Kuu Dere (real name: Kumi Demura) is the protagonist of Kuudere Simulator, Kuudere Simulator 2, and Kuudere Simulator 3, as well as one of the female students who currently attend Akademi. She is the fourth student to be introduced as an Easter Egg.
She appears in the Kuudere Simulator spin-off games and the "I Want My Senpai Back" video.[2] Her name was stated as Kuudere-chan in the description.
In the Kuudere Simulator games, she sits on a wooden chair in the middle of an empty room and does not move. The player can scroll the mouse around to get a better view of her.
As of the November 15th, 2015 Build, Kuudere-chan was added to Yandere Simulator as a student with the name Kuu Dere whose real name is now Kumi Demura as of the July 1st, 2020 build.
Appearance[]
Kuu has chin-length azure blue hair and red eyes. She has the same skin tone as Ayano Aishi. Her bust size is 1.
She wears the default school uniform with knee-high white socks unless customized by the player.
In the Kuudere Simulator, her hair is more oval-shaped and longer.
Personality[]
The school librarian.
Strongly prefers solitude.
Very rarely expresses emotions.

Kuu hiding her face.
Among the Personas that are currently implemented in the game, Kuu is a Loner. If she sees a corpse or witnesses a murder, she will run out of school and call the Police. She cannot participate in physical fights against murderers. She will hide her face if Ayano Aishi aims her Phone at her.
Kuu is a kuudere. A kuudere is a common personality trope in anime that displays a cool and inexpressive behavior at first as they keep their emotions in check (Kuu), but over time adopts a lovestruck and expressive attitude (Dere).
At one point, it was planned that Kuu would have a unique reaction to murder. This, however, was a special case that applied only to her and Robot-chan and would be difficult from the programming side.[3] This persona may have been called "Apathetic".[4] This idea has since been scrapped.
According to YandereDev, Kuu is only pretending to be emotionless because she thinks that acting cold and distant makes her seem cool.[5] The Death Demon's ritual also confirms this, as Kuu pretends to be emotionless to appear cool and mysterious when other people think of her.
According to YandereDev, Kuu's liking of violence is a "weird quirk of hers".[6] She secretly has dark thoughts and wants to see violence visited on the people that she dislikes.[7]

Trivia[]
- There was a bug in the January 15th, 2016 Build where she had Mai Waifu's profile. This was later fixed in the February 1st, 2016 Build.
- YandereDev likes the idea of her repeating her quotes from Kuudere Simulator; however, this would require a lot of "special case" code.[8]
- She was implemented into Yandere Simulator in the November 15th, 2015 Build.
- As of the March 31st, 2018 Build, the edges of her hair were more defined with dark blue, but as of the April 26th, 2018 Build, that was no longer the case, and her hair was colored dark aqua. Her hair is derived from Honoka Futaba, a character that can be bought in the Unity3D Asset Store.[9]
- Pressing E while playing the Kuudere Simulator will give her an eyepatch. Pressing T will turn her into Tsundere-chan. Pressing H in Kuudere Simulator 2 will turn her into Himedere-chan.
- All of her dialogue in Kuudere Simulator, Kuudere Simulator 2, and Kuudere Simulator 3 appears as blue text.
- In older builds, her Student Profile used to say that she had not been witnessed exhibiting emotions. However, she would show fear when she witnessed murder.
- In her cameo in "I Want My Senpai Back", she has brown eyes instead of red.
- Her appearance is a reference to Rei Ayanami from Neon Genesis Evangelion.[10]
- She and Kokuma Jutsu are references to Rei Ayanami.
- She makes a small cameo in the gaming club by appearing on the dating simulator game screen.
- The reason why she was moved to another spot on the rooftop is because, during lunchtime, the Basu sisters both eat their lunch.
- As of the July 18th, 2017 Build, Kuu is the school librarian.
- If YandereDev decides to have student nicknames, then her real name would not be Kuu Dere and this would instead be a nickname given to her, due to her emotionless and apathetic nature.[11] He suggested "Kumiko Deremoto" as a hypothetical name for her.[12]
- As of a later update, Kuu Dere is now her nickname and her real name is Kumi Demura.
- The ku part of her real name, Kumi, can be written as "long time" (久), "coming" (来), "nine" (九), or "crimson" (紅), while the "mi" part can be written as "beauty" (美), "fruit" (実), "not yet" (未), or "sea" (海).
- Her surname, Demura, means "to come out" (de, 出) and "village" (mura, 村).
- Kumi along with Midori Gurin are only students that need 25 friendship points in order to get befriended.
- In 2015, YandereDev developed a backstory for Kuu and Yui Rio which was based on the Japanese myth "The Red Oni And The Blue Oni" and how Kuu became a emotionless girl, and Yui being a bitter sadist. This was scrapped however, since they both live in different time periods in Yandere Simulator.[15]
- Both girls were best friends with each other. Yui wanted more friends, but no other kid wanted to play with her. Kuu had an idea to allow herself to be disruptive to the other kids, and let Yui save the day by chasing Kuu away. Yui agreed and they acted on the plan, which resulted in Yui gaining new friends. However, when she tried to play with Kuu again, the latter rejected, citing that the kids will realize that Yui tricked them and will hate her if they saw both of them playing together. Yui was devastated that she lost the only real friend she had for a bunch of "superficial" friends she made. This incident stunted them from mentally developing properly.[15]
