Reiichi Tanaami

Reiichi Tanaami is one of the male students who attended Akademi in 1980s Mode. He was the President of the Student Council.

He replaced Ichiko Saikou after she graduated in 1988.

Appearance[]

Reiichi has collar-length platinum blond hair tied back into a small ponytail with shoulder-length bangs. He has light blue eyes. His eyebrows are noticeably thicker than most other students.

He wears the Student Council uniform alongside the "Red Armband of Leadership" on his left arm reading 生徒会 (seito kai), meaning Student Council written in kanji.

Out of all of his fellow members, he is considered to be the tallest.^[2]

Personality[]

Among the Personas that are currently implemented in the game, Reiichi is Dangerous. If he sees Ryoba Aishi commit murder, he will run up, spray her with pepper spray, and restrain her. Like the 202X student council members, he will push Ryoba away if she gets too close and will pepper spray her if she attempts to kill him without stealth or gets too close five times. He will break up fights between Ryoba and a delinquent by standing in between them.

Reiichi's personality is described to never be casual with anyone, even with his own family members. He is similar to Kuroko Kamenaga, formal and businesslike with his parents and everyone else.^[3]

Reiichi didn't hire a Vice President because he believes that he can handle everything by himself.^[4]This has never backfired on him.^[5]

Reiichi does not think about love, as the only type of girl he'd be interested in is someone who is intelligent, career-oriented and successful.^[6]

His favorite food is Sushi made with Scandinavian seafood, such as pickled herring and gravlax.^[3]

Reiichi thinks manga and anime is childish.^[7]

Routine[]

At 7:00 AM, Reiichi leaves the Student Council room and will begin patrolling all the rooms around the school, starting with the Infirmary. He does not patrol Clubs and Classrooms.

At 8:00 AM, Reiichi walks to Classroom 3-2 and sits at his desk. He his morning classes start at 8:30 AM. He resumes patrolling the rooms at 1:00 PM. He walks back to class at 1:22 PM and sits at his desk. His afternoon classes start at 1:30 PM. At 3:30 PM, resumes patrolling the rooms and at 4:00 PM, he goes to the Student Council Room and stays there until the end of the day.

On Fridays at 3:30 PM, he will go to the Meeting Room and meet up with the rest of the Student Council and all the club leaders to have their weekly meeting.

During Week 9 on Friday, at 4:20 PM, he will leave the Student Council Room along with the other members and goes to the back of the school to sit down and read by the Swimming Pool.

Reiichi views his relationship with his fellow student council members as co-workers.^[8]

His Family[]

Reiichi's relationship with his parents is best described by YandereDev as that he gives the impression of not being close with his family. However, he also says that Reiichi does not dislike his family or even feel coldly towards them, as it is just his personality. His parents raised their child to be respectful at all times, even if he was at home with them.^[3] Reiichi's father was similar to him, with the only exception that he was more colder than his son. He was Reiichi's only strong male role model growing up, hence Reiichi's personality.^[9]

Reiichi's father was strict on him, and made it transparent to his son that if he didn't excel in all areas of his life, he would be a failure and disappointment.^[9]

His family is wealthy and can even afford a chef to cook for them. However, Reiichi's mother insists on preparing Swedish-Japanese fusion dishes. There is one dish that Reiichi likes that only his family eats.^[3] YandereDev confirmed that Reiichi comes from a family of billionaires.^[10]

Due to his dignified nature, his hair is a result of his father never telling him to cut it. He would cut his hair short when his father tells him to, as much of his life revolves listening to his father's instructions.^[11]

Wife[]

Reiichi met his wife at his job in Saikou Corp, and developed his feelings for her because of his respect to her for being a hard and successful worker.^[12]

His name, Reiichi, means "thanking, expression of gratitude" (rei, 礼), and "number one" (ichi, 一).
- The writing "rei" (冷) is a homonym which means "cold", which can be a pun on his "cold and icy personality."
- His surname, Tanaami, means "rice paddy" (ta, 田), "name, distinguished, reputation" (na, 名), and "netting, network" (ami, 網).
He has an illustration on the Pool Sign, but only appears on it in 1980s Mode.
Reiichi is YandereDev's favorite student council member in 1980s Mode.^[13]
Canonically, Reiichi survived the events of 1989 and later went to work for Saikou Corp as an operating chief officer^[14] and had a family.^[15]
- Reiichi had two children after graduating from Akademi and getting married.^[16]
If Reiichi was given a flower, he would blankly stare at the person who gave him the flower, rotate his eyes to look at the flower without rotating his head or neck, look back at the person, and deny the flower,^[17] similarly to Sonoko Sakanoue or Teiko Nabatasai.
He has average strength in terms of self-defense.^[18]

A fan spotted Reiichi reading near the pool in Week 9, and YandereDev explained that the lore reason for that was because "he worries that someone might become violent if they witness Chigusa" getting "stolen away".^[19]
Outside of school, Reiichi wears clothing that looks expensive, classy and elegant.^[20]
Reiichi is half Swedish and half Japanese. His father is from Japan, while his mother is from Sweden.^[3]
If Reiichi caught someone skipping, he would clear his throat and look at the student with a cold gaze, while staying silent towards the student.^[21]
Reiichi enjoys listening to classical music, and he can play the piano.^[11]

  - YandereDev explained that his father forced him to learn an instrument, despite his wish being that he did not want to play one. As he prefers silence more than music, if he is insisted to listen to music, he is okay with classical.^[22]
Reiichi is great in everything.^[23] He also has the best grades out of every male in the 1980s.^[24]
A 202X student council member Reiichi would not get along with is Shiromi Torayoshi, since she is a mischievous prankster and he prefers to handle things professionally and seriously.^[25]
If Reiichi was called sexy, he would have a blank stare at the person, deliberately staring at them in silence, and purposefully making the situation awkward.^[26]
