Maka Tansei (real name: Mana Tanahashi) is one of the female students who currently attends Akademi.
Appearance[]
Maka has wavy, chest-length emerald green hair gathered into a low bun, secured by a dark purple hairband and two markers. She has bright magenta eyes. Her bust size is 1.
She wears the default school uniform with a black beret unless customized by the player.
She is also "slightly short". Not very short, but a little less than the average height.[2] Out of the rest of her club members, She is the shortest amongst them.[3]

Personality[]
A quirky, eccentric girl who doesn't really care what others think of her. She only draws bizarre, abstract artwork that doesn't make sense to anyone but herself.

Among the Personas that are currently implemented in the game, Maka is a Social Butterfly. She will happily pose for a picture if Ayano Aishi aims her Phone at her. If she sees a corpse or witnesses a murder, she will run to the nearest populated area and call the Police. If Ayano approaches, she will scream for her to go away, and if Ayano commits another murder in her eyesight, she will curl into a ball. She cannot participate in physical fights against murderers, even if Efude Nurimono is killed.
According to YandereDev, she does not have any interest in mundane things and is only interested in exciting topics such as aliens, time travel, and psychic powers. In that sense, she can be considered similar to the fictional character Haruhi Suzumiya, who also has an interest in the supernatural. When Maka eats, she tries to eat something new that she has not eaten before, as she thinks it's boring to always eat the same food.[5]
YandereDev states that Maka's behavior could be described as chūnibyō (中二病, lit. "middle-second-year syndrome"), a term referring to early teens who have delusions of grandeur. She has no desire to behave normally and only behaves in whatever way is entertaining to herself, regardless of how much she may confuse other people. She does not think of others very often. She thinks that the other members of the art club are boring, and considers the only interesting people at school to be Sakyu Basu, Inkyu Basu, and some of the other club leaders.[5][2]

At 7:00 AM, Maka enters the school grounds with the other members of the Art Club. She walks to her locker at 7:05 AM and changes from her outdoor shoes to her indoor shoes. At 7:15 AM, she walks outside of the Science Club on the Third Floor and sketches a small stack of boxes.

At 8:00 AM, she walks to Classroom 1-2, sits at her desk and plays on her phone. She starts her morning classes at 8:30 AM and leaves to eat her lunch outside the Art Club at 1:00 PM.
She walks back to class at 1:30 PM and participates in cleaning time between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM. At 4:00 PM, she heads to the Art Club paints a painting of a tree with several multicolored circles until the end of the day. On Friday afternoons, she and the other Art Club members will gather behind the cherry tree and paint something related to it. Maka paints an abstract version of the tree with geometric shapes.
If the Art Club is disbanded, she will still sketch the boxes.
Week 2[]
At 7:00 AM, Maka enters the school grounds. She walks to her locker at 7:05 AM and changes her shoes. She will then go to read outside the Sewing Room.
At 8:15 AM, she walks to Classroom 1-2, sits at her desk and plays on her phone. She starts her morning classes at 8:30 AM and leaves to eat her lunch outside the Art Club at 1:00 PM.
She walks back to class at 1:30 PM and participates in cleaning time between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM. At 4:00 PM, she will head to the Plaza to sit on the Fountain and read until the end of the day. On Friday afternoon, she and the other Art Club members will gather behind the cherry tree and paint.

- She was implemented in the July 1st, 2018 Build.
- Her nickname is a play on the words 'マーカー' (Mākā; marker) and '丹青' (tansei; red and cyan; painting materials).
- As of the July 1st, 2020 build, her real name is Mana Tanahashi.
- Her real name, Mana, means "true, green/vegetables" (ma; 真菜). Her surname, Tanahashi, means "shelf, bridge" (Tanahashi; 棚橋).
- Her and Geiju Tsuka are both neuroatypical.[6]
- Maka's room is full of strange objects that she has collected. It probably looks disorganized to most people, but in her eyes, everything is organized.[5]
- If someone confessed to her, she would only accept the confession if she believed that the person was "special" (alien, time traveler, psychic, etc...) in some way.[5]
- She also shares the same personality with Shiromi Torayoshi and Kaga Kusha.
- Maka is most likely to have a fursona, alongside Shiromi Torayoshi.[7]
