Interactions are the way Ayano or Ryoba can converse with students in order to complete tasks, improve reputation, harm reputation, and command others in Yandere Simulator.

There are six ways of interacting with students. These interactions include: Apologize, Socialize, Gossip, Tasks, Ask Favor, and Bye.

Apologize[]

I spilled red paint on myself! I'm going to go clean it off now.

— Apologizing for being covered in blood.
I found something dangerous, so I was taking it to a teacher.

— Apologizing for being visibly armed.
It's a misunderstanding! I was taking a picture of something else, I swear!

— Apologizing for being visibly lewd.
I'm so sorry for how I behaved earlier. I don't know what came over me.

— Apologizing for being visibly insane or laughing insanely.
Don't worry. I was just filming a prank video for the Internet.

— (202x Mode) Apologizing for being covered in blood while holding a weapon.
It's not what it looks like! It's a costume and prop for an upcoming play.

— (1980s mode) Apologizing for being covered in blood while holding a weapon.
I'm very sorry...It was an accident...can you forgive me?

— Apologizing after "accidentally" splashing a student with water.
I swear I wasn't eavesdropping! I was just passing by!

— Apologizing after being noticed eavesdropping on a private conversation.
Someone misplaced this, so I was putting it back where it belongs.

— Apologizing after being noticed for carrying a pool closed sign, water cooler, candle, car battery, or a 50-kg weight.
Oops! I got lost and wandered over there on accident...

— Apologizing after being noticed for trespassing.

If an NPC notices the protagonist acting suspiciously — such as carrying around a weapon or taking a panty shot — she can apologize to them to regain 50% of the reputation damage taken.

Wearing the Kawaii Moe Shimapan regains 75% reputation damage taken.

Socialize[]

Yeah. Me too.

— Choosing the correct topics while Ayano has the low reputation.
Oh, really? I feel the same way!

— Choosing the correct topics while Ayano has the average reputation.
Wow! We have so much in common!

— Choosing the correct topics while Ayano has the high reputation.

Socializing with an NPC will increase the protagonist's reputation by one point per interaction, being 5 points in total (if there are no buffs). Each student can only be socialized with once per day; students will think she is just pretending to be nice if they say something nice more than once.[1]

Friendship Bar[]

The Friendship Bar is the opinion a specific student has of you. When an interaction is successful, the player will get "Friendship points" that lead to the bar to increase. To befriend a student, the protagonist needs to have 50 friendship points with them, when doing so, the Friendship bar will show that their relationship went from "acquaintance" to "friend".

If the protagonist does a task for a student, the Friendship Bar will increase by 50 points, automatically befriending them with the exception being some rivals.

Active Bonuses[]

There are factors that affect the development of the interactions, increasing the amount of reputation points and friendship points earned when they are a success. These appear at the top left of the screen and are divided by: Panty Bonus, Social Bonus, Persona Bonus, Seduction Bonus, and Psychology Bonus.

Panty Bonus[]

Wearing the Sweet Strawberry Panties boosts the number of reputation points received.

Social Bonus[]

If whether or not the player has increased their social stat at the Gaming Club,

Persona Bonus[]

Depends on which persona the protagonist is using (It can be changed using any mirror).

Seduction Bonus[]

How high is the seduction stat of the protagonist (It can be increased by reading manga).

Psychology Bonus[]

How high is the psychology stat of the protagonist (It can be increased by attending class).

When socializing with a student, the player has 5 options to talk about with them:

Negative remark[]

When choosing this option, the game will display 25 different topics in which, based on the student's preferences, the player has to say something negative about a topic the student dislikes. NPCs have a different reaction to what the player says depending on how they feel about the topic. When successfully choosing a topic the NPC dislikes, the reputation and friendship bar will increase by one point each. When choosing a topic the student likes or is indifferent about, the reputation will decrease by one point, however, the friendship bar is not affected by it.

The player can choose to give a negative remark about any topic displayed, and the NPC will react differently depending on how much reputation the protagonist has.

Compliment[]

When choosing this option, the game will display 18 different compliments. The player needs to choose which compliment the student is going to appreciate more. The correct compliment depends on the student's persona:

  1. Coward: You're cautious!
  2. Fragile: You're a victim!
  3. Heroic: You're heroic!
  4. Loner: You're self-reliant!
  5. Lovestruck: You're loving!
  6. Phone Addict: You're informed!
  7. Protective: You're protective!
  8. Social Butterfly: You're friendly!
  9. Sleuth: You're observant!
  10. Snitch: You're talkative!
  11. Spiteful: You're sinister!
  12. Strict: You're professional!
  13. Teacher's Pet: You're smart!
  14. Violent: You're intimidating!

There is no reputation or friendship points penalty for choosing the wrong compliment.

It's possible to compliment the delinquents, however, this action doesn't affect the reputation of the player.

Show off[]

When choosing this option, the player will be able to discuss with a student a school subject (Biology, Chemistry, Language, Physical Education, or Psychology). Depending on the rank in the school subject the protagonist has, the amount of friendship points will increase. There is no reputation or friendship points penalty if the player hasn't leveled up the discussed subject.

Give $5.00[]

When choosing this option, the protagonist will give the student $5.00. This is the safest option to increase the reputation and friendship bar, due to the fact that there is no way to fail this interaction.

If the protagonist has less that $5.00 this option will not be available.

Gossip[]

Main Article: Gossip
Ugh, I can't get along with people like that...

— Choosing the correct topics while gossiping.

Gossip is used to spread rumors about a rival or student, which will damage their reputation, but by doing this, the player's reputation will also decrease, unless the student that the player is gossiping to is a bully. The protagonist is not able to gossip with anyone if she has a low reputation. As with socializing, she can only share gossip with a student once per day.

In order to gossip successfully, the player must know what the student that will hear the gossip likes and dislikes. Then, the protagonist must tell that student that the student gossiped about likes something they dislike, or vice versa. In the case of a rival, the protagonist must know their embarrassing secret.

Wearing the Skimpy Sexy Panties boosts reputation damage done to targets of gossip.

The protagonist can't gossip with a student about other who is their family member, friend, club member, a suitor of the rival, or if they are in a relationship together. Kokona and Saki will refuse to believe if the protagonist gossips about their friend. Ryoba can't gossip with the Rainbow Girls or the Rainbow Boys about one of them. The Martial Arts Club would also react negatively when Ayano gossips about Raibaru.

Tasks[]

Main Article: Tasks

As of the October 8th, 2015 Build, the protagonist can help students out by performing a task for them. If the task is completed, the student will become friends with her and she will be able to ask them for Favors.

Some of the students' tasks might involve a specific character, and will be unavailable under certain circumstances (Such as students who are absent in school or the clubs that were disbanded). However, some students (e.g. Budo Masuta) will refuse to give their task at the start of the game, unless Ayano has befriended all of the Martial Arts Club members, and then he will trust her.

Ask Favor[]

Not to be confused with Info Chan's favors.
Sorry, I can't help you now. It's time for class.

— Students responding to Ayano's request for a favor if their class starts in less than half an hour.

The protagonist has to be friends with a student or have a high Seduction Level to ask them for Student Favors. Students are not willing to perform favors for her if their next class begins in less than half an hour. When the school atmosphere is 50% or lower, students will refuse to do favors, which means they will not follow her, distract someone else, or go away. Rivals will refuse to do favors at lunchtime.

In the future, it will only be possible to ask each student for a Student Favor once per day. However, this is a low priority.[2]

"Follow Me" has been in the game since the early days of the game. "Distract" and "Go Away" were added in the October 8th, 2015 Build.

Follow Me[]

Hey, follow me! I want to show you something cool!

— Asking a student to follow Ayano.

In early builds, Ayano could ask any student other than Senpai to follow them. In a later build, she could only ask when they had a high enough reputation. On October 8, 2015, Build and the November 1st, 2015 Build, "Follow Me" can be achieved through Student Favors, just like "Distract" and "Go Away".

  • When a student is following the player, they will have a timer on top of their head, when the time is out, they will stop following them.
  • Depending on their reputation, the time will be different: Low reputation will make 15 seconds for the students to follow her, average reputation will make 30 seconds for the students to follow her, and having high reputation will make 60 seconds for the students to follow her.
  • As of the June 4th, 2023 Build, a student will follow the protagonist for 140 seconds.
  • If the player stands perfectly still and doesn't move, the student will start getting bored fast, decreasing the timer faster.
  • This option can be used to kidnap a student or to murder someone without any witnesses.
  • When a student is inside of the gym storage room, the “remaining patience” countdown timer circle above their head will deplete at 10% normal speed. They will not follow if one student is already doing so.
  • Ayano or Ryoba can't ask a Rival to follow them at lunchtime.

Distract[]

Please go ask this person if they have a crush on anyone. Text me their answer later.

— Asking a student to distract someone.

As of the October 8th, 2015 Build, the protagonist can ask a student to distract someone (selected in Student Info) for ten seconds. Only someone whose picture has already been sent to Info-chan can be chosen. The protagonist will not able to send students to distract Info-chan, a deceased student, a mind-broken student, an unconscious/kidnapped student, Teachers, Gema Taku (Unless he is befriended with Ayano), The Delinquents, Shinako Bunzai, a student that is in an event, or themselves. They can't send a Rival to distract another student at lunchtime.

Go Away[]

I have some private business to attend to here. Would you mind giving me some space?

— Asking a student to vacate the area.

As of the October 8th, 2015 Build, Ayano could ask a student to move to the Hedge Maze.

In the February 2nd, 2016 Build, it is only possible to tell a student to go away if they have actually reached some destination that they intend to occupy for some time. They will go away for a maximum of 60 seconds and go to the hedge maze (Osana Najimi will go to the cherry tree hills). Rivals will refuse to leave at lunchtime.

Bye[]

Sorry, never mind!

— Exiting out of a conversation.
Nice talking to you!

— Exiting out of a conversation after having an interaction.

Allows Ayano to exit the conversation with or without interacting with the student.

Time Indicator[]

Uh, are you just going to stand there?

— A student's response to the player taking too long to select an interaction.
I'm sorry, I've to go now...

— A student's response if a conversation ends without Ayano saying anything.
This is getting kind of annoying...

— A student's response if a conversation ends without Ayano saying anything a second time.
Please stop bothering me...

— A student's response if a conversation ends without Ayano saying anything a third time.
Please./Stop./That's enough./Cut it out.

— A student refusing to talk to Ayano due to annoyance.

Upon starting a conversation, a time indicator will appear, showing how much time is left before the student's patience runs out. If no interaction is chosen before the indicator hits half-way, the student will wait a few seconds before finally exiting the conversation.

If the protagonist continues to talk to a student without saying anything, they will eventually refuse to talk to her. However, the protagonist can talk to them again after class ends during lunchtime.

Witnesses[]

Don't talk to me! I know you killed someone. I'll make sure everyone knows what you've done.

— A Social Butterfly, Loner, Teacher's Pet, Fragile or Spiteful student after the player chooses to talk to them the next day.
Don't worry...your secret is safe with me. But, we shouldn't be seen talking to each other....

— A Spiteful student the next day after witnessing Ayano kill someone they do not like.
I haven't told anyone what I saw...please...just leave me alone...

— A coward after the player chooses to talk to them the next day.
Don't bother me!/Go away!/Don't talk to me!/Get away from me!/Leave me alone!

— Trying to talk to a witness again

If a student has seen the protagonist commit murder, they will refuse to speak to her the next day. Students will explain why they refuse to speak to her according to their persona. Trying to interact with them will only get a response of "Go away!", "Don't talk to me!", or "Leave me alone!" from then on.

Guidance Counselor Interactions[]

Main Article: Genka Kunahito

The protagonist cannot interact with the guidance counselor like a normal NPC, but she can report things about a rival to her in order to get the rival expelled. Genka will always thank her and continue working. The options are normally light pink, but they will turn white when an option is available.

Removed Interactions[]

Two removed interactions were "Threaten" and "Seduce". The latter was added back in with the November 1st, 2015 Build, but is not an option on the Interaction wheel. Instead, the Seduction Level influences Ayano's actions with students.

According to one of YandereDev's older blog posts, "Threaten" was a way to make NPCs to leave the area, but would harm Ayano's reputation.[3] As of now, this interaction is now replaced into "Intimidation". The player will unlock this by meeting the criteria to join the delinquents and intimidate them to do the favors.

Trivia[]

  • If a student is asked to follow while teleporting to the Demon Dimension, the student will stand in place until the player returns.
  • It's impossible to interact with students when in Bad Time Mode because instead of talking, the player will use psychokinesis on the student.
  • Any student who gets near Ayano in Ebola Mode will instantly die, so she cannot interact in this mode either.
  • The protagonist cannot interact with a student while wearing a mask.
  • Multiple students cannot follow the protagonist at once because the tranquilizer box needs to detect the gender of the protagonist's follower. If there are multiple followers, the tranquilizer box cannot detect gender.[4]
  • In the future, the protagonist's reputation will not decrease if she interacts with a student with a low reputation.[5]
  • As of the July 2nd 2022 Build, students will refuse to do favors for you while wearing a swimsuit.
  • As of the August 15th 2022 Build, rivals will refuse to follow the player during lunchtime since it's way too easy to kill them by waiting until lunchtime and asking her to follow you.
  • As of the October 24th, 2022 Build, if the player starts using the pass time feature while being followed by a student, the student will complain about the player spacing out and then leave.
  • As of the May 15th, 2022 Build, rivals will refuse to distract another student for the player during lunchtime since it's way too easy to kill them.
  • Kuu Dere and Midori Gurin are the only students that only need 25 Friendship Points in order to befriend them.
