Daigo is the father of an unknown female student who currently attends Akademi.

Appearance[]

In 202X, Daigo is a bald man with a shiny scalp and short, dark purple black hair on the sides and back. His face is round with full cheeks, a furrowed brow, and narrowed eyes with heavy lids. He has thick, arched eyebrows and a goatee beard covering his lower lip and chin. His body is stocky and muscular. He wears a white tank top that appears stained and tight-fitting, along with loose gray boxer shorts. His legs and feet are bare, and his cheeks are flushed.

In 2007, Daigo had dark purple, wavy hair grown to nape length. Stray strands framed his face. His facial features included high cheekbones and a neatly trimmed dark goatee. His body was lean and athletic. He wore a black suit with a white dress shirt, a slim black tie, and polished black dress shoes.

Personality[]

Daigo was born to a kind mother and a devoted father who went to great lengths to provide him with a comfortable life. Unfortunately, he did not appreciate the warm and loving home that his parents tried to provide him with; he felt suffocated by his doting mother and his father's persistent attempts to bond with him. Perhaps because they tried so hard to be part of his life, he wanted nothing to do with them; he grew up to be a rebellious young man who defied authority figures at every opportunity, and by the time he reached his teenage years, he was a juvenile delinquent.

In a twist of fate, Daigo had a highly specific experience in his teenage years that mirrored his father's life almost perfectly: in high school, he fell in love with a beautiful young woman who motivated him to abandon the delinquent lifestyle and take life more seriously so that he could start a family with her. It was an eerie coincidence - but it did not bring him closer to his dad. On the contrary, he hated his own father so much that, when he married his high school sweetheart, he took her last name, just to have one less connection to his parents.

A series of tragedies struck in rapid succession. Just as he was beginning to realize how ungrateful of a son he had been, his mother died, forever robbing him of the opportunity to establish a meaningful bond with her. One year later, just as Daigo had nearly gathered up the courage to reach out to his estranged father and attempt to repair their damaged relationship, his father died at his workplace, leaving Daigo's carefully rehearsed apologies forever left unsaid.

But, the worst event of his life came at the moment that was supposed to be the happiest: his wife died almost immediately after giving birth due to severe and unexpected medical complications. This was what truly broke him; after such an experience, he would have simply taken his own life, if not for one thing: before she died, his wife's final words to him were, "Take care of our daughter." Despite how badly he wanted to die, Daigo forced himself to stay alive to honor his wife's dying wish.

However, no matter how hard he tried, he was incapable of loving his daughter. Whenever he looked at her, he could only have one thought: "You killed her. She's dead because of you." Instead of perceiving his daughter as "the only piece of my wife that still exists in this world," he could only see a giant gaping void where his wife was supposed to be.

Daigo's father had worked in a high-risk occupation, and had prepared a will before his death. Despite their stained relationship, Daigo's father still wanted to leave his earthly possessions to his son - and, because he had been extremely well-paid by his employers, this meant that Daigo inherited a substantial sum of money. He used his father's fortune to distract himself from his regrets and his sorrow, and spent his days enjoying expensive hobbies and eating lavishly.

With such wealth, Daigo became addicted to a life of excess, and saw no reason to pursue employment. However, 10 years after the birth of his daughter, his father's money finally ran out. Because of his laziness, his lack of work experience, and his extremely negative attitude, it was very difficult for him to find gainful employment; he was only ever able to find part-time jobs that paid very little money - and what money he did earn, he quickly spent on alcohol. As a result, a man who once lived like a king fell into poverty.

But, whether he was rich or poor, one aspect of his life remained constant - the presence of his daughter. No matter how many years passed, he still felt consumed with pain and disgust whenever he looked at her. When he became angry or frustrated, he would often take it out on her. "Remember - you killed your mother! You've been a disgrace since the moment you were born!" His abuse was not only verbal, but physical, too; he struck her numerous times throughout her childhood, once slashing her across the face twice with a broken beer bottle, resulting in a permanent scar.

Other children would often mock her for constantly being covered in bandages and bruises, which made it difficult for her to make friends. This led to bullying, which led to fights, which gradually turned her into a person more experienced in fisticuffs than socializing. She developed into a girl who rarely spoke, stayed away from others, and strived to be as intimidating and imposing as possible to prevent anyone from seeing her as an easy target.

Because of these traits, she often got into trouble at school, which only gave her father more reasons to yell at her. She heard the same words from him countless times - "useless," "worthless," - she was frequently told that she had no value, and that her life would never amount to anything.

These words hurt her deeply - but, over time, that pain transformed into something else - motivation. A desire to prove her father wrong. A desire to make something of herself; to become so successful that her father would have no choice but to look at her and realize that, against all odds, she had become someone successful; respectable; someone who he simply could not insult. "I'll become stronger than him. I'll graduate from a better school than him. And unlike him, I won't inherit money - I'll earn it through hard work."

The moment that she reached the legal working age - 15 - she immediately began to work two part-time jobs. When she wasn't working, she was either studying or developing her muscles - one would make it easier to get into the school she was aiming for, and the other would make it harder for her father to raise a hand against her.

Finally, the day came; after two years of toil, she had finally saved up enough money to afford the tuition fee for the prestigious school that her grandfather had once attended. Confident that she had studied hard enough, she stepped through the gates of Akademi, and began the notoriously difficult entrance exam, determined to prove that she belonged there.
