Trivia Policy Reminder: Why not all Trivia is Useful or Published

Hello.

As a wiki contributor and admin, Yandere Sim fan and just someone who likes to go into small and obscure details, I certainly do appreciate that we can ask the developer any questions directly and get a response pretty quickly; and I certainly do appreciate people sharing their insights and interesting trivia about the characters and other aspects of the game.

However, we have to talk.

Lately, a lot of post published under the "sharing trivia" category in discussions... Well, they basically share obvious answers to boring questions, if we're being straight.

Our wiki has an FAQ and Manual of Style pages, both of which have "trivia policy" section. However, I know that many of you never visit these pages, and it would be pretty naive to tell people to read them and expect they'll actually do it, so I'll repeat it here and expand it a little.

What kind of question we do not publish and highly advise against asking in the first place?

Any questions that most likely have a pretty obvious and straightforward answer, given what we know about the character so far. ESPECIALLY if the answer isn't surprising or contradicting what one would reasonably assume it to be.

An example of a boring question would be:

How would Ayano's parents react if she dies?

We already know that Ryoba adores and actively helps her daughter, and Jokichi seems to love her as well, as shown in videos about her childhood. Given this already known information, there're no reasons to assume they would react differently compared to average parents.

This "trivia" doesn't provide any new information an average person wouldn't be able to figure out on their own and doesn't offer any insights into previously unknown sides of their personality.

An example of a similar but more interesting question would be:

How would Osoro's father react if she dies?

We don't have the full picture yet, but so far, we know basically two things: he's physically abusive but at least has been caring enough for her to survive and not end up in a foster house in the first place.

Him being abusive doesn't necessarily mean that he wouldn't care about his daughter's death at all, and I hope most people here are smart enough to be able to figure out that his reaction would probably be far from happiness.

However, there's still some ambiguity about how exactly he feels about his daughter: does he truly not care about her to a certain degree (not high enough to abandon her altogether but enough to not care if she actually dies), or she is important to him, and he simply has extremely questionable parenting standards?

Other examples of boring questions and trivia include:

Average reactions to various situations; if there's no reason to assume that this particular character would react differently to a normal person - and there has to be a really good reason for that - ask AI if you have any doubts.

Minor preferences, like music, food, and so on, if they offer no insights to a character's personality. Some of them are kept for characters who don't have much trivia, but please stop adding more. This is what headcanons are for.
Birthdays - the dev will most likely not even answer such questions, and they won't be added on the wiki (with the exceptions of the rivals, whose birthdays are basically their release dates).
Past crushes of minor NPCs, often times "what club would X join if not their mane one" (it's often pretty obvious if you take a look at their interests).
Questions already answered on the wiki, even if they are not answered in a literal and explicit way.

Another important thing to keep in mind: basic etiquette!

Make the title of the email clear, ideally following this format: "A question(s) about X regarding Y". Or the question itself in the title. Not "hello", not just "a question", not anything else that doesn't make it clear what the topic of the email is.
Don't ask too many questions at once, and yes, "one" question about all rivals/some other group is not "one" but actually 5, 10 or however many characters it involves questions.
If you have any doubts, ask an AI first and then decide if the answer is worth asking or most likely gonna be the same but shorter or a suggestion to ask an AI.

If your question(s) is ignored or answered "rudely" (I've never seen any actual insults in the screenshot - only slightly annoyed at the behavior responses, and I find it immature to take annoyance with your behavior as a personal attack), please keep in mind that you're not the first and not the last person with this kind of email and certainly not the only annoyance. This problem started back at 2015, as you may know from Yandere Simulator article, and there're no fool-proof ways to filter such e-mails.

And last but not least, for everyone who's adding the trivia to the articles: please, pay attention to the text as a whole. Do not shove the trivia in the "trivia" section without examining the article first and making sure there're no other, more appropriate places to put it, and avoid making a whole new paragraph for only a few sentences. Read the actual text, see where it fits best, summarize with other information if needed and possible, make a small analysis without stepping into headcanons territory if you're feeling confident.

It's not a requirement, but it takes off the load from other contributors.

Spring recap, design refresh, 11th anniversary

The last recap feels like it just happened yesterday, but guess what? It's time for a new recap! We also used to be surrounded by the cold of winter, but now we’re welcoming the warmth of spring in an instant! It’s also the 11th anniversary of Yandere Simulator! Time goes by fast!

To start this post, let’s discuss the game and new updates written by Slimytent12! :D

So, what do we have in the game, and what’s its progress? (Simply “Game Recap”)

As you can recall, the developer originally envisioned dedicating January to meticulously refining the custom mode, paving the way for the highly anticipated Amai week. However, unexpected circumstances required a change in plans. The plans were altered partly because some crucial volunteers became available, one of whom is working on new character models. In addition, California has been grappling with frequent and extended power outages due to severe weather conditions, further complicating progress.However, since January 15th, 2025, several significant updates have been made, including:

The possibility to write the dialogue that the custom rivals will speak during their confession cutscene, the dialogue that club leaders will speak, and change the backdrop of student portraits in Custom Mode.
Two new elimination methods: Freezing and Smothering.
Switching the game from Unity 2020 to the Unity 6 engine: after the update, performance and frame rate have been improved.
New advertisements that appear throughout the school to promote Amai’s bake sale and a unique “introducing the next rival” cutscene during Amai’s week.
Chigusa and Ryoba now have new “gravure photo shoot” animations.
Identified and optimized files that were not being compressed correctly to further reduce the game archive size from 3.27 GB to 2.64 GB.

Additionally, new characters are added on the official website:

Kataba Aishi, Ryoba’s grandmother.
Sureibu Aishi, Ryoba’s father.
Ui Tunesu.

Progress on implementing improved character models

Several years ago, improved character models were created for the game. However, before implementing them in the game, they had to be optimized. For several years, the developer could not find a specialist capable of handling this task, but recently, such a person was finally found.

As of March 16th, the developer has yet not decided when exactly he is going to add them in the actual game, as he has some other things in priority; the volunteer is still available though.

Port to Android

In 2025, the developer planned to explore the possibility of porting the game to Android. After numerous trials and errors, it became clear that porting the game to a mobile device was too difficult a task and generally not the best idea.

There are several reasons for this:

To make changes to the game, every single asset must be ported, which would take at least four hours.
APK File Size: Most mobile devices have a 4GB limit, while Yandere Simulator weighs 6 GB.
Compressing files to reduce the game's size takes too much time, and it is unknown whether the game will be smaller than 4 gigabytes after this process.
Alternative methods to get the game running on Android either take too long to implement or simply don't work.

Ultimately, it was decided that the game would not be ported to mobile devices.

However, two weeks later, he reported that he had successfully exported a playable build, but he has to solve a couple of technical issues before it’s ready for release. When he does finally make a Yandere Simulator APK that is on par with the PC version, he’ll record a video of it and upload it to his Yandere Archive channel.

Thoughts on 11th Anniversary

Mind a little intrusion from Shenya?

Too many people never bother to read the actual blog and source their information from the wiki and YT/TikTok or something even worse, so I can't help but make a small note here... Ideally, just read the blogpost yourself - it's not that long, really.

But I guess I'll retell you the most important part: the plans, as you may have probably guessed, are still the same - improve custom moves, improve second week, add voice acting and unique animation to the second week, return to making YouTube videos - and start working on Kizana. And by the way, I think I have to note that while he's not working on Kizana directly, he's still collecting necessary assets.

However, February and March were not particularly productive - and frankly, not just for him... but we'll get to that later. I know people hate unpredictability and when things don't go as they planned - it's just how our brain works... but unfortunately, life is, indeed, often quite unpredictable.

Oh, and speaking about productivity and all..

Design Refresh and the Wiki Plans

As you probably noticed already, the wiki got a new background! Do you like it? I made it myself :D That is far from the only change made, though.

The design was first updated after the many years around early 2023 - it was a completely different time for both the wiki and me, and I had completely different skills and goals in mind at the time.

The wiki had pretty much no design prior to that year - and I had to make something quick, in one go to avoid long and tedious voting processes on every change (well, I thought I had, that is). As time went on, new templates, articles and updates were piling up... Resulting in a lot of outdated, bugged or inconsistent elements.

I won't list everything I had updated or fix, but here're the most important changes:

The word "wiki" in logo now uses the same font as the game's logo itself.
Background patterns now use original graphics and were created and adjusted manually, as opposed to the previous background patterns that were basically 2x2 grid of squares and 2 icons in them.
Background patterns subtly fade out at the top for better text and logo readability. If you noticed it being bugged - please, contact me on my message wall or Discord. Thanks!
The main page now uses a different heading design, and a few blocks were slightly adjusted. It also got a new block - "Download", as apparently too many people don't realize the game is still updated regularly.
Quote template got a new design more consistent with the rest of the templates.
Page background and so-called "secondary background" (used in the right column, many templates and so on - particularly on desktop skin) in light theme are now a bit brighter and less grayish.
The little notification in the corner now also displays the latest version. Updated manually, but still! In the future, I'd also like to link the interactive map of the school there, but we'll see about that.
Many, many bug fixes. I don't think anyone is really that interested, but thought I should still mention it...

Oh, yeah, and the topic of the plans!

While the overall quality of the wiki had improved tremendously lately, there're still plenty of things to write, update, revise and add. If you're interested, join our Discord server - we welcome everyone there, including complete newbies, and we have a proper to-do list there!

Jackboog21 has been demoted due to inactivity.
A new discussion category, "Sharing Trivia," has been added, while the "Staff" category has been removed since it was previously used for COTP meetings, which were abolished in November. If you plan to share trivia and would like it added on the same day, ping Tuxedoshlyukha.
Two new templates, "Card" and "Subpages," have been introduced, and two templates, "Quoteslink" and "GalleryTabs," have been removed.
You may have noticed that Wiki now has over a thousand pages compared to around 700-750. This is because the remaining pages of that current number are subpages.
The manual of style has been updated with new information. If you have 15 minutes to spare, consider reviewing it and contacting an admin with any questions or concerns.
A new bot came to the Wiki “DalerMurodVasiriov” on February 20th of this year. The bot is owned by Tuxedoshlyukha, who already uses it to do mass file deletions and uploads, repair double or broken redirects, add categories to pages in bulk, or correct simple spelling errors. Since the bot owner is not good at coding, Shenethala will do all complicated tasks (replacing complex keywords, adding or replacing Navbox templates, etc.).
The Voiced Characters category is complete!
New Wiki pages include the Hall of Fame and FAQ. The Hall of Fame page thanks our biggest editors/contributors and details their major accomplishments. The FAQ page is a frequently asked questions page on our Wiki for anyone to look at.
Bonus: 13th March is the 10th anniversary of our wiki!

January 2025 Recap

Happy (belated) New Year to all who see and read this!

This January 2025 recap contains wordy paragraphs and shoutouts. Buckle up and get comfortable with the number of words on this post!

To start this post, let’s discuss the game and the new update written by Slimytent12! :D

Game Recap

After Amai was released, YandereDev redirected his focus to addressing all the issues related to her week. He resolved the reported bugs, introduced a unique process for getting her expelled from school, and added a social media feature to provide players with a more engaging and interactive way to uncover her secrets. However, he is not finished yet; he has a checklist of improvements he wants to make to Amai’s week before moving on (you find here).

Before concentrating on enhancing Amai’s week, he intends to implement a series of features for Custom Mode first. These features are primarily based on player requests, and he aims to work on them this January.

Many items from the "to-do list before moving on to Kizana" were completed before October 21, 2024. These include features such as the social media function, which replaced the "snooping through bookbag" feature, and more.

Since October 21st, 2024, several significant updates were made, including:

A major "1980s Mode Revamp" update, where nearly all of the cast was drastically remodeled.
A new design for the Basu Sisters, with a new option to discover what lies beneath the cherry tree…using a pickaxe.
The ability to customize Ayano’s appearance at her home.
The ability to kidnap male students;
New “Schoolday” tracks.
New music tracks for the Light Music Club rhythm minigame in 1980s Mode.

Various improvements to Custom Mode, which include:

The ability to decide a student's task.
The ability to determine a student's reputation.
The ability to enable or disable a student’s club accessory.
The ability to customize a student's pose in their student portrait.
The ability to customize female students' skin tone, among other features.

As shown, almost all of these updates stem from that to-do list.

Fixed the main page and a few other minor things, removed some minor outdated templates on pages, unified the Uniform page with the Clothing page, created the “Userbox” template, created the Manual of Style and Guidelines page for the Wiki, updated infoboxes by adding categories to them, and changed templates names slightly using her bot across the entire page catalog.
@Slimytent12 – Uploaded new pictures of Ayano to her gallery, italicized all game names on their pages, corrected spelling, grammar, and punctuation on multiple pages, updated the History and Bug Fixes pages for Yandere Simulator, added a new notice template ({{Trivia}}), added the new illustrations for the bakery owners, added trivia to a few pages from the Discord server, and fixed the Aishi Family page by adjusting the ages to be mathematically correct.
@STYSAR20101829 – Corrected spelling and grammar of added trivia, and welcomed new trivia to different pages that they provided.
@VelvetBlossomlover – Added new trivia about Dafuni Bureiku.
@Yumut – Adjusted the entire Characters category page by moving some of the trivia in the “Appearance” section to the Trivia section and added two subsections to the Appearance section for readers. Quick Wiki Recap

2024 brought the wiki to several major milestones. It was the year when an actual community began to form again - both in editing and casual chat area, when a lot of internal systems and technical parts got a long-needed revamp, and overall, it finally came back to an "organized community" state instead of "random people trying to keep it together but barely communicating with each other".

The most noticeable visual changes happened in 2023 when I got to finally fix the wiki's background (it used the 2016 Senpai customization background), and the main page, and give it proper dark and light themes, but after that... Not much had happened, frankly. Yes, a bunch of articles had been rewritten and improved, but there isn't that much a single person, or a few people who have no real contact with each other, can do. A lot of things that were done in 2024 wouldn't be possible without cooperation, and a lot of them wouldn't be even thought of.

There were and I'm sure there will be some rough moments, but overall, I'm really happy that I've got to work with you all! Thanks to everyone who has visited and contributed to this little Internet corner in any way, and take care!

Wiki Revamp (updated 11/14)

Hello everyone!

As you probably already know, Jackboog21 has been demoted from the bureaucrat role, and I'm the new bureaucrat now. As it was said in Tuxedoshlyukha's previous post, the wiki needs to be updated in multiple areas.

This post describes all the changes; please read it carefully and don't hesitate to comment. Tuxedoshlyukha, Slimytent12 and me will be happy to clarify any concerns, questions, or issues.

Since it's more of a discussion than a voting, everyone is welcome to contribute.

This discussion will be held for seven days (until November 19th) minimum before all the changes are applied.

GOVERNMENT CHANGES OVERVIEW

Please note that this is a summary of the revamped structure with comments, not how the pages will look; they will be published a bit later.

Summary of the proposal:

Councils, committees, and all meetings as a format; replace them with a new format.
Archive the forum; the forum (not to be confused with discussions) hasn't been used by anyone except some staff members for a long time.
Change staff ranking system to suggested below;
Change the voting system to the suggested below.

Staff structure

The main and most important rule is that no staff rank should be a way to show appreciation for the hard work or highlight the user; it should only be given if it can substantially increase the performance. I intentionally avoid specifying any strict numbers required for any ranks; instead, the user has to show they're capable of doing the job, and their promotion will make the work easier for everyone. If the user believes they meet the requirements, they should inform any staff member; if all staff members agree, they get promoted. A public vote is held if staff members can't reach a consensus, or the user disagrees with their decision.

We recommend anyone applying for staff to have a Discord account, or create a Discord account, and join the Editor's server, as the majority of communication occurs on this server between staff members.

Content moderator:

As anyone can guess from the name, their job is to keep the wiki's articles, files, categories, and overall content in order.
Their technical permissions include rollback changes, deleting/undeleting any pages (including files, categories, etc.), protecting and unprotecting them, editing protected pages, renaming any pages without leaving a redirect, and patrolling changes. Their job can also include helping new users with editing and guiding them to edit properly.
To become a content moderator, the user should show a good understanding of basic wiki mark-up, editing guidelines, and style and contribute to the wiki for an amount of time significant enough to show their dedication to the wiki.

Thread moderator:

Thread moderators keep the Discussions and comments section in order; they can lock, delete, and undelete any posts and comments, edit posts and comments, and rename them if necessary.
To become a thread moderator, the user has to show their social skills and activity on the wiki. As resolving conflict situations can be tricky without having any technical rights, an internship can be offered to a user even if the latter couldn't show their skills but didn't show the lack of them.

Chat moderator:

Chat moderators keep the Discord servers in order; the requirements are the same as for thread moderators, but it's unnecessary to be a staff member on the wiki to be a chat moderator. It's also unnecessary to be a moderator on both servers at once.

Administrator:

Administrators can do everything moderators can do: blocking and unblocking users, changing the design, and managing the technical part of the wiki. It's expected to manage the social part of the wiki, encouraging social and editing activity. If there are multiple administrators, they can split their duties between each other.
Generally, the user has to be a moderator for some time to show they're suitable for this job; the exact experience and moderator status required depends on the situation and what's needed and expected from a new administrator.

Bureaucrat:

The only technical permission the bureaucrat status gives is the ability to give other users technical rights, so their main duty is to be active and engaged with the wiki. However, the bureaucrat is also an administrator and is usually expected to be "the leader".
Promoting and demoting a bureaucrat should be done through a voting process. A bureaucrat can give this status to another user, but cannot revoke it; thus, in case of demotion, a user has to either remove the status from themselves or the vote results should be sent to Fandom support.

Rollbacks:

Rollback status gives a user only two technical rights: using the "rollback" button, which reverts all changes made by the last contributor (which can be done manually by any user, though), and marks their edits as patrolled by default.
With that said, this isn't a staff but rather "trusted editor" position. A content moderator or administrator can request granting it to a certain user if they think it's unnecessary to check every edit they make anymore.

Promotion system

Anyone is free to apply to any position at any given time. Users cannot apply for others, however, they're free to suggest applying.

The application form is free, but it is recommended that you list your contributions, wiki-related knowledge, and plans to show your sincere intentions and improve clarity.

Since most editors are generally uninterested in voting on applications, staff members will the ones to review and vote on all submissions. If the staff members have doubts or can't reach a definitive conclusion, or the applicant disagrees with their decision, they can initiate a public vote.

Demotion system

A staff member may be demoted without a prior voting if they severely violate the rules or remain completely inactive (including all Discord, Discussions, and editing activities) for more than two months.

In all other cases, the same algorithm as in the promotion process applies.

Warning and Blocks

Mini-warnings were previously used as small, minor, warnings for users who violated Wiki rules. However, they were often shown to be ineffective, as users continued to break the rules despite receiving them, resulting in infinite blocks. Therefore, mini-warnings should be eliminated, and staff members should issue more appropriate warnings and consequences.

Below is a proposed warning system that will apply to all non-staff users:

Warning is a verbal, public reminder about the rules of the wiki send to a specific user on the message wall. Its role is to warn the user about potential consequences and document inappropriate behavior cases for other staff. Warnings should not be deleted off of a user's walls, and will result in a warning if caught doing so.

Blocking should be treated as an extreme measure of preventing a certain user from damaging the wiki and should be used accordingly. The exact length and criteria are defined by the staff members for each case individually, however, the following guidelines should be taken into account:

In cases of minor damage and prior warnings, the block length should be 7 days, and if applicable, should be partial.
Depending on the severity and extensiveness of the damage and the prior blocks and warnings given to the user, the block length should increase.
If the account seems to be created for malicious purposes only and in cases of repeated behavior and ignoring the warnings and blocks, an infinite block can be given.

Warnings cannot "expire"; they should always be taken into account along with how long ago they were given, and how a user's behavior had changed since.

If a blocked person feels that their block was unjustified or due to the AbuseFilter being triggered false-positively, they can reach out to an admin on Community Central.

Please note that the guidelines are made vague intentionally to avoid situations that were not taken into account during the development of these rules and thus, require a decision that goes "against" them.

Voting System

Voting should be started for any debatable changes, such as deleting a page that is not a result of vandalism result or a change affecting a large scope of the wiki's content.

The core principle is that anyone can suggest anything at any time.

However, there are three types of voting depending on the importance and area the decision covers: staff-only, editors-only, and wiki-wide:

Staff-only voting type is reserved for changes that require a certain level of understanding or interest most editors and users don't have, such as changes to the technical part of the wiki.
Editors-only voting is for changes that affect the wiki's content but require a certain level of understanding or interest that most casual users don't have, such as adding new templates or changing the pages in some way.
Wiki-wide voting type is for changes that can affect the entire wiki in the long term, such as bringing major changes to the design, and core parts of technical or social systems. The exact criteria and place for voting depends on the type of it; it should let the majority of potentially interested users participate and last for a reasonable amount of time to make the decision but not make it unnecessarily long.

SOCIAL-RELATED CHANGES

Archive everything related to Minecraft, as Wiki users no longer use it.
Archive the main server and create a new one instead. The suggested version of the server can be tested here: https://discord.gg/Qe694FjQYa
Let main and editors servers exist and be "promoted" simultaneously using two widgets on the wiki.
Alter the bot to send recent changes to the editor's server.

TECHNICAL CHANGES

Remove AbuseFilter restriction that disallows new users to upload pictures (I don't think it's THAT much of an issue, frankly).
If possible, restrict changing "crush" and age parameters to new users due to excessive vandalism.
Request the addition of a "patrol" extension (basically marks all edits by non-staff members as unpatrolled and puts them on a special page; content mods+ can mark them as patrolled to remove them from that list)
Add a commong draft page for stubs and drafts as an alternative to personal sandboxes.
Add a "Hall of Fame" page for acknowledging the people who made significant contributions to the wiki. For each user, make a "card" briefly describing their contributions, when they joined the wiki, what role they played and when they left, if they did. The design prototype can be seen below:

As I had said already, this is an open discussion, so everyone is welcomed to join no matter the number of comments/edits and date of registration.

If there will be no ongoing discussions by November 19th, the decisions above will be applied; all old pages will be archived where it's reasonable and possible, and removed or rewritten in other case.

A Call To All Editors

I am writing this post to discuss an important topic that could significantly impact this Wiki: the role of Jackboog21.

Jackboog21 currently serves as the bureaucrat and is formally the only admin in the wiki. His responsibilities include managing the government system and wiki staff, maintaining the technical aspects of the wiki, issuing warnings and bans, and ensuring that the templates and design of the wiki are up to date as an administrator. Additionally, he takes on the roles of moderator and helper.

I have two main concerns regarding his ability to fulfil these duties effectively, which leads me to believe that the wiki needs a new bureaucrat.

Exhibit A. Jack has not been active for a significant period. If you examine his contributions[1] and activity[2] pages, you will see that his recent edits are primarily limited to updating staff-related pages and occasionally banning vandals. He hasn't engaged with the community for a long time besides handling the staff team, nor has he made substantial contributions to the wiki for more than three years—his last edit to the main space was in April 2021.[3] The current templates and design of the wiki have been created and maintained by Ŝenezala, as indicated in the main page history[4], background[5] and logo files.[6] The templates are edited and maintained by her and other contributors, which can be seen on the Recent Changes page.[7]

Exhibit B. There are fundamental disagreements regarding how the government system should function. As staff members pointed out in private conversations on Discord, the current system creates unnecessary complications and delays. Unfortunately, Jack has dismissed most of the suggestions and concerns raised.

This is a condensed list of included issues, which are not limited to:

An overly complicated staff ranking system, which *in ideal case* requires a user to wait approximately eight months and up to a year if there are any breaks or delays to become a content or chat moderator. This is the first position that grants technical rights for deleting unnecessary pages and comments, protecting and editing protected pages, or locking posts, but not banning users.
Practically all councils and meetings are either adding to the burden of active staff members or completely inactive.
All voting and meetings use forum - an unofficial recreation of an old feature that was scrapped years ago, unused by anyone except the staff members.

While I am highly appreciative of Jack's contributions and his time at this Wiki, I believe it is time for him to step down from his position. As such, I propose Ŝenezala as a more suitable candidate for the role of bureaucrat.

Reasons for my proposal:

Despite being formally classified as a mini admin, Ŝenezala has the necessary technical rights, which were requested and granted by Fandom staff through an adoption process.[8] Since then, she has been actively working on the wiki as an actual admin despite being qualified otherwise. Evidence of her contributions can be seen in her contributions[9] and activity[10] pages. So, I would like to propose her as a first choice.

The Proposed Summary:

Remove Jackboog21 as the bureaucrat of this Wiki due to the issues stated above.
Nominate Ŝenezala as the bureaucrat to fill in his role.

If you have more than 25 edits and posts in total, your account was created at least a few weeks before this post was published, and you were active at least a month before this post, please vote in the comments below until November 7th. Make it clear who you want to vote for, either by stating their name or by writing out a sentence (ex. “I vote for (NAME) to be the Wiki Bureaucrat”). The participant with the most votes will be appointed as the bureaucrat of the Yandere Simulator Wiki.

If this post receives enough support, it will be sent to Fandom staff for enforcement. Please let me know if you have any objections, questions, or concerns about this post or anything else. I am happy to discuss and clarify the matter further to find a beneficial resolution for the present and future of this Wiki.

Wiki Recap

Well, what can I say... I'm actually very proud of the progress the wiki had made in less than half a year! I'd say half of it if not more was entirely revamped and brought to the next level, a proper standard.

I also have to note the increased activity in editing side of things...

And I have something to announce too: the wiki now has a special Discord server for people who are interested in editing.

We also have a new helper: Slimytent12, who was quite active and is an experienced editor overall as you can probably tell by what I wrote above :)

There's also ongoing COTP which will be going until the end of October. The most important thing there is changes to Manual of Style and Guidelines, so I suggest you to check it out if you're interested in editing.

Game Recap

A lot of things from the "to-do list before moving on to Kizana" were already completed before July 17th, which include things such as unique expulsion process and so on.

From July 17th, there were:

Hardware update, which made one more store in Buraza town functional and added a few more weapons;
New basement tape;
Homu's task and new elimination method related to it;
Social media function that replaced "snooping through bookbag" feature, as well as all cooking club members' tasks;
New dream;
Various animations/texture improvements;
A lot of characters' descriptions got expanded or updated.

As you can probably notice, all these things are from that to-do list as well. The most important part of it remains unfinished, which is voice acting, however, the dev collects the necessary assets and sometimes makes some adjustments for Kizana's week in the meantime.

In the nearest future, there's a 1980s characters' design revamp and a special Halloween update to be expected, which will come out on, you'll never guess, October 31st. :)

Wiki To-do List

Almost every 1980s weeks articles are stubs;
Mirror - GIFs should go to the gallery at the bottom for people with slow or limited connection;
Numbness, as well as all other manga-related skills and article about manga itself, need more pictures.
A new navbox for weapons has to be made. DO NOT put in manually, notify me instead and I'll use a bot to put it in place automatically. Places, objects and game mechanics navboxes have to be double-checked.
Faculty page should use navigational galleries instead of a template (see clubs articles if you're confused).
Clothing article is still a stub.
Aishi House is still a stub. Additionally, overly long lists and descriptions should be avoided in such articles.
Dolls article needs descriptions for some of the dolls.
An article about fighting mechanics has to be created (we already have pickpocketing mechanic described, so...).
These articles were marked as outdated.

The following articles need to be restructured:

Buraza Town - has to be split into two (1980s/202X), also need tables with prices and images of the items instead of plain lists.
Corpses;
Dismemberment
Friends, plus add information about characters that are friends with each other and how it affects gameplay.
Pickpocketing (+ maybe create fighting mechanics)
Reputation;
School Atmosphere;
Self-Defense;
Mission Mode;
SNAP;
Stats - should have similar to "Study Points" structure and have manga pictures;
Police;
Individual articles about personas.
Characters pages - insert Gallery & Quotes section and template where there's overly long (more than 3 rows) gallery or quotes section.
All classrooms articles (follow Classroom 2-1 example).

Wiki To-Do List

- Update 07.28

Hello!

I've been planning on something like this for a long, long time, and I think the moment finally came...

But before we start, let's clear up a few things.

This is not anything mandatory by any means. It's just a simple guidance, a hint for those who want to do something on the wiki but don't know what. Doing or not doing anything from this list won't grant you anything, aside from maybe my gratitude and mention in the next such post when the time will come :)
This is also not a complete list of everything that has to be done, and it might get outdated at some point. However, I will try to keep it updated and posts some additional notes and updates in the comments.
I post it in Discussions for several reasons: it's purely my initiative and I don't want to busy anyone with having to maintain it, and I want to keep it relatively simple.

And with that out of the way...

The good news

I've actually checked all the articles that had to be updated after Amai release, and most of them are actually up to date. :) Unfortunately, at this point of time, it's not humanely possible to dig through all the edits from May 1st in order to give a shout out to the contributors, but I will try to do it in the next post... hopefully.

If I missed some minor articles or information and didn't put it on the list, feel free to point it out in the comments.

THE LIST ITSELF

To make things a little easier, let's break it to several categories by the type of edit the articles require.

Unfinished articles

The following articles are still lacking crucial information (not images or minor trivia bits):

Karlheinz Asylum and Dark Delights Bakery. Stalker's House can be expanded as well with more detailed description of each room and more screenshots.
Rival Specific Eliminations should describe each method in detail.
First Week/Quotes is still missing quotes starting from Wednesday (no sabotage variant).
Matchmaking should describe each of the rivals' interests, preferences in boys and compliments (both Osana and Amai have unique reactions to different compliments).

Update articles formatting by "model"

Currently, there're five categories of articles where a lot (or almost all of them) have somewhat up to date information but were never reformatted since 2016... and it shows.

These articles are:

Articles about weapons.

Good article example: Fire Extinguishers.

Most articles just need a filled up infobox. Also, someone, remind me to make a navbox for them, please...

Articles about places.

Good article example: Announcement Room.

Most of the articles just need a proper infobox as well. They should also mention which NPCs come to that place at what time.

Articles about clubs.

Good article example: Drama Club.

This category probably needs the most amount of work...

The key changes are: infobox (obviously), "gameplay" section that first describes the club benefits and whatever else it gives access to (if it does) and then the general mechanics of the clubs (joining, leaving, being kicked out, etc.), then "schedule" section that describes what students from this club do during the school day, and then "members" section that should utilize galleries instead of plain lists, followed by all the typical ending sections.

Articles about objects.

Good article example: Bucket.

I've kinda lied to you when I had put it in this, uhh, category of to-do list... :) I'm pretty sure half of the articles are straight up missing.

This category should include all objects the protagonist can pick up and use somehow during the game, whether it displays in bag inventory or phone inventory.

I know some people might find these articles a little questionable, and honestly, I'm doubting the necessity of an article about, let's say, mops myself, - but on the other hand, they're not that different from weapons... and limiting their descriptions to just one article can make searching for them a little annoying and confusing. Besides, a lot of them have quite specific uses and related mechanics.

They might require a navbox as well.

Articles about students (kinda).

Good article example: Osana Najimi.

It's a bit of a stretch to put it here, but still... If you encounter an article that has overly long gallery/illustrations/quotes section, put in a GalleryTabs templates. If the sections are pretty short (not a half size of the article itself) or only one of them is present, keep them as is.

A few other things that need to be updated

Students' schedules during second week... as monumental as it is.
Students' topics (probably). Some were certainly updated, and it's quite hard to keep up with all of them... Anyway, I have two pages with an automatically generated lists of each students' topics. To make things easier for yourself, you can use page history to see what exactly was updated.
Cites. Aside from marking uncited trivia with this template, there's also another thing to do - try finding the source. With some articles, finding it as easy as digging through the page history. With others, you might discover that there was no proper source whatsoever, not even a hint of it: if it's too minor, boring or questionable trivia, feel free to remove it. If it seems valuable enough, put in comments down below or any other place where they won't get lost. When there will be enough trivia like that, I'll email the developer. And please, do not link r/Osana or any other unofficial subreddits or social media accounts. If they have a screenshot of an email or a direct message or something like that, upload it to the wiki itself.
A lot of articles still miss audio and images or have really outdated ones. You can extract audio directly from the game using AssetsStudio from GitHub, and images... well, it's pretty obvious already.

I think that's all for today. As I said earlier, feel free to add anything I might have forgot about. I will also try making another post like this in a month or two, and yes, with individual contributors mentioned :)

Help Wanted

We're currently looking for new staff members, and have been for awhile. To help promote more people running for staff, some requirements have been lowered.

Helper Requirements:

*100+ edits/posts

*2+ months on the wiki

What counts as an edit/post?:

Edits/posts is the combined amount of edits to pages and posts to Discussions, Message Walls, and comment sections. 100 may seem like a lot, but it's actually very low since so many things count towards it. If you're unsure if you meet the requirement, don't be afraid to ask.

Are there any other requirements?:

Yes, but most people interested in applying probably already meet them. It's just basic stuff like "don't be blocked"; you can read them all here.

What are the duties of a Helper?:

The link I gave above also lists all their duties. Helpers are the 1st position someone can apply for. It's somewhat of a staff trial period but it's got a bit more nuance. After 3 months, you'll be able to run for Rollback or Chat Mod.

How do I apply?:

You can apply by making an application here on Discussions under the Staff category. There's no particular way you must format your application, but it's good practice to list all the requirements you meet and how well you meet them (such as stating it requires 100 edits but you have 200). And it's also nice to give a brief introduction to yourself. Once you make your application, you should notify me.

Who decides if I become staff?:

Our wiki is a democracy. So the decision making is in the hands of the community.

What if someone else wins the election?:

We're currently looking for 2 Helpers, so unless more than 2 people apply at the same time; then everyone that applies and wins their election will become staff!

Amai is officially released! Here's how you can help the wiki

Yep: you've read this right!

Today the second rival of the Story Mode, Amai Odayaka, was publicly released - go check it out!

Just keep in mind that as with any other video game releases, for the next week or so, the builds might be a little unstable and bugfixes will probably be released daily. ;)

I highly encourage you to read the official blogpost: it answers the most questions you might have and also lists some very important things about the game, its current state and future plans.

With that said, the wiki will obviously be updated as soon as possible, but remember: it's being entirely run by independent volunteers... And you can be one of them as well.

Make a Fandom account and confirm your email - and make a few edits to the other pages if you want to edit the most popular (especially among vandals) ones.

So, here's a few easy ways how you can help the wiki:

Update the articles

If you don't have direct access to the game but you have a reliable source, such as YouTube channels showcasing the updates, you can add new information based on those sources too!

Don't be afraid to mess up - unless it's intentional, no one is going to scold you for that.

Add new images

If you're unsure what images are needed and what are not - you can always look up to the other pages and see if they have images like that or not.

Besides gameplay screenshots, you can also add arts from the official blogposts and other social media and update portraits and other images on different pages.

Write down the dialogues

If you're unsure about your writing skills or simply don't really like it, you can help by writing down the dialogues... And boy, there will be a lot. New tasks, all Amai's events with Taro, sabotaged events, befriend/betray elimination, new Info-chan bounties, Basu sisters' conversations... And I doubt it's even a full list!

You don't have to type everything manually - just make a screenshot, paste it in Google images, crop it - and voila, you can just copy the text and paste it somewhere else.

And a few reminders and answers to the most common questions:

First of all, when adding new trivia, don't forget to list the source! If it's on the official server, add both a link to the message and a screenshot of it. If it's from the official blog or social media comments section, simply attach the link. If it's an email, add the screenshot. If you're unsure how to attach the screenshot, here's a help page on that - or just post it in the comments.
If you can't add new images, post in discussions or make any edits at all, make sure your Fandom account is confirmed.
If you can't edit pages about rivals and a few others, you need to make more edits on other pages first! If you have some valuable content but can't get enough edits, you can post it in the comments.
If you spot vandalism, report it to one of the admins on the message wall! Some vandals are smart enough to know how to revert the edits, - don't waste your time on combating them.

If you have problems with your Fandom account, contact the official support. If you have problems with this particular wiki or can't go through the account confirmation procedure, you can try contacting admins on Discord.

Wiki Updates (October 2023)

Hello everyone, I'm here to relay various updates to the wiki as of late to everyone.

Election Updates:

To start things off are a series of changes to our staff requirements and elections. The requirements for Helper, our lowest position, have been decreased from 200+ edits/posts and 4+ months on the wiki to only 100 edits/posts and 3 months on the wiki. All requirements can be found here.

In addition to these changes to requirements, we've moved all elections from DPLforums to right here on Discussions under the Staff category, to make everything easier.

If you'd like to apply for staff, simply create a post in the Staff category here and list your qualifications. Afterwards, notify a staff member to properly announce your application. If you need any help with this or questions, feel free to reach out for help.

Something worth mentioning is we do need new staff. The wiki's staff has fallen down to just 5 people, scattered around various ranks. 1 Helper, 1 Chat Mod, 1 Content Mod, 1 Mini-Admin, and 1 Bureaucrat. Even just a few Helpers can go a long way to helping improve our situation, pun not intended.

Other Language Wikis:

For a long time now, we've only allowed the Russian wiki to be linked to within articles. This was due to our affiliation policies, which have been now adjusted to no-longer require an affiliation for linking to them in articles. Feel free to help us link to the other wikis.

Wiki's Position Regarding Recent Events:

I, and others, have re-iterated the wiki's position several times but never in a properly highlighted thread. So I'd like to take this chance to clearly state it.

The Yandere Simulator Wiki is completely independent from YandereDev and has always been. Our staff are democratically elected by the community. The wiki is a place of information, and always will be. Every article is volunteer work by thousands of editors, and every staff member is a volunteer giving their time to keep the wiki safe and maintained.

Wiki's Future:

As stated by our Mini-Admin, the wiki will remain operating and open to edit. Not only because Fandom wouldn't allow otherwise, but also because there's still stuff to do.

Pause in the game development

Hello.

Today YandereDev announced that he's taking a pause in the game development until he improves his mental and physical health significantly to be able to make more adequate decisions and overall have more adequate and healthier behavior.

No specific plans on how exactly the game development will continue were announced. The game was not cancelled, it wasn't given away to anybody to continue or anything else for that matter. It was simply paused until the point where the developer can make more weighted and unaffected by his own mental state decision.

Keep in mind I only provided the shortest retelling of the blogpost possible. I highly encourage you to read the full post, since it provides much more details on what exactly was and is going on.

What does it mean for the wiki?

Fandom, the site this wiki is being hosted on, strictly forbids erasing or locking any pages except when for avoiding vandalism on the most popular ones, so the wiki will never be "closed".

In terms of activity, I obviously cannot speak for anyone but myself. If you want to stay, I really appreciate that and hope you're having fun here. As for myself, I'm not going to abandon the wiki unless something happens that makes me hate Fandom/YS/the wiki itself, I cannot be here anymore (time, health, etc.) or there's simply nothing to do left. For now, I still have plans for this wiki and I will implement them, although probably a bit later when the controversy hype will die down a bit and I'll have more time in real life.

Whatever your decision will be, please don't let neither being a fan of something nor public opinion on that something to define who you are and what you do in your own life. We have only one attempt. Don't waste it.

Regarding recent drama

As a staff member, I'll try to keep my personal position completely irrelevant to my actions, but I have to remind you that all direct insults of anyone regardless of how "justified" it may look to you (YandereDev, youtubers, volunteers, random people in comments, whoever) will be deleted and judged as any other insults. They are forbidden not just by the local rules, but also the global hosting's rules.

Clarification about the rule #8 (vulgar language and swearing)

Hello.

For those who don't remember, rule #8 is "No vulgar language or slurs".

Despite that it's not listed in the rules yet, keep your language relatively polite; you don't have to talk like you're being in front of the president, but don't use harsh words or curses, especially directed to anyone, even if it's not someone specific or an actual person.

I've clarified this question with our Wiki Representative (Fandom staff member) to be completely sure, and he said that phrasings like "fuck u cat", as from the recent post, are not allowed.

I know it's a bit late clarification, but unfortunately, I had some issues in real life and didn't have time to do this immediately.

You can thank others for their contributions now

Hi!

Fandom recently added a new feature - on the Recent Contribution page and some others, you can now find the "Thank" button, which will send a notification to the user you've thanked.

If someone tries to annoy you with it or you don't want to receive those notifications for some reason, you can disable them on your preferences page:

Some other things to note:

Please be mindful with it; don't send 500 "thanks" in a row to one user. Remember, it's supposed to be nice, not annoying.
If you found a bug or have feedback, you can leave it under this post or send it to me; I'll pass it to our wiki representative, and it will be noted by the Fandom staff.

A few tweaks to mobile version

Fandom (finally) allowed all wikis to use mobile CSS, which means that I can (finally) tweak how some things are displayed on mobile version...

It's a fairly minor "update" to the wiki, though:

Main page now has a properly adapted mobile version. Well, technically, it had a mobile version before - with auto generated links to some articles and categories, - aaand you could technically open "full version"... but it was a piece of garbage, let's be honest. Not anymore though!

"Notice" templates (like "This is a stub"/"Spoilers", etc.) should be displayed on mobile too now. However, on some pages, it may take some time for page cache to be updated, so be patient. Making a "null" (empty) edit sometimes helps.

Not so existing news, I know, but I still feel like they're fairly important for some, plus just wanted to share. 🤭

(updated) Wiki redesign, new admin introduction, enabled comments and other news

Hi! As you've probably noticed, the design changed quite drastically... and this is not the only thing that was changed. And absolutely not the only thing that will be changed...

So, what exactly happened?

Quite simple story, actually. In mid-January I've started to work on improving the articles, and around the same time reached out to Jackboog21, the bureaucrat of the wiki. And long story short - I proposed a redesign and offered help with some technical issues, he approved it (but haven't actually done anything), and then the whole thing just came to a dead-end.

Since a lot of the things that have to be done require admin rights, not to mention that this wiki just needs an active admin in general, I've discussed the topic with the wiki representative, TimeShade, and Keter Delinquent, as the only regularly active contributor, got approval, and TimeShade gave me the admin rights.

And a quick note for those who have never been interested in all this stuff: it's actually an absolutely normal and common practice on Fandom: there's even a separate page just for that.

Updated summary of changes and plans

I have discussed the changes and plans with Jackboog21 in Discord DMs. The conclusion we came to is:

I do not give up any technical rights, but will stay as a "mini admin". This means that I will mainly handle the articles and community part of the wiki, as I originally planned (+ ban obvious trolls and vandals on the wiki itself). The Discord server and the staff-related systems will be handled by other staff members. More specific information will be announced later, for it's mainly being handled by Jackboog21.
The wiki's governance system is being worked on. Other staff members are debating many changes to simplify many aspects of the wiki's governance to be more friendly for non-staff to understand and navigate. Removing committees, changing election requirements, and more are being debated. Expect to hear more before the month is over.
The comments will be disabled for 2 days maximum to set up an abuse filter. After 2 days comments will be enable regardless.

My current plans regarding the articles and the community

Some structural changes to different types of the articles, updating the categories system and other similar changes. There will be open discussions for significant changes.
Making a community to-do list (what needs to be done in the articles). What exactly to put in it, where to place, etc., etc. will also be discussed with the community itself.
A tutorial on how to update the images and maybe some other things if necessary.
In the more abstract future: some sort of rewarding/encouraging system for contributors that is not directly related to the staff system. Something like custom achievements, special userboxes, "end of month summaries"... Heavily depends on the wiki governance update progress.

I probably forgot to mention something less significant, but I will keep you updated on everything I do as a staff member.

An actual proper introduction (finally)

I'm Ŝenezala, or just Shenya! I started to contribute to Fandom back in late 2018, quite ironically, on the Russian Yandere Simulator Wiki :D Over the course of those ~5 years a lot of stuff happened; I've contributed to many different wikis and learned a lot of different (sometimes quite random) stuff and skills. The most significant wikis are listed on my profile, but those are not all of them... Currently I'm only working on this and the Russian wikies, and also a part of Fandom Stars program (...thankfully, there's not much you have to do xD).

Besides Fandom, I'm a Yandere Sim fan (who would have guessed, I know), an artist and that weird girl from your school/uni who always wears huge headphones.

IMPORTANT: Trolling and Vandalism

There will be times where people suddenly think it's a great idea to mess up the wiki by vandalizing everything they can. Images, articles, you name it. They will often replace it with meme content and that's exactly what's going on now. This post is just to give you a heads up about the current situation in case you get worried or wonder what the heck is going on when you look at the wiki/recent changes. It's very frustrating for staff and our users to have to deal with this but we're trying our best to revert these troll edits and restore our wiki. I felt like I had to post this in case anyone has questions about what's going on. This is absolutely not the first time or the last time this will happen. We're used to it and we know how to deal with situations like this, regardless of how frustrating it is!

We'd like to give a big thank you to our users who are trying their best to help staff restore the wiki! Thank you all so much!!

Akademi's Name Change!

Hello, everyone! This is to let you know that the school is no longer called Akademi High School! Its official name is just Akademi now. This has been officially stated in the Yandere Simulator Discord server by Mulberry. See the attached images. So over the course of the next few days, we'll be removing any mentions of "Akademi High School" and replacing it with just Akademi. If you're wondering why we're suddenly changing articles and removing "High School" from them, then you know why! Thank you so much for your understanding!
