Gema Taku (real name: Gema Takagaki) is one of the male students currently attending Akademi. He is the president and founder of the Gaming Club.
Appearance[]
Gema has short, spiky, dark navy blue hair with a low ponytail resting on his left shoulder. He has navy blue eyes.
If his task is completed, the next day, he will change to a drastically different appearance: his hair will be in a smoother low ponytail, his posture will be straightened when standing/playing video games, he will be clean-shaven, the bandana will be gone, and his glasses will be different.
He wears the default school uniform with a pair of chunky black headphones, circular black glasses, and a red bandana unless customized by the player. He is almost always seen holding his phone sideways to game on it. As the president of the Gaming Club, he wears the "Red Armband of Leadership" with a resemblance to a gaming controller on his left arm. If the Gaming Club is disbanded, he will remove the red bandana and armband for the rest of the game.
Personality[]
When he's not playing video games, talking about video games, writing about video games, reading about video games, trying to develop video games, listening to video game soundtracks, or watching video game streams, then he's probably miserable and wishing that he was playing a video game instead of whatever he's doing. A portable gaming system is almost always in his hands, and he has been caught playing games in class numerous times.
He is completely unable to relate to other people who don't play video games, and has zero interest in conversing about any other topic. His strong desire to find like-minded individuals was what led him to form the Gaming Club. His club application was denied by the school, but he still operates an unofficial club in a spare room, anyway. The faculty doesn't ask him to stop, since he's not hurting anyone, but he isn't granted any of the privileges that are enjoyed by other clubs. With that said, the students of the school acknowledge his club as a "real club", even if the school faculty does not.
Aside from his passion for gaming, he is also known for being very difficult to get along with. He becomes irritated very easily, is a very sore loser when playing competitive games, and generally has a very poor attitude. His antisocial nature has caused him to experience a lot of teasing and bullying, so he prefers to remain in his makeshift clubroom during most hours of the day. The few people who have managed to become friends with him have observed that he secretly has a very strong desire for the approval of other
Leader of the Gaming Club. Completely obsessed with anime and video games, and has no other interests or hobbies. Has a somewhat abrasive personality; very few students at school can tolerate him.

Among the Personas currently implemented in the game, Gema is a Loner. If he sees a corpse or witnesses a murder, he will run home and call the police. He cannot participate in physical fights against murderers. He will hide his face if Ayano Aishi aims her phone at him.
According to the Death Demon ritual, he can be angered quickly and is often rude.
Despite all of these personality flaws of Gema, he is described by YandereDev as "a huge nerd" and would be good at "nerdy" things. Such as studying and attaining knowledge.[2] Which is why he is ranked as one of the top 5 students in his homeroom.[3]
Gema knows that he is a bad club leader and feels insecure about it. He would feel hurt and desperately ask for advice on how to improve without hurting his pride.[4]
Besides Musume and the bullies, he also has some sort of crush on various anime characters, a new one every week, exactly.[5]
Between anime and games, he prefers games.[5]
His favorite color is black, and his favorite food is whatever he can stuff into his face as quickly as possible so he can get back to playing video games.[5]
According to his hypothetical dialogue if he were given a flower, he is allergic to them.[6]
If the Gaming Club did not exist, Gema would either be alone or join the Photography Club to read manga and slack off in secret.[7]
He would be an indie game developer after graduation.[8]
Background[]
Gema is upper-middle class, but not extremely wealthy.[9] Gema's request for the creation of the gaming club was denied, so he created it himself. He moved a bunch of things into the Sociology Classroom without the permission of his school. But they have not yet done anything (yet) to stop him, since the room wasn't going to be used anytime this year.[10] Gema established the Gaming Club one year before the events of the game.[11] Gema bought the equipment for the Gaming Club and brought it to school.[12]
Gema originally asked his club members to wear a red bandana around their foreheads, to which Ryuto Ippongo agreed, but the girls thought it was stupid and incorporated the bandana into their outfits.[13]
Up until he cleans himself up, he is considered one of the least attractive students at Akademi.[14] His grades are actually good.[15]
Routine[]
At 7:00 AM, Gema enters the school grounds. He walks to his locker at 7:05 AM and changes from his outdoor shoes to his indoor shoes. At 7:15 AM, he walks to the Gaming Club on the second floor and plays games.
At 8:00 AM, he walks to Classroom 3-2, sits at his desk, and plays on his phone. He starts his morning classes at 8:30 AM and leaves to go back to the Gaming Club at 1:00 PM. However, in Mission Mode, at Lunchtime, he will eat his bento outside of the Gaming Club, making it easier to poison him.
He walks back to class again at 1:30 PM and participates in cleaning time between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM. Afterwards, he heads to the Gaming Club and stays there until the end of the day.
If the Gaming Club is disbanded, he will play a handheld game alone outside of the clubroom.

Relationships[]
- Family: Gema's parents are disappointed in him.[16] They believe their son is going through a rebellious phase where he is grumpy. Additionally, they are happy that Gema has a hobby he is passionate about, creating a "little club" at school and making friends.[17] They'll feel a bit less disappointed in him after he improves his appearance.[18] Dev doesn't think Gema has any siblings.[19]
- Itachi Zametora: Both Itachi and Gema are stubborn and grumpy young men. However, if they argued, Gema would be easily intimidated by Itachi's large stature and physique, making him give up and stop arguing sooner than Itachi.[20]
- Bullies: He probably won't like them anymore after he learns their true nature. If he got bullied, he would become extremely resentful of his bullies and might try to get "revenge" on them somehow.[21] Out of all the Bullies, he will likely end up with Kashiko Murasaki if they both develop into better people. [22]
- Musume Ronshaku: He has a crush on Musume, but he wouldn't fight an armed murderer over Musume.[23]
- Gaming Club: The members think Gema is mean/rude/grumpy, but they have to put up with him to be part of the club (and also to get further in the MMO they play).[24]

- YandereDev decided not to include his silhouette in the "Osana Progress Report and Mission Mode Update" video, as he looked as if he were holding something other than a gaming device.[25]
- Gema's nickname literally means "Gaming Otaku" or "Game Otaku" in Japanese, Gema being "Gamer," and "Taku" being a play on words for "Otaku", an insult in Japan for a geek.
- Gema was implemented in the August 18th, 2018 Build.
- If the player removes his glasses by using Pose Mode or completes his task before the September 3rd, 2018 Build, the player can see that he has red eyes. After that build, they are the same color as his hair.
- He is the only member in the Gaming Club who has the Loner persona, while the others have the Phone Addict persona.
- He, alongside Shin Higaku, Geiju Tsuka, Borupen Saishiki, and Himari Fujita have different personas from their club members.
