Budo Masuta (real name: Budo Masuyama) is one of the male students who currently attends Akademi. He is the president of the Martial Arts Club.
Appearance[]
Current[]
Budo has messy, feathered, dark gray hair that fans around his head. His hair model was the same as Haruto Yuto's, but flipped horizontally and re-colored. His eyes are dark gray.
He wears the default school uniform with a white headband with the kanji "必" and "勝", which, when combined, means "victory", on it unless customized by the player. Since he is the president of the Martial Arts Club, he wears the "Red Armband of Leadership" with a resemblance to a yin-and-yang symbol on his left arm. When in the Martial Arts Club, he dons a traditional karate gi. If the club disbands, he will not wear the headband and the "Red Armband of Leadership" anymore. He wears traditional Japanese underwear. [3]
In his official art, he has a muscular figure, slightly showing off his well-defined chest through his karate gi. YandereDev currently imagines his height as 5'7" (170 cm) and his weight as 185 lbs (83.91 kg), of which 35 lbs (15.88 kg) is muscle.[4]

Personality[]
Budo is a popular figure in Akademi Academy, known for his friendly and approachable attitude, his powerful physique, and his undeniable skill at martial arts. Ever since he became the leader of the Martial Arts Club, he has maintained a 100% winning streak and is considered to be the strongest student at school.
Budo became the leader of the Martial Arts Club after defeating the club's previous leader, who resigned after being beaten by her own pupil. There are rumors that the reason why Budo dedicated himself to martial arts is because he developed powerful romantic feelings for the club's previous leader, and desperately wanted to impress her. Budo always changes the subject when asked about this topic, neither confirming nor denying the rumors.
Budo very rarely speaks ill of others but has been known to express a strong distaste for bullies and delinquents. He is quick to rush to the aid of anyone that is being harassed by other students, making it clear that 'If you pick a fight with them, you're picking a fight with me, too!'

Among the personas that are currently implemented in the game, Budo is Heroic. If he sees a corpse, he will act upon the Teacher's Pet persona. If he witnesses Ayano Aishi commit murder, he will run to fight her. He is a martial arts master, so he fights with enormous and powerful strength, which is a quick game over when Ayano has Physical Education in Rank 0 or not a member of the Martial Arts Club. He will give Ayano a suspicious look before crossing his arms if she aims her phone at him.
He considers Raibaru and Bruce Lee to be his idols.[5] He is disinterested in fighting machines, believing they would not possess the same fighting passion as a human.[6] He enjoys protein shakes, mostly because they provide the protein necessary to support muscle growth, and avoids unhealthy/junk food, as he thinks less about taste and more about health benefits.[7]
Rather than the "Occult", Budo enjoys the supernatural as a topic itself, as he finds it fascinating. He believes that martial arts is the "key" to unlocking supernatural powers in the human body.[8]
Because of Budo's friendly personality, being able to make friends with anyone,[9] he would have no problem becoming friends with Fureddo Jonzu after talking to him for five minutes.[10] He does not judge people based on their physical appearance [8] and is even known for not being cruel to anyone since his adolescence. As a result, nobody holds a grudge against him.[11]
If someone told Budo he was a bad club leader, he would be too "chill" to give a negative reaction. He knows that some people are cruel and bully him by telling him that he isn't a good club leader, masking it as a criticism. This is especially for a stranger who walks up to Budo and tells him this. Budo would also be curious as to whether the stranger was serious or "trolling". He would maintain civility between himself and the stranger while getting the person to say something meaningful.[12]
If Budo were given a flower, he would greatly appreciate it, but refuse it as he believes it would get destroyed due to all of the "karate-chopping and judo-throwing" he does.[13]

He has been training in martial arts almost every moment of his spare time since early childhood.[14]
He is possibly the oldest club leader.[15] Shima Shiya, Juku Ren, Sho Kunin, and Mina Rai are his apprentices.
He is one of the most popular boys in school.[16] Budo is considered one of the most attractive guys in Akademi.[17]
Routine[]

At 7:05 AM, Budo enters the school grounds. He walks to his locker at 7:10 AM and changes from his outdoor shoes to his indoor shoes. At 7:15 AM, he walks to the Martial Arts Club on the Second Floor and watches his apprentices spar. He also goes to the Zen Gardens with the rest of the Martial Arts Club members and watches them spar there as well.
At 8:00 AM, Budo walks into Classroom 3-2, sits at his desk, and plays on his phone. He starts his morning classes at 8:30 AM and leaves to go to the outside of the Martial Arts Club to eat his lunch at 1:00 PM.
Budo walks back to class again at 1:30 PM and participates in cleaning time between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM. Afterward, he heads to the Martial Arts Club and stays there until the end of the day. If the player joins in club activities, he practices kicking with the other members from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM.
If the Martial Arts Club is disbanded, he will still go to the Zen Gardens with the rest of the former members and watch them spar.

Budo has a younger sister (will likely be named Chiisana)[19] who looks up to him. She thinks he is "super cool" and wants to be like him. When Budo practices martial arts, she imitates him. Unknown Girl[]
He was romantically interested in someone during his previous school year, but it did not work out.[4] Budo's only flaw is that he is too shy to confess his feelings for the unknown girl.[21]
Mantaro Sashimasu[]

Delinquents[]

He is very wary around Osoro and the other delinquents.[22] He would also question Osoro's intentions to join the Martial Arts club. He would be overly dramatic when questioning her about her intentions to join the club. Ultimately, Budo would only let Osoro join if he knew she wasn't using martial arts for malicious intentions.[23] However, he could work fine with Osoro if they were hypothetically assigned as partners for a school project, as Osoro would diligently do her part on the assignment. Although her lack of communication could frustrate Budo, the latter wouldn't be too quick to judge her.[24]
Others[]
- Oka Ruto: Budo and Oka Ruto are not childhood friends.[8] If they were friends, and Oka was accused of murder, he would be shocked.[8] If they weren't friends, and Oka was accused of murder, Budo would try to rationalize this news with some rumors he had heard about her. He especially does not want to have these thoughts and opinions of Oka.[8]

- November 15th is also his birthday.[26]
- His real name is Budo Masuyama as of the July 1st, 2020 build.
- It is nearly impossible to defeat him if Ayano only has Level 1 strength.
- His nickname is a play on words. Budo (武道) is a Japanese term for martial arts, while masuta (マスター) is the English word "master" transcribed into katakana. Hence, budo masuta literally means "Martial Arts Master".
- On January 1st, 2016 Build, his crush was set as "?????", meaning that he had a crush on someone.[27] However, as of the February 3rd, 2019 Build, his crush has been set to "None".
- His motivational speeches during club activities are all quotes from the famous martial artist Bruce Lee.
- He makes a small cameo in the Gaming Club by appearing in the fighting game. He is shown kicking Midori Gurin in the face.
- Originally, Budo's profile called him the founder of the Martial Arts Club. This was changed in the March 28th, 2017 Build to state that he took over the club after defeating the previous president, with a teaser in the notes for the update that declared the change to be related to Osana.
- On July 15th, 2019, the video revealing Raibaru Fumetsu also revealed the meaning of this change and its relation to Osana: Raibaru, the Mysterious Obstacle, was the president that Budo defeated.
- He and Miyuji Shan are the only students who have been given ownership of their club by their former leader.
- Strength-wise, he is pretty much tied with Osoro Shidesu and Aoi Ryugoku.[28]
- He does not appear to be paranoid in Low School Atmosphere if the Martial Arts club still exists.[31]
- He, along with Oka Ruto, was one of the first club leaders implemented.

- In a situation where Budo's life is at risk, and he has to kill people in order to not die, he would be in third place in terms of being a lethal risk, followed by Raibaru Fumetsu, Osoro Shidesu, Itachi Zametora, and Daisaku Aragaki.[33]
- Budo could beat Osoro in a fight using martial arts rules, not in a street fight. In addition to this, he could beat Raibaru in a close match, and he can never beat Megami.[34]
- But YandereDev had previously said that Budo can beat Megami in a sparring match.[30]
- When his club has been shut down or there is low atmosphere, he crosses his arms. YandereDev says this is most likely a bug.[35]
