Near Mode is an Easter Egg Mode in Yandere Simulator.
Appearance[]
Near Mode is a reference to NieR: Automata sci-fi game. To activate this mode, one has to press F8 in the Easter Egg menu. It can't be deactivated unless the game was reset or the day ended.
When this mode is activated, Ayano is dressed with a custom stylish clothing, resembling the game's protagonist: YoRHa No.2 Type B, known more commonly as "2B". She wears a black face wrap (android goggles) around her eyes in combination to a black top with the Saikou Corp symbol engraved, transparent skirt, stockings along with black and white gloves.
Pressing Left Control causes Ayano to shoot tennis balls freely, causing electrocution to its targets. F and R are used to attack students with the swords floating behind Ayano's back, each has a combo of 3 attacks, being F for light attacks with the short sword and R for heavy attacks with the greatsword. Ayano moves very quickly around school when this mode is activated.
Trivia[]
- This mode was first implemented in the March 15th, 2019 Build. It did not gain any functionality until the August 15th, 2019 Build.
- This mode was hidden and did not appear on the Easter Egg menu when first implemented.
- The Easter Egg was purely cosmetical before gaining functionality.
- "Near" is a popular joke used in the game's community because of how phonetically similar it is to "NieR". Some fans even called the game as "NeaR: A Tomato".
