pose.

Among the Personas that are currently implemented in the game, Sakyu is a Social Butterfly. She will happily pose for a picture if Ayano Aishi aims her Phone at her. If she sees a corpse or witnesses a murder, she will run to the nearest crowded area and call the Police. If Ayano approaches, she will scream for her to go away, and if Ayano commits another murder in her eyesight, she will curl into a ball. If she sees Inkyu Basu's corpse, she'll run up to her and call the police, sobbing near her lifeless sister. She cannot participate in physical fights against murderers unless they kill her sister. If Inkyu is killed without Sakyu witnessing it, she will take on the Fragile persona.

She is knowledgeable, serious, and a "tsukkomi".[8]

Routine[]

BasuSistersTalk

Sakyu talking with her younger sister, Inkyu.

BasuSearchForMom

The sisters looking for "something".

BasuEat

Sakyu eating with her sister.

At 7:00 AM, Sakyu enters the school grounds, walks to her locker, and changes from her outdoor shoes to her indoor shoes. Then, she walks to the fountain located at the southwest side of the school and talks with her half-sister, Inkyu Basu. Oka Ruto used to stalk both of them the entire time. After her conversation, she walks around the exterior of the school with Inkyu, searching for something. They search places such as the fountains, Zen Gardens and the Confession Tree. At 8:00 AM, she walks into Classroom 2-2, sits at her desk, and plays on her phone. She starts her morning classes at 8:30 AM.

She leaves to eat her lunch on the Rooftop with her sister at 1:00 PM. She walks back to class again at 1:22 PM, sits at her desk and plays on her phone. Her afternoon classes start at 1:30 PM.

At 3:30 PM, she participates in cleaning time which ends at 4:00 PM. She will continue searching the school with Inkyu until the end of the day.

Every day, Inkyu will ask her a question, and she will respond with an answer. They will also comment on deaths, disappearances, atmosphere, school rules, and some lore. This feature has been added as of the May 1st, 2020 build.[8] If Inkyu was ever killed, she would mourn her half-sister's death instead of gossiping on the rooftop.

Among these daily discussions, they will drop some hints to the fact that they are indeed supernatural beings. An example is referring to the other students as ‘the humans’.

Relationships[]

SakyuMourn

Sakyu mourning her sister.

Inkyu Basu[]

Main article: Inkyu Basu

Inkyu Basu is Sakyu's younger half-sister. They are one year apart in age.[4]

They enjoy spending time together, as stated in Sakyu's Student Profile. Inkyu often asks Sakyu questions regarding the lore of Akademi and about any recent news.

As they are very close, if the player kills Inkyu in front of Sakyu, she will attack the player with much more force than she's usually capable of. If her half-sister disappears or is murdered, Sakyu will mourn her. This is because both sisters are constantly within a 10 meter (32.8 feet) radius of eachother. If they have to be apart from each other for more than a couple of hours for an "act", they both become severely depressed.[9][10] When either one of the sisters die, the deceased sister takes on another form (such as being a bat) and visits the alive sister at night.[10]

Sakyu will react negatively when Ayano gossips about Inkyu. The are close to the point that Sakyu lets Inkyu, who needs blood to stay alive, feed off her[11].

If she witnesses Ayano murdering her half-sister, she will react with the Heroic persona.

Sakyu and Inkyu have the same mother, but different fathers. However, they don't see this as a valid reason to feel any less of a connection.[12] Even outside of school, Sakyu and Inkyu are nearly inseparable. They spend more than 90% of their time with one another.[13]

It has been confirmed over the last two-hundred years, she and her sister have been traveling across the Earth looking for their mother, which could be a leading factor in why they are so close.[10]

In the Death Demon's ritual, it is revealed that both Sakyu and Inkyu have murdered countless people their entire lives to prolong their existence. However, YandereDev may change Sakyu's number, as while she did kill people, she hasn't killed as many as her younger sister. This is because of the existence of monster hunters, who know that monsters and demons exist in the real world. They go to places where there are mysterious disappearances, which is a sign of a monster present in that area murdering humans for nourishment or for entertainment. This is why there are less than 100 monsters left alive on Earth as of 202X.[14]

Even though the sisters are equal in power, Sakyu is 1% more powerful than her younger sister.[15]

Oka Ruto[]

Main article: Oka Ruto

Sakyu and her half-sister were stalked daily by Oka, in a futile search for evidence that they are supernatural beings: Sakyu being a succubus and Inkyu being a vampire.

Father[]

Main article: Small Characters

Sakyu's father is an incubus. After Sakyu's mother disappeared in 1797, when she was 10 years old, she looked to her father for guidance and protection and they had a good relationship[16]. However she only had the chance to spend about 3 years with her father before he was killed by monster hunters. This was a big turning point in Sakyu's life since it forced her to become independent (then, she was only 12 to 13 years old), it was also the moment she realized that humans are dangerous so she has to be cautious to avoid being murdered too. This is where she adopted her "don't have conflicts with humans if it can be avoided" philosophy.[17]

Trivia[]

  • She was implemented as of the November 15, 2015 Build.
  • When asked in 2015 what Sakyu would sound like, YandereDev indicated "[she] would sound serious and mature".[18]
    • As of the May 5th, 2016 Build, she now has a voiced, in-game dialogue when her ring goes missing. This no longer plays during regular gameplay, as the player can no longer steal her ring.
    • As of the May 1st, 2020 Build, she has fully voiced conversations with her sister.
  • She wears cosmetic contact lenses. YandereDev established this in the additional info section so that people wouldn't think that Sakyu is a cat monster in human form.[19]
  • According to her Student Profile, she is rumored to be a succubus who is disguised as a human.
    • This was confirmed in the October 31, 2024 Build.
    • As of the October 31st 2024 build, her student profile no longer mentions that.
  • Her model used to be shared by Himedere-chan and Dracula-chan.
  • She was born in 1787, as mentioned in one of her dialogues. This makes her 239 years old as of 202X Mode.
  • Sakyu thinks of humans the same way humans think of cattle[20].
  • Her name is a play on the Japanese Katakana transcription of the word "succubus", Sakyubasu (サキュバス).
  • In the future, if her half-sister dies, she might switch to the Sleuth persona.[21]
  • Her character model (along with Inkyu's model) can be bought in the Unity 3D Asset Store. The pack's name is Succubus Twins Character Pack. Her model's name is Arum.
  • Both of the Basu sisters will probably not join any clubs.[22]
  • Sakyu has never refused to answer any of Inkyu's questions because of how dumb they are. But if Inkyu asked something really dumb, she would make a face like : |.[4]
  • On Akademi's Kaobook page, she asks how old the school's sakura trees are.
    • This was previously asked by Taro Yamada, but was later changed to Sakyu.
  • Before the May 1st, 2020 Build, she and her half-sister walked to the rooftop and spent their day talking there.
  • If the player presses K while in the debug menu, Sakyu will spawn as a mindslave.
  • Previously, Sakyu would take off her ring at lunchtime while eating, which gave the player an easy opportunity to steal it. This has since been removed.
    • If the player stole Sakyu's ring and walked under the cherry tree, a mysterious voice would say "That ring…"
    • The voice that says "That ring…" belongs to Sakyu and Inkyu's mother. [23]
  • Her ring was gifted to her by her mother over 220 years ago.[23]
  • She wasn't in Akademi in 1989, as she was in another country with her sister searching for their mother.[24]
  • As she had no other choice, she would slaughter somebody if the latter figured out that herself or her sister were monsters.[25]
  • Sakyu eats "Dreams" to continue living[26], more specifically, the dreams men have when they are sleeping.[7] She doesn't need to kill to live, unlike her younger sister.[26]
  • Sakyu hasn't killed at Akademi yet, because she isn't hungry yet and doesn't want to draw suspicion to herself.
    • She would likely kill Oka with her sister if Oka figured out too much about the sisters.[27]
  • The Aishi hyponsis torture technique does not work on Sakyu, as she fools the torturer into thinking it's working on her.
    • This is because after living for over 2 centuries, she is easily bored. Sakyu wants experiences that could make her thrilled.
    • Sakyu would not kill her sister to decrease her boredom, nor come in physical contact with the weapon designed to murder demons.[28]
  • Both Sakyu and Inkyu have likely came in close proximity of famous historical figures. Such as being in France when Napoleon was the emperor. They saw him with their own eyes, but had never influenced human history or world events.[29]
  • Sakyu does not have to worry about being targeted or judged by other people. People in the modern day assume that anybody with a belief in the supernatural is either superstitious or delusional.[30]
  • Despite Sakyu wearing the ring and visiting the Confession Tree, YandereDev says that she can't trigger the two words from her mother, since Ayano has some "secret sauce" that the Basu sisters don't have.[31]
  • Sakyu doesn't get body odor like other humans do, nor does she have a pleasant smelling odor to "lure" in human prey. Sakyu only showers if the blood of her victims splashes onto her.[32]
    • This also means she has never brushed her teeth.[33]
  • She lives in "a normal house" when in disguise.[34]
  • Her power strength is "considerable", meaning that she has very strong strength.[35]

Huh? Where's my ring? It was right here a moment ago...oh, dear...I hope I can find it...

— Sakyu, after noticing that her ring was stolen before the May 1st 2022 Build.

Huh? My ring is missing...did someone take it?

— Sakyu, after noticing that her ring is stolen as of the May 3rd 2022 Build.

Does anyone know how old the school's sakura trees are?

— Sakyu's comment on Kaobook.

Yes, dear sister?
I heard that the faculty were planning to reject the proposal for an Occult Club, but the headmaster himself authorized it personally. He said that there was no harm in allowing the students to research..."fictional things" in their spare time.
In recent years, fewer and fewer people have been applying to become students at Akademi. It's probably due to the school's reputation for strict rules, harsh punishments, and high standards. The headmaster has been making a strong effort to turn the school's reputation around; he wants Akademi to become known as a place where students have as much freedom as possible. That's why we're allowed to wear accessories, use makeup, and bring our phones to school. The Headmaster's new policy is to provide students with as much freedom as reasonably possible...and that's probably why he authorized the Occult Club.
Well, I'm not sure about that...I've heard some... unsavory rumors about him...
Now, now, dear sister...gossip is quite distasteful. Let's not speak ill of others.

— Having a conversation with Inkyu on Monday during Week 1.

Yes, dear sister?
This school doesn't have enough space for most sport activities, so Akademi has a deal with a nearby school. Sports teams from Akademi are allowed to practice in that school's field, as long as they bring their own equipment. That's why you can find sports equipment being stored here.
Not this year - but in previous years, those teams did exist.
For over three years, Akademi presented itself as a prestigious school for young intellectuals. Science and technology-focused clubs have always been more popular than sports club at this school.
For a long time, that was how the general public perceived Akademi. However, the Headmaster has been attempting to re-brand Akademi as a place where all types of people are welcome.
The leader of the Sports club wants to compete in triathlons at the Olympics, so she's been focusing on running, swimming, and biking. That's why the Sports Club specializes in those areas.

— Having a conversation with Inkyu during Tuesday Week 1.

Yes, dear sister?
The emblem above the school gate is the logo of the Saikou Corporation. They originally built this school, and they still fund it to this day.
The founder of Saikou Corp wanted to provide the best possible school experience for his daughter, so he ordered the construction of an entire academy, just for her. He let her design everything about it, from the shape of the building to the name itself.
In modern times, the Saikou Corporation does not attempt to make Akademi part of its public image. Saikou Corp began distancing itself from Akademi starting in the early 90s, after a certain...controversy.
Oh, sister...how many times must I tell you? Gossiping is quite unseemly.
By the way, dear sister...'Saikou' is a very important name in this world. If you speak as though the name is unfamiliar to you, you will draw a lot of suspicion.

— Having a conversation with Inkyu on Wednesday during Week 1.

Yes, dear sister?
There *is* a boiler room...but the entrance is hidden. In fact, there are many secret rooms. The school was designed so that anything irrelevant to the students would be hidden from plain sight.
3:30 PM to 4:00 PM is Cleaning Time, when students clean up the school. However, after 6:00 PM, when all the students are gone, a team of workers show up to do maintenance and repairs that students wouldn't be able to take care of themselves.
It's another decision that was made by the young woman who this school was built for.
When something about the school seems peculiar, the answer is usually: "The girl who designed this place wanted it to be that way."
That's a good question. Her last public appearance was around thirty years ago.
Mm mm mm...who knows?

— Having a conversation with Inkyu on Thursday during Week 1.

Yes, dear sister?
Have patience, sweet sister. It's too soon to give up. We just have to keep looking.
Perhaps.
I suppose we might...do something about it.

— Having a conversation with Inkyu on Friday during Week 1.

Yes, dear sister?
She's not a transfer student, dear sister. She's the president of the cooking club.
Apparently, her family's bakery has fallen on hard times. They're not doing so well financially, and needed an extra pair of hands to help out for a week or so.
Perhaps. To raise money to keep her family's business afloat, she's holding a bake sale in the school plaza all week long. If you really want to support her, you can purchase a pastry or two.
Just be careful not to overindulge yourself, dear sister...in these sorts of situations, you always overeat and then sulk about how much weight you gained...

— Having a conversation with Inkyu on Monday during Week 2.

Yes, dear sister?
Apparently, there's a gang of delinquents at another school who plans to come here and beat up one of our students.
Our school's gym teacher - Kyoshi Tachikawa - is determined to prevent any violence from occurring, so she's watching the school entrance like a hawk
Apparently, Ms. Tachikawa is an Olympic gold medalist. Although she was a competitive swimmer - not a martial artist - she does have self-defense training, and could probably hold her own in a fight.
...with that said, I don't think she actually intends to get into a fight with a gang of thugs. The mere presence of an adult authority figure is probably enough to deter any juvenile delinquent from starting trouble.

— Having a conversation with Inkyu on Tuesday during Week 2.

Yes, dear sister?
Don't worry, dear sister; they're not as scary as they seem. Last year, those boys were targeted by bullies. So, this year, they're trying to look and act as intimidating as possible so that they won't be targeted again.
Yes, that's right. The guidance counselor is one of the only people at school who realizes that the boys are only pretending to be delinquents, which is why they don't get reprimanded or expelled.
That's right, dear sister. In fact, it's the opposite. Whenever they worry that a specific student at school might become a victim of bullying, they change their routines to spend more time in the proximity of that student, since their presence alone will scare off any potential bullies.
Haha...I suppose you could say that, dear sister.

— Having a conversation with Inkyu on Wednesday during Week 2.

Yes, dear sister?
At this school, the position of "librarian" is a voluntary one. If a student wants to check out a book, they're allowed to do so by simply filling out a form, without the supervision or presence of a librarian.
That seems to be the case. I noticed that very few students ever bother to visit this school's library...being a librarian probably didn't feel very fulfilling for her.
There is also a possibility that her...unusual nature was deterring people from wanting to visit the library.
Tut-tut, dear sister. If you don't have anything nice to say...don't say anything at all.

— Having a conversation with Inkyu on Thursday during Week 2.

Yes, dear sister?
At Akademi, the first week is usually the lightest in terms of schoolwork. It's almost an entire week dedicated to just taking it easy and gaining familiarity with the school. However...
...starting from the second week onwards, the work load increases significantly. Most students can no longer afford to idle away their time, and dedicate every waking moment to study.
...with that said, my dear sister...
...I...can't explain why they all choose to study in the hallways, rather than someplace sensible, like the library. It's a mystery...even to me.

— Having a conversation with Inkyu on Friday during Week 2.

It was quite concerning, indeed.
I'm having second thoughts, as well.
Of course, dear sister. I'll always protect you.

— Having a conversation with Inkyu after a police investigation.

That girl.
I'm quite surprised she got away with it.
She's a clever one. Knows how to cover her tracks.
No. Remember why we're here.
Don't worry, dear sister. I'll keep you safe.
Always and forever.

— Having a conversation with Inkyu after witnessing Ayano commit murder.

Please don't touch that!

— Unused Sakyu's voiceclip if she caught Ayano steal her ring.

Hey! She's my sister! Don't say anything weird about her!

— Rejecting Ayano's gossip about Inkyu Basu.

Sister?! What's wrong?! Are you hurt?!

— Sakyu discovering Inkyu's corpse.

Sister!! Sister, answer me!! Wake up, please, wake up!! Don't do this!! Oh, no, this can't be happening!! NO!! ...no...

— Sakyu upon reaching Inkyu's corpse.

...hello...police? ...I'm...a student at Akademi...my sister is...dead...I'm not sure what happened...please...send someone...anyone...

— Sakyu calling the police after finding Inkyu's corpse.

I see her, sister.
She certainly did, sister.
No, sister. I don't think she will.
That...is a very...good...question...sister...

— Sakyu after discovering Ayano found her and Inkyu's sister under the Confession Tree.

Patience, sister. She probably doesn't understand what she has in her hands right now...but, as long as she's holding it, she's a threat.
No, sister. It would not be wise to start a conflict in this cave...we can't risk the chance that a stray attack might hurt mother.
Aishi-san, there's no reason that this encounter must end in violence. Just put down the weapon, calmly walk away...and forget everything you saw here today.
(Sigh)...we'll play nice for now, but...I certainly hope we can wrap this up quickly...
I'm sure you're familiar with tales of supernatural beings, yes? Ghosts, mummies, vampires, werewolves, zombies, and other..."monsters," as humanity calls them.
Well...those stories were not mere myths. Those were historical accounts of real beings. Magic and monsters were once abundant in this world...but have faded into legend.
(Sigh) Sister...it would seem that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Shall we...shed our disguises?
(Sigh)...I suppose this conversation will go more smoothly if I start from the beginning.
I was born in 1787. My sister was born just one year after me. We had the same mother, but different fathers. My father was an incubus. Inkyu's father was a vampire.
Our mother is the only being of her kind, so there is no word that describes her. She feasts on the energy released when one human has strong feelings for another. In short...she feeds on love.
She was powerful...perhaps the most powerful among all of our kind. But, one day...she vanished without a trace. The last time we laid eyes on our mother was in 1797.
We refused to believe that she had been slain - cut down by a monster hunter, annihilated by a spell, destroyed by some new weapon...no. We could sense that she was still alive somewhere. We searched for her by following traces of her energy. She was well-traveled, and had set foot in nearly every corner of the world. Our search took us to a multitude of different countries.
Eventually, at the end of our long and arduous journey, we managed to determine the one place on Earth where the traces of her energy were strongest. It was here: this school, Akademi Academy.
Just as we had done dozens of times before, we disguised ourselves as humans and enrolled in the school. After accumulating centuries of knowledge, entrance exams no longer present a challenge.
I'm quite ashamed to say that it took us so long to pinpoint the exact location of our mother...we must have walked by this tree a dozen times without realizing she was under our noses...
I don't know what possessed you to demolish those rocks...but, I'm quite grateful to you for it; they were obstructing the flow of her energy, which prevented us from finding her...until now.
I would be most grateful if you would refrain from referring to our mother in such a crass manner...but, yes - that's her. There can be no doubt.
Oh, but she IS alive. Our kind turns into black smoke upon true death. Unless you see us disintegrate...we're not truly dead.
Throughout the centuries, there were a handful of occasions when someone attempted to kill us for some reason or another, and we had to pretend to "die" in order to maintain our human disguises.
We've been stabbed, dismembered, set on fire...none of these things can kill us, but we've become quite good at pretending to die from such events, in order to avoid arousing undue suspicion.
I suppose there's no use in playing dumb at this point. Yes, it's true - centuries ago, humans realized how to craft weaponry that could harm us...and even slay us. The weapon in your hands...I do not know its name, nor its origin, nor who wielded in the past...but, I can tell that it was made for the purpose of...cutting down my kind.
That sword was buried in my mother's chest when you found it, yes? Then...I can only presume that the weapon was not powerful enough to slay her, but was still somehow able to...trap here here.
The sword must have locked her in a state of suspended animation - neither dead nor alive. I do not know how she came to be under this tree, but I know how long she has been here - since 1797.
What a thought-provoking question, Aishi-san. I believe that only our mother back there knows the answer. Oh, I certainly would love to ask her...if only you would just step out of the way.
...oh, dear sister. I do wish you hadn't said that.
(Sigh)...see, sister? This is why you should always let me do the talking...
(Sigh)...it's okay, sister. We have triumphed over every challenge that we encountered thus far...there's no reason to think we won't triumph over this one, as well.
Just... don't underestimate her. I sense something...unusual...in her.
