Komako Funakoshi is the eighth rival and one of the female students who attended Akademi in 1980s Mode. Following the game's storyline, she was Ryoba's ninth rival.

Appearance[]

Current[]

Komako has fair skin and lavender eyes. She has waist-length straight black hair with side-swept bangs, two neck-length tufts on either side.

She wears the default 1980s uniform with a small, dark lavender flower pinned on the left side of her head and white pantyhose.

Previous[]

Before the October 24th, 2021 Build, her hair was chest-length.

Personality[]

Komako is an elegant and beautiful young woman who is considered to be the most popular girl at Akademi.
She is considered to embody all of the traits that are associated with the 'ideal Japanese wife' - being kind, gentle, graceful, humble, patient, virtuous, respectful, benevolent, honest, charitable, faithful, etc.
She is constantly surrounded by girls who want to learn how to be more like her, and boys who want to admire her.

— Description from Official Website.

An elegant and beautiful girl who embodies the traditional idea of the 'ideal' Japanese wife. Constantly surrounded by male and female admirers.

— Description in Ryoba's notebook.

Among the Personas that are currently implemented in the game, Komako is Lovestruck. If she witnesses Ryoba Aishi commit murder, she will run to Jokichi Yudasei and inform him that Ryoba is a murderer, causing an automatic Game Over. If she finds a corpse, she will run to Jokichi and tell him there's a murderer on campus; the two of them then run out of school and call the police. Komako will only agree to follow Ryoba if she has a high enough reputation, suggesting that she doesn't trust others easily.

Her white pantyhose represents her being the most pure-hearted character in the game.[2]

Komako will become a Teacher's Pet on subsequent weeks if she is eliminated peacefully and still attends Akademi.

Introduction[]

Yamato Nadeshiko...it's a phrase that refers to the traditional Japanese concept of 'ideal woman'. A woman who is pure and feminine, gentle, graceful, humble, patient, faithful... Meek. Quiet. Timid. Keep the house clean. Bear lots of children. Respect your husband no matter what. Know your place. Yamato Nadeshiko. It's often said that this type of woman is going extinct... that it's rare to find a woman who embodies those traits in this day and age. But, there's one girl at Akademi who fits that description perfectly. The most popular girl in school. Every boy wants her. Every girl wants to be her. Even my senpai has fallen under her spell. Well it's time to break the spell that this witch has cast over the school. I'd like to stain her perfect reputation and turn her adoring fans into her enemies...

— Ryoba's monologue about Komako.

Quotes[]

Well, now that I think about it...there actually is a request that I would like to make, but I would only be able to ask such a favor of someone who has befriended at least 10 people at this school.

— Trying to do Komako's task if you haven't befriended at least 10 students.

I am terribly sorry if it disappoints you to hear this, but, to be honest, there is nothing that I would like to ask for help with. There are no favors you can do for me. However, with that said...
If your goal is to somehow prove yourself to me, I can tell you what would earn you my respect. I would like to see you go fourth and make as many people happy as humanly possible.
In other words...talk to the other students at school, find out what is troubling them, and solve their respective problems. If you could do this for twenty students, then I would truly respect you.

— Komako's task.

Oh? You are thinking of this as a "Task" to complete? My, my - I certainly did not expect you to interpret my words that way. Well, as long as you bring happiness to others, I suppose it's fine.

— Accepting her task.

I am not surprised to hear you say that. It is quite rare to find someone who is willing to dedicate themself to the pursuit of bringing happiness to others...

— Declining her task.

I have been seeing so many smiling faces at school lately - and they are all saying that you are the cause of their joy! I truly respect you for devoting your time to spreading cheer throughout school!

— Completing her task.

Thank you for being so kind. To be honest, yes, there is a problem that I would like to ask for help with.
There's an abandoned insane asylum just outside of town. Spending a night there is a popular "test of courage."
I wanted to prove to myself that courage is a trait I do not lack...so I went to the asylum. It was a foolish mistake.
In the asylum, I was confronted by a man with a knife. I ran from him, but I got cornered in a room with only one exit.
He blocked the doorway and told me...to strip my clothing off. I was terrified of losing my life, so...I did as I was told.
He didn't lay a hand on me...but he took out a camera and...took a bunch of pictures of me...
Actually, he had a big duffle bag with him. At one point, I saw what was inside...a bunch of photographs of other girls.
Ugh, I bet that creep is the one who started the rumor about the asylum being a good place for a "test of courage..."
I wonder how many other girls have already been victimized in the same way that I was...
Eventually, I saw an opportunity to escape, so I grabbed my clothes and ran away. I still have nightmares about it...
The only man who should see a woman nude is her husband! If the police saw those photos, I could never be a bride!
Sadly, I do not think that it will be possible to reason with the man. Destruction of those photos is the only option. But...
A bunch of homeless people and drug addicts are squatting in the asylum right now. It's become a real dangerous place...
As much as I appreciate your offer, I must turn it down. I cannot put another person's safety before my own.
...if...you insist...then...I may have to accept your offer...for...I truly cannot solve this problem on my own...
...here is my telephone number...please...be cautious...I will be praying for your safe return...

— Komako and Ryoba's conversation.

Senpai, may I please speak with you?
I was thinking about you this morning. I wanted to do something nice for you.
I have prepared a meal for you. Would you be willing to accept it?
Oh...I'm sorry...I shouldn't have made you a meal without your permission...
Splendid! At 5:15 PM, would you meet me here, so you can tell me how it tasted?
Oh, I sincerely hope that you will enjoy it!

— Komako and Senpai's Monday morning conversation.

Greetings, Senpai. Please, tell me how the bento tasted.

— Komako asking how her bento was.

It was? Oh, I am ever so glad to hear that!
Oh, Senpai...it truly makes my heart soar to hear such words...
I can't tell you how much of a relief it is that you enjoyed it...
Senpai...I always feel nervous and scared when walking alone...
Would you please...accompany me as I walk home today?
Oh, thank you, Senpai! You're such a gentleman!

— Komako reacting to Senpai liking her meal.

...there wasn't...anything wrong with it...was there...?...
Oh...oh, no...don't tell me that there was a problem...
...! I...I'm speechless...did that...did that really happen?
Senpai...I can't apologize enough for this...forgive me...

— Komako reacting to Senpai disliking her meal.

Greetings, Senpai. I hope that you have been well since we last spoke.
Oh, how kind of you! I really appreciate that!
I've been interested in this book for quite a long time now.
I only want to read one chapter so I can decide if I want to buy it.
I'll read it at lunchtime. When should I return it to you?
I promise to be here at that time, then!

— Komako and Senpai's Tuesday morning conversation.

Hello, Senpai! This book is quite marvelous so far!
I most certainly will be purchasing my own copy very soon!
Oh, I shall! I can only wonder at what twists must await.
Senpai, as I said yesterday, I feel quite frightened when I walk alone...
Would you please accompany as I walk home?
Oh, ever the gentleman! Well, then. Let us depart!

— Komako and Senpai's Tuesday after school conversation if the book wasn't stolen.

Senpai...I must beg you for your forgiveness...
I lost the book that you lent me. There is no excuse for this.
I am never careless with the belongings of others...but, today...
Senpai, allow me to buy you a new one. It is the least I can do.
...I...no...no, I haven't really let this happen...have I...?...

— Komako and Senpai's Tuesday after school conversation if the book was stolen.

Good morning. Senpai. May I please ask you a question?
I have brought a gift that I would like to give you. But...
...it would be so embarrassing to give it to you here...
Oh! That's such a clever idea! Good thinking, Senpai!
Oh, I promise you, it is nothing too special...just a small gift.
I will look forward to our meeting at lunchtime then, Senpai!

— Komako and Senpai's Wednesday morning conversation.

Senpai! Thank you so much for coming. Please...accept this gift.

— Komako giving Senpai her present.

Senpai...do you recognize this flower? This is a red camellia.
Do you...understand the meaning...of a red camellia?
...oh...I see...I suppose my message was...unclear...sorry to trouble you.

— Komako and Senpai's Wednesday conversation at lunch if the present wasn't sabotaged.

...huh? What's so surprising?
...I...uh...oh...so, not a fan, then...?
...oh...wow...you really...dislike it, then, huh...
...I...I was just trying to...yeah...okay...

— Komako and Senpai's Wednesday conversation at lunch if the present was sabotaged.

Good morning, Senpai. Are we still going to watch a motion picture later tonight?
I'm so glad to hear that. We'll meet each other here at 5:15 PM, right?
I'm very glad that I...I...
...oh, my. I'm very sorry. I nearly yawned a moment ago...
That is a good suggestion, Senpai! I believe that I'll do so!
I admit that I am sometimes guilty of oversleeping, but...
...it won't be a problem if I'm careful what I eat at lunchtime!

— Komako and Senpai's Thursday morning conversation.

Good afternoon, Senpai. Are you ready to see the motion picture?
Splendid! Let's be on our way, then.

— Komako and Senpai's Thursday afternoon conversation if she didn't fall asleep.

Good morning, Senpai. Oh dear, oh dear...you seem sad today. What's wrong?
Ah! Senpai! I want to help you! I'll make a copy of my notes and give them to you!
I'll go to my desk to create the copy, and then I'll put the copy on your desk.
I won't take no for an answer! I want to help you however I can, Senpai!
I'm so happy to have an opportunity to help you out, Senpai!
Please, meet me on the rooftop at lunchtime to let me know if my notes were useful!

— Komako and Senpai's Friday morning conversation.

Good afternoon, Senpai. I'm very interested in learning if my notes were of use to you.

— Komako asking Senpai if her notes helped him.

Oh, wonderful! I'm absolutely delighted to hear that, Senpai!
Oh, senpai...you don't know how happy it makes me to know that I was able to help you!

— Komako and Senpai's Friday lunchtime conversation if the notes were not sabotaged.

...what?! Oh, no!! What happened, Senpai?!
No! no, Senpai, I would never pull a prank on you - or anyone!
How could this be possible...I thought that my notes were flawless...
I'm so sorry, Senpai...there truly is no excuse for this mistake...
...all I can do is give you my word that I'll never let it happen again...

— Komako and Senpai's Friday lunchtime conversation if the notes were sabotaged.
