Rei Ando Gallery
Rei Ando[1], also known as the Bakery Owner, is a minor antagonist who is featured in Amai's Befriending/Betrayal elimination method.
Appearance[]
Rei has wavy split dyed black and gray hair. She has straight bangs with some gaps in each strand. The front of her hair is tied up with purple bowties in a pigtail style, with very tight and loose twin drills that rest on her shoulders. The remainder of her hair is let down, reaching just below her shoulders. She has deep green eyes and wears heavy makeup consisting of white foundation, eyeliner, soft purple and red eyeshadow dabbed around half of each eye, and muted lavender lipstick.
She wears a purple dress with a black exterior sewn-in crinoline, puffing the bottom out like a doll. The jewel neckline includes a long black collar extending to her chest, with an upside-down cross and a light purple bowtie. There are also four white lines on the collar, along with the shoulder blade molded to be sharp and high. The cuffs of her dress are white with purple lines can be seen wrapping around the cuffs. Below the skirt setting includes the painted crinoline, purple fabric, and light purple bow ties. The ends of her puffed dress have a black and dark gray ruffle pattern. Her stockings have a snake like pattern with the dominant colors being black-purple and green-gray. Each ankle has one darkish purple bowtie in the shape of bat wings, held symmetrically by a black clip in between them. Her shoes are white with a purple arch pointing at her ankle bows.
In her illustration, she wears fishnet stockings with a dark gray base. She uses both of hands to hold a lavender plate with a decorated cake, which has a light purple icing ring at the bottom, a gray-ish velvet cake base and lavender purple icing, which is oozing from the cake. The top of the cake features mulled wine edible sugar glass shards, which are placed closely together to look like a sharp crystal. Her exterior crinoline also appears in a dark purple-gray, as oppose to black in the game.
Personality[]
Rei Ando, the owner of the Dark Delights bakery, is obsessed with the gothic lolita aesthetic, and incorporates it into every aspect of her life. She is so committed to the gothic style that she personally designed and handcrafted an entire wardrobe of gothic outfits for herself, and is completely unwilling to wear anything else.
Her life's goal is to achieve global renown by establishing the world's most successful chain of gothic-themed bakery-cafés. Currently, five are operating throughout Japan. Rei as meticulously designed every aspect of her café chain, from the color scheme to the devilish mascot character to the smallest details of the gothic decor.
Rei's obsession with pursuing of fame and fortune gradually caused her to develop several dark traits; she is ruthlessly self-centered, fiercely competitive, and prone to furious outbursts when things don't go her way. Whenever she opens a new bakery, Rei ensures its success through dubious means, secretly sabotaging nearby bakeries to steal their customers or force them out of business altogether.
Rei's husband, Minato, is a gentle soul who disapproves of his wife's underhanded tactics, but reluctantly participates in them anyway, driven by love and a fear of losing her. Rei insists on orchestrating every detail of her world with an unyielding grip, and to this end, she has even designed and handcrafted every outfit in her husband's wardrobe.
Because she strives for elegance in all areas of life, she is ashamed of her name - "Rei Ando" - because it is common and plain. Deeming her birth name far too mundane, she legally adopted a more "beautiful" name, and designed a fantastical persona to go along with it; while in her bakery, she is always in-character as "Reisender von Andere Welt," the "Die Prinzessin der Dunklen Freuden."
According to the official website, her personality is "Competitive" and her biggest weakness is "Her Own Arrogance".
According to YandereDev, "She is selfish, greedy, a sore loser, and becomes extremely angry when she doesn't get to have what she wants."[1] She also wants to become world famous for operating a successful "global chain of bakery-cafés in the world."[1]
Rei is spoiled, money-hungry, and envious. This is evident during Amai's Monday phone call as she buys rats and leaves them in the Odayaka Bakery, right when that latter bakery had a health inspection. The dialogue from Minato inside the Cafe shows that whenever she cannot get what she wants or achieve her desired results, she will "have a giant meltdown", which will result in a "huge fight" between them.
Her greediness is seen during the Befriend/Betray elimination method where she wants to use the rats for a tax write-off while trying to come up with excuses. Rei is a criminal who often sabotages other businesses similar to hers. Whenever she opens up her bakery in a new location, she often uses methods that cause the rivaling bakeries to either go out of business, or attract their customers to visit and purchase from hers instead.[1] She continuously attempts to cover up the rat purchases by trying to craft a lie for "if we ever get audited" to gain some money back from sabotaging the Odayaka Bakery during her dialogue, albeit none of the excuses she comes up with work.
Rei has committed multiple crimes and immoral acts. Immoral acts include tampering with ingredients, stealing recipes, leaving false online reviews, false advertisement of the rivaling bakery promising certain goods that aren't being sold, and hiring bakery's employees from her competing bakery. Rei's criminal acts include cutting the bakery's electricity, sabotaging deliveries and shipments, and false impersonation. YandereDev describes her crimes and acts as "very creative".[2]
She is captivated by the fashion and aesthetic of gothic lolita, which is seen in her bakery theme, mascot, design, appearance, everyday fashion, and even Minato, as well.[1]
Routine[]
Rei is seen pacing back and forth in her apartment living room with her phone in Dark Delights Bakery. When the dialogue finishes, she will continue to pace back and forth.
If she catches Ayano, she will shriek and scream for Minato.

Rei absolutely wants no competition for her bakery, as seen in Amai's phone call with her mother. She purposefully purchased two dozen rats and released the rodents inside the Odayaka Bakery before a health inspection.
Minato Ando[]

Rei's husband, Minato, who submissively wears the clothes that she sews for him.[1]
Minato Ando is the husband of Rei.
Described as a "timid man",[1] Minato's dialogue shows that although he fell for Rei's "dark and dangerous side", he firmly believes that the criminal activities she is committing are crossing the line. As he is an accessory[3] to a crime, he tries to figure out a way to tell her to get rid of the receipts. He believed that what his wife was doing was harmless, so he played along. But this resulted in him thinking about how she will get both of them into serious trouble.
Minato doesn't want to have the receipts used as evidence against them. He reluctantly aids her in her criminal activity. He is often protesting about these unlawful activities, but still ends up obeying her anyways.[1]
He loves her dearly, as he does not want his marriage to be at risk trying to convince her to get rid of the receipts. Minato would not divorce Rei even after going too far with her underhanded activities.[4]

- Her name is a gender neutral name, which can be written in various ways. The name is both a Japanese and Hebrew given name.[5]
- Her surname (written: 安藤 or 安東) is a Japanese surname which can have varying meanings.[6] "安東 meaning ‘peaceful east’ or ‘pacify the east’. The majority of bearers of this name now use the characters 安藤, meaning ‘peaceful wisteria’"[7]
- She and her husband shares the same surname with Nagako Ando. However, they are not related to her.[8]
- Five of her bakeries are currently operating throughout Japan.[1]
- Her name could be legally changed to something more "fantastical" like "Reisender von Andere Welt", due to her vanity.[1]
- Inside her bakery, she may go by a fancier name, such as "Die Prinzessin der Dunklen Freuden".[1]
- If Ayano successfully obtained the incriminating documents. the incriminating evidence (such as the purchases, whiteboards, etc.) could be used against Rei in court. However, she could argue that the evidence was obtained illegally or that she never did those drawings and that it was planted[9].
- Prosecutors could defer the case, as is common in Japan.[10]
- It would affect the public opinion of the bakery, as Amai's family can confront Rei and threaten to put her bad actions on social media. This would completely scare Rei into "abandoning all criminal activity and being completely lawful" from then on.[9]
- YandereDev also said that the Odayaka family could've approached Rei and Minato with the evidence and told them to stop their criminal activities before police got involved. Rei would had realized she was going too far and stopped the criminal activity, since legal trouble could be really bad for her business. From that day forward, Rei strived to gain fame without using underhanded methods to promote her bakery.[11]
- If Shoku Tsuburaya was matchmade with Amai Odayaka, the latter would tell him about her problem. Shoku would then confront Rei and her husband, with Rei denying all wrongdoing. Minato would then recognize that both of them could get into serious trouble if Rei continued her antics. Finally, he would force Rei to apologize and cease her behavior.[12]
- According to her second whiteboard, Rei has sabotaged at least five bakeries, including the Odayaka Bakery.
- She sews her own clothes.[1]
- Her snake-like stockings are likely meant to emphasize her sly, deceitful, manipulative, and untrustworthy behavior.
- If the decapitated woman in Amai's driven to murder illustration was drawn in 2024, it would've been Rei.[13]
