Buckets are key tools used for cleaning up blood and soaking students, as well as crushing them.
Gameplay and appearance[]
Buckets are located around Akademi, in the bathrooms, in the Gardening Club, in the Home Ec Room, and at the Pool. They are all blue, oval-shaped, and highlighted cyan in Yandere Vision.
Ayano Aishi can only carry one bucket at a time.
Gameplay[]
During cleaning time, students will not see the bucket as suspicious. However, if it is any other time of day, Ayano will lose 10 reputation points if spotted carrying a bucket by a student. If Ayano is spotted by Senpai, he will think she is doing something suspicious, and she will be heartbroken. If a teacher or Student Council member sees her, she will be sent to the Counselor's Office to explain her actions.
Homicide[]

When murdering an NPC with a weapon, the victim will bleed, creating a puddle of blood when they fall to the ground. Ayano must use a bucket, mop, and bleach to clean up all the bloodstains to avoid a decrease in atmosphere. The more blood that is mopped up and dipped into a bucket, the bloodier the water in the bucket will get. If the water becomes bloody, it will have to be refilled to continue mopping.
Soaking Students[]
If Ayano fills a bucket with liquid and puts it over a door, any students that walk through it will get soaked, run to their corresponding Locker Room, change into their gym uniform, and proceed with their normal routine.
The player is not able to soak Senpai, Teachers, Student Council members, and Raibaru Fumetsu. This is because they always dodge the buckets as they fall. In Mission Mode, if the player chooses to fire one of the Student Council members using Info-Chan's service menu, the player will be able to set a bucket trap and splash any liquid on the former Student Council member.
The first time a student gets soaked, they will change into their gym uniform. After that, that student will always dodge the bucket. This means that every student can only be soaked once a day.
Framing[]

In the future, the police may think that a rival killed someone if they have bloody clothing in their locker after changing.[1]
Wood Chipper[]
- Main Article: Wood Chipper
Ayano can use the wood chipper in the garden to dispose of corpses. In order to do this, the player must place an empty bucket underneath the machine's spout. The machine will not work if there's no bucket to catch the blood. Once a corpse is placed inside the machine, the player can activate it, grinding the corpse into a liquid and filling the bucket with blood.
Burning[]

Ayano can fill a bucket with gasoline using the Jerry can in the Gardening Club's shed. She can use this bucket to splash a student with gasoline, which will cause them to run to the locker room and change their clothes. If the student makes contact with a candle while doused with gasoline, they will catch on fire and burn to death.
If Osana Najimi and Raibaru Fumetsu are walking towards a door with a gasoline-filled bucket over it, Raibaru will smell the gasoline and warn Osana. Unless Osana is alone, the player will not be able to splash her with gasoline.
Brown paint[]
If the player fills a bucket with water, they can use the brown paint from the Art Club to make the water look like mud. This is because normal students wouldn't go through the trouble of changing their clothes if they were splashed with plain water. They would have to believe that they were covered in something gross in order to take a shower and change.
Crushing[]

If Ayano puts five dumbbells into a bucket, and she has made it to at least Rank 1 in her Physical Education stat, she can drop it off the rooftop to crush a student. The victim needs to be given a note to make them stand in the right spot, which would be behind the school or near the outdoor cafeteria. As of the July 6th, 2023 Build, it has been replaced with an air conditioner.
Bugs[]
- Ayano can raise suspicion when she has a bucket or a mop when is not cleaning time which supposed to work only for students, but when a teacher notices it, teacher plans to send Ayano to the counselor without saying a line, the counselor says It should be obvious why you're here line and repeats it twice, when a player chooses an option (or not at all) she keeps silent and soft locks the game.[2][3]
Trivia[]
- At high atmosphere, students will ignore a bloody bucket. Once the atmosphere drops to 66 %, it will be reputation damaging. Under 34 %, it might become incriminating and alarming. This is an upcoming feature and for now everyone just ignores a blood bucket[4]
- Before the June 16th, 2015 Build, water could not get bloody.
- The water will turn into blood if the player presses the B key while holding a bucket that is filled with water. This will affect all buckets filled with water anywhere on school grounds, this is no longer possible in demo builds unless debug commands are unlocked
- As of the August 26th, 2015 Build, if a female student sees a corpse while she is wet with water, she will not dry herself and will flee the school. If she is bloody and sees a corpse, she will quickly wash off and then flee.

- A bloody student will not react if they see Ayano taking photos of them, because they would expect that sort of thing to happen to anyone seen covered in blood. This technique can be used to frame people in future builds.[5]
- The water in the bucket used to be clear and reflective.
- There was originally a bucket at the front of the school, but in the March 2nd, 2016 Build, the bucket, mop, and sink there have been removed.
- Originally, before the February 15th, 2019 build, you could trip over to get students wet (but the only student that you could get wet was Kokona). Since YandereDev determine that the ability to trip is too overpowered, he decides to remove the ability to trip after all students were able to get wet.
- As of the March 13th build, the player is able to spill any liquid from the bucket in front of them.
- However, as of the April 5th 2024 Build, spilling a bucket will result in a trail of the liquid. You can still create a puddle, but you have to stand still in order for the puddle to work.
- As of the May 24th 2022 Build, students no longer react negatively of being splashed while they are wearing a swimsuit.
- As of the September 15th 2022 Build, setting up a Bucket trap will now be counted as suspicious.
- As of the September 15th 2022 Build, any student who witnesses the player create a “bucket over doorway” trap or a “watercooler tripwire” trap will now dismantle the trap if they walk through the door/string.
