Kaguya Wakaizumi is the first rival and one of the female students who attended Akademi in 1980s Mode. Following the game's storyline, she was Ryoba's second rival.
Kaguya has shoulder-length bright pink hair with two small side ponytails each held by a yellow hair accessory. She has violet eyes.
She wears the default 1980s uniform with white knee-length socks. If the player completes her task, she will wear pink knee-length socks.
Kaguya's white knee-socks represent her slight selfishness in trying to force friendship on the Rainbow Girls despite being aware of their discomfort.[2]
She smells like peony perfume, and even enjoys wearing the perfume.[3]

She spends most of her time in the school plaza chatting with a group of students that have been nicknamed 'The Rainbow Girls' because every one of them has differently-colored hair. With her unique bright pink hair, Kaguya is hoping that she can become the latest addition to the rainbow crew.

Among the Personas that are currently implemented in the game, Kaguya is Lovestruck. If she witnesses Ryoba Aishi commit murder, she will run to Jokichi Yudasei and inform him that Ryoba is a murderer, causing an automatic Game Over. If she encounters a corpse, she will run to Jokichi and tell him there is a murder in Akademi; the two will then run out of school and call the police. Kaguya will only agree to follow Ryoba if she has a high enough reputation, suggesting that she doesn't trust others easily.
Kaguya will become a Snitch in subsequent weeks if she is eliminated peacefully and still attends Akademi.

In the introduction cutscene after the tutorial, Kaguya's silhouette is shown as Ryoba mentions that someone is in love with Jokichi.

Routine[]
Week 1[]
At 7:00 AM, Kaguya walks to her locker and changes her shoes. She then heads to Classroom 2-1 to put down her bag and walks to the plaza to gossip with the Rainbow Girls. She heads back to her classroom at 8:00 AM and sits at her desk. She begins her morning classes at 8:30 AM.

At 1:00 PM, she goes to the rooftop to eat lunch with the Rainbow Students, and then heads back to class at 1:25 PM.
She lastly participates in cleaning time from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM and goes to the plaza afterwards. She changes her shoes at 5:25 PM and heads out of school.
Week 2 and onwards[]
If Kaguya survives her week but still attends school, she will go to the west side of the school to pet a cat outside of school.

Monday
At 7:00 AM, Kaguya gives Jokichi a bento, claiming she made it for her sister, Kaho[4], and doesn't want it to be wasted after Kaho forgot it. Then, she will ask Jokichi to meet her at 5:15 PM and tell her how it tasted, which he will accept. At 5:15 PM, Jokichi and Kaguya meet outside the gate and Kaguya asks how the bento was. If the bento wasn't poisoned with an emetic poison, Jokichi says he enjoyed it and Kaguya is a good cook; they then walk home together. If the bento was poisoned, Jokichi says that the bento made him sick and they walk home separately.
Tuesday
At 7:00 AM, Jokichi gives Kaguya a book she had asked about and she puts it in her bookbag. They then decide to meet at 5:15 PM so she can return the book. At 5:15 PM, Jokichi and Kaguya meet outside the gate and Jokichi asks her what she thought of it. If the book wasn't stolen, Kaguya says it was interesting and gives it back as she's planning on buying her own copy soon; they then walk home together. If the book was stolen, Kaguya apologizes for losing it and they walk home separately.
Wednesday
At 7:00 AM, Kaguya tells Jokichi she has a gift for him which she'll give to him at lunchtime. She leaves the gift on her desk when she goes to drop off her bag. At 1:00PM, Kaguya and Jokichi meet on the Rooftop where she gives him the gift box. If the contents weren't replaced with contraband, the box will contain a Saikou DotMatrix she borrowed from her brother, Kagemori[5], after hearing that Jokichi was interested in handheld consoles; they then eat lunch together. If the contents were replaced, Jokichi will refuse the gift, leaving a perplexed Kaguya to eat lunch alone.
Thursday
At 7:00 AM, Kaguya and Jokichi talk about a movie they're planning to see after school. During this conversation, Kaguya yawns and Jokichi suggests she take a nap after cleaning time so she doesn't sleep through the movie. At 4:00 PM, she takes a nap in the Infirmary. If her bento wasn't poisoned with a Sedative, Kaguya meets Jokichi at the gate at 5:15 PM and they leave school to see the movie. If her bento was poisoned, Jokichi will get impatient and go home at 5:55 PM.
Friday
At 7:00 AM, Kaguya talks to Jokichi. During this conversation, Jokichi will tell her that he is worried about a test that they will have before lunch. Unfortunately, he lost all of the notes he took and was unable to study before the test. Kaguya copies her notes for him and leaves them on his desk. At 1:00 PM, Kaguya and Jokichi will meet on the roof and she will ask him if the notes helped. If the notes weren't sabotaged, Jokichi says he aced the test and they eat lunch together. If the notes were sabotaged, Jokichi says the notes didn't help him at all and Kaguya figures that she made a mistake in her haste to copy them and they eat lunch separately.
At 5:00 PM, Kaguya will go to Jokichi's locker and leave a note asking him to meet her under the cherry tree behind the school. If Ryoba Aishimatchmakes her, she will go to Banri Masayuki's locker instead. Kaguya will then run to the Confession Tree and wait for either Jokichi or Banri. She will then confess her love to him. If she confesses to Jokichi, he will either accept her feelings or reject them. If she confesses to Banri, he will accept her feelings.
"Kaguya Wakaizumi wants a pair of pink socks so she can fit in with the girls that she wants to be friends with. Go to the Sewing Room, grab some cloth, and use a sewing machine to make a pair of pink socks for her."
After completing the task, Kaguya's socks will change to the socks the player made.
During the first week of 1980s Mode, Kaguya befriends Jokichi and begins to develop feelings for him. Canonically, however, her relationship with him is eventually destroyed due to Ryoba sabotaging her events which causes Jokichi to reject her love confession, leading to her avoiding him in subsequent weeks.
YandereDev has officially stated that Kaguya moved on with her life and got married, meaning she is alive in the canon timeline.[6] Kaguya's determination to confessing to Jokichi, despite the failed interactions, were because she was hopeful for Jokichi to accept her confession.[7]
In the first week of 1980s Mode, Kaguya talks with the rainbow-haired girls in the hopes of becoming friends with them. She knows that they're uncomfortable with her pushiness, but ignores it. However, after the events of Week 1, she realized she didn't fit in with them and accepted that she was forcing the friendship. After that, she stopped hanging with them. [14]
Kaho and Kagemori Wakaizumi[]
Kaguya has two siblings, a brother and sister, who she mentioned in her event dialogue. YandereDev has stated that her brother's name is Kagemori, while her sister is Kaho. Her relationship with her siblings is currently unknown.[4][5]
Kaguya thought of Moeko as weird, since the latter only wanted to hang out with boys. She couldn't figure out if Moeko was a "boy-crazy girl" who wanted to flirt with other guys, or was super masculine and couldn't get along with feminine friends.[15]
Canon Elimination[]

The player can acquire the poison by going to the Convenience Store and purchasing Rat Poison, or unlocking (pickpocketing, lockpicking or joining the club) the Gardening Club shed and grabbing the Rat Poison.
The player must wait for Jokichi to place the Bento on his desk, and then add the poison.
Tuesday: Stealing The Borrowed Book.
Follow Kaguya to her desk, open her bag, click the "Books" prompt, and click "Steal Borrowed Book" from her book bag.
Wednesday: Sabotaged Gift.
Before school, the player must buy one of the following four:
Condoms (found in Convenience Store), Alcohol (purchase with Fake ID or get it from the Headmaster's Office), Narcotics (need Yakuza) or Cigarettes (purchase with fake ID).
Follow Kaguya to her desk and click one of the four following:
'R' for Narcotics.
'F' for Cigarettes.
'Q' for Condoms.
'E' for Alcohol.
Thursday: Poisoning Kaguya's Bento.
The player has two options to obtain a Sedative.
Buy Sleeping Medicine from the Convenience Store before school.
Lockpicking the cabinet in the Infimary. Juri Nagasawa must be distracted. There are two ways to get a lockpick.
Craft a lockpick with Hairpins found in the Drama Club and Paperclips from the Faculty Room
Purchasing a lockpick from the Yakuza for 100$.
Once the player obtains the Sedative. Go to Kaguya's desk and open her bookbag, click the "Bento" prompt, and click "Put Sedative Poison In Bento".
Friday: Sabotaging Study Notes
Follow Kaguya to Jokichi's desk and sabotage the Study Notes found on his desk.
Jokichi will now reject her when she confesses to him at the Confession Tree.
Trivia[]
Her canon elimination is being rejected by Senpai, this is done through sabotage.
Kaguya is the only rival who has been canonically able to confess to Jokichi Yudasei.
She is the only known girl to be able to do so, as even Ryoba couldn't since she was arrested before she could confess.
In YandereDev's video "Everything About 1980s Mode in Yandere Simulator", he explained that Kaguya has no special traits that make her more difficult to eliminate. In his words, she's an opportunity for the player to test out the mechanics they have learned in the tutorial.[17]
The "Kagu" part of her name, means brilliance (輝). While "Ya" means night (夜).
Her surname, Wakaizumi, means "young" (waka, 若) and "fountain" (Izumi, 泉).
She is the only 1980s rival who is a classmate with Ryoba, similar to Osana Najimi being a rival and classmate with Ayano Aishi from 202X Mode.
Kaguya and Moeko were the only two rivals present on orientation day.[19][20]
In the 1980s Mode, there is a male student in the Newspaper Club and a female student in the Art Club who share the same first names with Kaguya's brother (Kagemori) and sister (Kaho) respectively.
Additionally, in Story Mode, there is a teacher who also shares her first name with her sister (Kaho Kanokogi)
YandereDev confirms that Kagemori Takagi and Kaho Miki are not related to Kaguya.[21]
According to her diary, Kaguya accidentally killed her best friend's pet when she was younger by feeding it some food it couldn't digest. Her friend forgave her, but she never stopped hating herself for it.
She adopted a cat sometime after the events of 1980s Mode.[10][11]
If someone gives Kaguya a flower, she would think it was very sweet and would want to talk to and learn more about the guy who gave her the flower.[22]
Out of all of the 1980s rivals and their intelligence, Kaguya is ranked in 6th place.[24]
Kaguya was unaware that Ryoba Aishi was sabotaging her interactions.[25]
If Kaguya and Ai Doruyashi spoke to each other, their conversation would be friendly, cherry and bubbly.[26]
If she joined a club, she would join the Gardening Club. If she decided to make her own, she would base the club about animal research.[3]
She would love to keep in contact with other people that graduated from Akademi. But she learnt from experience that nobody likes a forced relationship, so she did not keep contact with anybody else, unless they did themselves.[3]
This is also similar to if she wanted to befriend the rivals. She wouldn't go her way to make friends with them, since she doesn't want to make it awkward or get rejected.[3]
There are some girls who I really want to be friends with...but they're a very tight-knit group, and they're kind of picky about who's allowed to join their friend circle. I noticed that they all wear socks that match their hair color. It's so cute! I've been thinking... maybe if I also wear socks that match my hair...they'll start to see me as part of their group! Haha, I know, I know...I probably sound silly right now. I know that socks don't magically turn people into your friends. But with THESE girls...I think it would actually make a difference!

Oh...gosh, I wasn't ready to talk about this with anyone, but...yeah...there is something I need help with... There's an abandoned insane asylum just outside of town. It's rumored to be haunted by ghosts. My friends dared me to spend a night there as a test of courage. Last weekend, I accepted the dare and went to the asylum at night. I started exploring all of the rooms, looking for a good place to sleep. But, just when I thought I found the perfect room...suddenly, a man with a knife appeared! He shut the door behind him, trapping me in the room with him...and then, he...he told me to take my clothes off! I was terrified, so I did what he told me to do. He didn't touch me, but...he had a camera with him...and...he took a bunch of pictures of me... He had a duffle bag with him. At one point, I saw what was inside...a bunch of camera equipment, along with dozens of photographs of other girls. He must be camping out in that asylum every night, waiting for girls to show up to do a test of courage, so that he can corner them and take pictures of them... It wouldn't surprise me if he was the one who started the rumor about the asylum being haunted, just to trick teenage girls into walking into an abandoned building alone... Eventually, I saw an opportunity to escape, so I grabbed my clothes and ran away. I got away safely, but...I can't sleep at night knowing that he still has those photos of me! I don't want anyone to see those pictures of me! Not even the cops! I'd die of embarrassment if those photos were submitted as evidence in a court case! I want to go back to that asylum and burn that evil photographer's bag to ashes! But...recently, that place became really dangerous... A bunch of homeless people and drug addicts are staying there now. I'm afraid of what would happen if I went back there... Are you sure?! You could get hurt! That place is really dangerous! If you could burn those photos, I'd be in your debt forever...but I don't want you to put yourself at risk...
